The bold flavors of Fearing’s can be savored in specialties such as the Tortilla Soup, Barbecued Shrimp Taco and Maple-Black Peppercorn Soaked Buffalo Tenderloin. Diner Reviews
  • "After hearing so many good things we were both surprised at how bad the food was. The scallops were burned, cold and dry. Everything on the plate was just very dry and flavorless. And, we sort of felt like we were being rushed to get through dinner. Would not go back or recommend."

  • "The food and service were truly amazing. Very creative and delicious dishes which were based on local Tex-Mex staples. Try the tortilla soup, the shrimp tacos and the foie gras on cornbread waffle with seared scallops. All outstanding! I was talked into desert after being full and was glad I didn't miss the banana pudding with beignets. Yum!"

  • "One of my guests was allergic to all types of dairy products, and on request the pasty chef made a special dessert for her without any dairy products which was outstanding"

  • "Quite simply, its Dean Fearing, so, the food is excellent. The service is very good and it is a great spot for a night out. Take your foreign (non Texan) guests here for a first class but still southwestern experience. You will not be disappointed."

  • "The antelope sirloin is the best tasting meat I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly, succulent, and flavorful! My wife had a beef tenderloin and loved it as well. The rabbit enchiladas and fried lobster were aso very good. We went for out anniversary and our waiter, Andrew, was great. He took very good care of us. It was a Monday night at 8:45, so there wasn't a crowd. Only 4 or 5 other tables were occupied the whole night. It made for a nice, quiet dinner and the service was very quick. We loved Fearing's!"

  • "This restaurant and amazing food and a lovely space."

  • "Food was great. Support staff was very good. Our waiter, however, was not attentive and appeared to be far more concerned with the table next to us. For example, while he was taking our order, he stopped midway without saying anything and began servicing the table next to us. Obviously that was very rude and unprofessional but also down right bizarre. Not the kind of service one would expect at a place where the average price per person is around $100."

  • "Seated on time. Creative, delicious menu. Great, knowledgable service which was not over-bearing. Dean Fearing visited every table. Visiting foodie friend commented that we are coming back here next Texas-OU weekend."

  • "This was the best restaurant experience we've had in recent history."

  • "Although we paid, $300+ for a dinner for two, we got what we paid for! The service was excellent, the food was excellent, the wine was excellent....you get my point. If the price doesn't scare you too badly, this is a MUST if you are in Dallas."

  • "Had at least three different waiters and no one introduced themselves. Waited forever after sitting down before being asked if we wanted a drink - then wanted drink and food orders at once. They brought out and uncorked the white wine before I even had finished 1/4 of my cocktail. I tried the wine at his request but stopped him from pouring it. He obviously wasn't paying attention to us. I had to ask that the white wine be put in ice. The lobster was overcooked but the tenderloin was good. My scallops and fried okra were also good. Cheeses for dessert seemed like they came from Whole Foods - nothing special. And no one acknowledged the birthday we were celebrating except the girl who sat us. We won't be back should have gone to Abacus"

  • "Great food that is not the typical run of the mill menu. Fried Oyster app was awesome and could have been a meal in itself! We had 4 different waiters wait on us, which makes it difficult to develop any type of relationship with any one (and the fact that one of the 4 was a dud). Would definitely return."

  • "The ambiance was very classy yet somewhat unique. The service was above and beyond. Every staff member waited on us at some point, including the owner and chef, who were very pleasant. Most importantly, the food was really fantastic! I had the filet with fried lobster and loaded mash, I highly recommend the dish and Fearing's!"

  • "I was in Dallas on a business trip and had a free solo evening. I stumbled upon Fearing's menu; it sounded novel and interesting. The front desk staff was very warm and welcoming. I sat at the long counter overlooking the kitchen and was waited on by no less than three attentive, engaging staff. The food on the menu lived up to my hunch: the BBQ Quail appetizer was amazing; it had me sucking those tiny little bones. I had a curried lamb chop garnished with grilled shrimp; weird combo but delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the secret weapon of this dish is the grilled shrimp. The topper: several visits by Mr. Fearing himself, who appeared to love talking to his customers about his food in a genuine way. I'll be back."

  • "The poached egg on a cheddar/jalapeno biscuit with cos' chili is fabulous. And the portion is perfect too. And beautifully presented. I ate outside and the ambiance was much better than in the informal inside dining area. Being outside was probably why my service was only good. I didn't see the waiter between food delivery and getting check."

  • "Outstanding food. Everything about the restaurant was excellent. Dean Fearing came out and shook everyone's hand. Besides all of that, there were some celebrities in the restaurant enjoying the great food."

  • "Fearing's lives up to the excellent reputation of the great chef it is named after. Do not be intimidated by the Ritz Carlton location. It is a family friendly restaurant where casual dress is ok and a very beautiful setting."

  • "requested was not working that evening,as we were being lead to our table next to the loud kitchen,we could not even find our waiter! When someone did show up,we thought he was the bus boy since he did not attempt to take our drink orders, introduce himself or even put down our drinks at our respective place settings. He put all our drinks in one spot between two diners! As the hostess was leading us to our table, she could plainly see that we had an elderly person as part of our group. Why she did not seat us in 1 of the quieter dining rooms?Service improved with new server after I left the group to speak to the manager.Food was outstanding.Timing of courses was irregular. They did try to make up for the service mistakes at the end of our meal."

  • "We celebrated my parents 50th at Fearing's. It was a table of 11 and everything was incredible. Dean came by personally to check on us and the entire staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The recommendation for the florist was spot on and the food was delicious. I know he is experimenting with new flavors and I would say he held true to the originals but the new items were just as tasty. Thank you Fearing's!"

  • "Enjoyed our lunch at Fearing's. The appetizers were great. I think this is where I've had the best ever tacos. 3-stars only on food cause when we got our entree - halbut, it was too salty. Service can be better as the waiters were rushing us. Over-all a very good place to dine for a special occassion."

  • "I eat out all the time and my experience at Fearings was excellent. Iy was by far the best food I have had in Dallas. From the appetizer to the main course I was shocked at how good everything was. Then the fried blueberry pie blew me away. I just got engaged at the Mansion and I was very dissipointed in the food. Now I know why. The reason the Mansion was so special now resides at Fearings! Brovo Dean Fearing"

  • "If you haven't been, you must make your way to Dean Fearings restaurant at the Ritz. Our experience was spectacular as always! We all had phenomenal meals; however, my scallops were out of this world. I recommend to anyone that is going for a special occasion, or a romantic date night out. You will always have flawless customer service when you dine at Fearings."

  • "I went to Fearings expecting a very flavorful, interesting menu. Other than the Lobster Ginger Bisque, the food was ordinary or downright bland. The portions were extremely small, even by Fearings own past history standards. When he was at the Mansion, I would have to go out to eat right after I ate at Fearings. And, he doesn't lack for pricing. When I pay $55 for an entre in Dallas, I expect $55 worth of flavor, etc. Daniels he is not. Joe Mannke, he is not. Overall, the Food was Ok, the Pricing High, but, the Service was very good. The wine selection was not remarkable either. I have seen better wine lists on lesser restaurants. I would rather eat at a Perry's, Capital Grille, or Dakotas--on Akard in Dallas."

  • "Have brought recruiting candidates here after interviews. Always a hit. Service is spectacular. Was unbelievably slow on Labor Day, but was still great dining experience."

  • "The food was fantastic, and the service superb. Lets be clear, at Fearings you are paying for what you get - this place is NOT cheap. In fact, at this point it is the most expensive restaurant to which I have ever taken my wife (or myself for that matter). That said, it was a special occasion and worth every penny. Our waiter, Andrew, was phenomenal, and one of their wine stewards, so he knew the list inside and out. Rather than a stuffy high-brow restaurant - Fearings feels more like some of the high end restaurants in Hawaii. Great food, nice people, I can't wait to go back."

  • "Great place for a special occasion such as an anniversary or to take visitors. Excellent service and food. Very enjoyable. Our party had a variety of dishes and each was perfect, including the "paper bag shook" chicken."

  • "The consistently great experience at Fearing's is commendable. We go 4-6 times / year and whatever room we are in, whatever day we are there, the consistently excellent food, service and overall experience makes Fearing's unique."

  • "We went to Fearing's to celebrate my sister's birthday and all four of us were overwhelmed with the quality of the food and service were were provided. The tortilla soup and lobster bisque were terrific followed by a beef and chicken fried lobster combination. The rib tacos were fantastic, as well. The meal was finished off with a superb banana pudding accompanied by "melt-in -your-mouth" beignets!! My sister got a little chocolate cake with a candle for dessert and a personalized birthday card."
