Fearing'sSave room for dessertEverythig on the menu sounded so good. I will have to go back to experience this place again. As great as the lobster bisque and the Maple-Black Peppercorn Buffalo were, I have to say that the Chocolate Mousse Bomb was one of the most amazing things I have ever had. If you are going to Fearings, hit the treadmill for an extra 15 minutes so you don't have to skip dessert. You will thank yourself later.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat option for vegetariansMy boyfriend and I came to Fearing's for our anniversary because it's one of the few upscale restaurants in town with a vegetarian menu. The atmosphere was really nice--kind of dim lighting and smaller dining areas made the place feel more intimate. I had the famous tortilla soup to start and absolutely loved it. For my main course, I had the sampler and liked everything included. The standout was the butternut squash taquito. Between the starter and the main course, our server brought out a chilled cauliflower soup "shooter," which he specified as vegetarian. It was delicious. We shared the banana pudding for dessert--the best I've had anywhere. I'll definitely be going back for that and to try other entrees.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect ExperienceWe went for lunch. Prices were reasonable but the ambiance was still perfect. The bread that they bring to your table was warm and yummy. I had that tortilla soup and the hubs had the brisket sliders. Both were super tasty. The best part was the dessert. The banana pudding is a must try. Service was impeccable. Overall great experience.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as alwaysMy wife and I love Fearings. We go a couple times per year and always get great service and food. We have both had the staples that are always on the menu as well as trying the new seasonal menu items. This time we ventured to the Buffalo and thanks to the server reassuring me, the antelope. What great items. I will not doubt Chef Fearings menu choices anymore :). I was game to try the movie popcorn soda cake dessert, but my wife wanted more traditional. I might just have to drop in for dessert one night.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood stuffAte here based on D magazine rating. Great food, good ambience and very good service!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMKnocked out of the parkWe had dinner at Fearing's for our anniversary. There is nothing to say negative about this restaurant. The food, service, ambience were outstanding. I had buffalo and my wife had nilgai, and both meals were delectable. Both of these choices were the best prepared that I have ever tasted.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food & Service! We went to Fearings for brunch, and were very satisfied. The servers are awesome and super knowledgeable about the food. Our waitress even warned us about portion sizes so that we didn't order too much food! We really appreciated her telling us the truth rather than pushing us to order more. The tortilla soup was promoted as one of the best menu items, and sure enough, it was out of this world. The chicken fried quail was juicy and crisp-perfect! I enjoyed the french toast, but the mint was slightly over-powering in the tropical fruit salsa. This was our first time at Fearing's, and our brunch experience has made us want to return for lunch!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingThis was a truly outstanding dining experience! Everything was without a flaw, flavors were complex and sensational. Unusual SW dishes that fused southern styles with a SW tang. Very pleasant combination. All four of us ordered different dishes and each one was raving about how good it was.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food, Great atmosphereLove Fearings! Food was wonderful!! We will be back for sure!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA very special placeWe had a quite wonderful meal at Fearings. The food was perfectly prepared & creatively done with unique combinations of flavors. The service was attentive & without being rushed. Wine list unusually diverse. Enjoyed speaking with the chef on two occasions during the meal.
Would love to return6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Meal, fairly noisyWe had an excellent meal of several house specialties. Because we were seated by the kitchen, it was really bustling and somewhat chaotic. If you’re looking for quiet/romantic, ask for the separate “white tablecloth” dining room. Desserts are fabulous, but very large.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection in a dining experienceWorld-class food in a fantastic setting... attentive service that is always about pleasing the guest. Fearing's has the best combination of fine dining and unpretentious, friendly atmosphere we've ever had the pleasure to be a part of. Memorable to say the least...6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPrimary WaiterThe primary waiter was noticeably not as social/engaging as the other waiters handling tables near us. Unfortunately, my wife and I will not be in a rush to plan our next dinner at Fearings.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Flavors, Beautiful LocationWe had fun Saturday night dinner at the highly revered Fearing's at the Ritz. Beautiful space and great decor. Wine list was good and food was flavorful and unique. Or server struggled at times. He spent a lot of time messing with register and just did not have his act together for a $100 a person dining experience. I expected more from the server. I would recommend this restaurant. It a nice spot... not top 10 in D, but very good.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDairy free anniversary dinnerI recently started a dairy free diet because my son is sensitive to milk proteins in my breastmilk. When we made reservations here my husband let them know about it.The waiter asked what entrees I was interested in, went & spoke with the chef, & then came back to tell me my options for modifying it. My husband & I both got a free bowl of tortilla soup (no cheese on mine!). Since I couldn't have the bread they brought me chips & salsa. And lastly because it was our anniversary - a slice of cake for my husband & a bowl of housemade sorbet for me. It was a wonderful night & I didn't feel like I missed out on anything by not being able to have dairy. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone but especially to people with food sensitivities5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFearless FearingA great chef who is not afraid to experiment. Southwest flair, savory dishes. YUM!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch at Fearing'sBeing first timers, slidiing into our booth I noticed
an energetic buzz of voices. Fearing's,
inside the downtown, Four Seasons Hotel
is buzzing during lunch hour.
For our main entree
we both are delighted with grilled to perfection sea scallops, atop
white cheddar cheese grits. Delicious.
If you haven't been - GO!!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMaybe too casualThe food was outstanding, 7 different entrees and everyone raved about theirs but the servers all in untucked shirts (on purpose) creates a strange juxtaposition with the prices of the food and wine - so while I appreciate that the mandatory coat policy of the old Mansion didn't get carried over maybe the went a little too far.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't Be Afraid of Fearing's!All of the staff from the valets and doormen to the hostess and waitstaff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. All of our meals were excellent. I believe you could not go wrong if you just closed your eyes and pointed at the menu. All of us are looking forward to our next visit.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMDifferentAlways good food the recipes are always very different. Try the chicken fried lobester quite amazing5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and foodAmazing champagne brunch. Always enjoy our visits to Fearing's!!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI too my girlfriend to celebrateI too my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday and was not disappointed. The food was superb. The waitstaff was attentive but not obtrusive. And Chef Fearing came to our table to say hello! Overall, a memorable experience that is not to be missed.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favoritesWe strive to dine at Fearing's at least once a month. I've had both dinner and lunch here, but find that the lunch menu is more appealing. The wait staff are attentive and the service is impeccable. Fearing's is also accommodating to those who have food allergies.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperior Customer SatisfactionOur server noticed that I was not eating my Salmon. When he inquired as to why not, I explained that it was over-cooked.
He very kindly offered to have another ordered prepared, but I declined.
So, without me having to ask, he removed the meal from my bill.
I go to other restaurants where first the waiter never even inquires as to my satisfaction with my meal. But, even worse on the rare occasions when they do ask and I am not satisfied they almost never offer to replace it and most certainly do not take it off my bill.
This is why I go to Feaarings on a regular basis, they offer superior quality service, consistently.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a Treat!Fearings is a wonderful dining experience. The staff treats you as if you are the only guest in the restaurant and the food cannot be beat. This time, I had the Dr. Pepper braised short rib and it was to. die. for.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Elevated Southwestern CuisineUnique, inventive, flavor forward cuisine while remaining completely approachable. Unpretentious, friendly atmosphere, outstanding service. The tortilla soup should not be missed!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat spot for a business lunchalways quiet enough for good conversation, food consistently awesome, not cheap but the best seldom is, and much less expensive for lunch relative to dinners.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood "fancy food"There were outstanding parts of each plate.
The antelope was okay... not seasoned enough for me. The rabbit enchiladas, however, were amazing. Ribeye was good... the mop sauce was great but the flavor of the meat was nothing off the charts. The corn bread pudding was delicious, however. There are superb parts to each but together, it wasn't exactly what I was expecting.
I think the problem is when your restaurant makes the top 100 in the United States, the stakes just get higher and the expectation is just too much.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for Sunday brunch.Excellent for Sunday brunch. Food and Service was outstanding5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMunexpected greatnessmy wife & 6y old daughter sat on the patio for dinner, it was outstanding!! Great & fast service..
..5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectWe had a wonderful time at Fearings!! I highly recommend the kitchen table for foodies!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentAlways a great to go to, food is excellent and Dean Fearings the owner is charming and attentive5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNot to be missed when in DallasA great restaurant, a must-eat-at when in Dallas. Dean is a great host, knows food, loves his guests, and suggestions are always right on the mark. The staff are all great, knowledeable and so incredibly helpful. The first courses are fabulous; a taste teaser of what's to come. For the main cousrse last visit I had the pork chop (off the menu); never before have eaten pork as moist or flavorful. The only down side is that I may never be able to eat pork anywhere else. The accompanyments went perfectly (I don't even remember what they were). My daughter had the bone in rib-eye...so flavorful...wow. And the accompanying jalapena bread pudding is so good. After all that unbelievable food, we couldn't think of passing up desert...fantastic.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMi'm in heaven!Exceeds both its excellent reputation and my high expectations. Staff was friendly, helpfull, and professional. The food was the best I've had in any restaurant.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply The Best!Elegant, delicious, outstanding Southwest cuisine!! From the Mopped Ribeye to the Salmon and all the out-of-this-world starters, simply the best! The desserts are as yummy as they get and there is no stopping the imagination of Jill, the pastry chef. And you can't enjoy all this deliciousness without an incredible wine to top it off - just ask for Paul and he will take great care of you! Dean can't do all this without some help - Eric, Sous Chef extraordinaire, is right up front! The staff at Fearing's makes you feel at home and doesn't miss a beat!! Friendliest place ever! Can't say enough about Fearing's!! Love it!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! We decided on this restaurant for our Anniversary celebration and was so glad that we did! Dean Fearing gave us an Anniversary Card signed personally and came by our table and spoke with us for a few minutes. The entire evening was elegant but also with a casual feeling of not being 'stuffy' at all. This restaurant cuisine is unlike any other and is well worth the money spent especially if for a special occasion. We will definitely return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AM5-Star Restaraunt, 5-Star ReviewI chose this restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day and had an excellent experience. I called ahead to have flowers on the table, and they were very helpful, offering a variety of price-points and flower options for me from their floral provider, Bella Flora. When we arrived and were guided to our table, the bouquet was amazing. It had several flowers that neither of us could name but were absolutely beautiful. As for the food, it was perfect although one could hardly expect less from the restaurant within the Ritz-Carlton. The service was wonderful, from the door-to-door valet to the gentleman who unobtrusively and continually filled our water glasses. This was not my first experience with Fearing's, and I sorely hope it will not be my last.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother awesome experience! Not only is the food outstanding, but I cannot recall another restaurant in Dallas where the man whose name is on it came by our table not once, but twice to see how we were enjoying our meal. His food is inventive and delicious while Dean himself is a class act!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA Fabulous Birthday!I invited my friend to celebrate his 50th birthday and t was a smash hit at Fearings! The staff was so fabulous bringing a glass of champagne from thin air and then seated us a t a wonderful table..they are all great. Then the action began with the most incredible food, service and fun!!
My friend being a foodie has dined at every name in Dallas with 5 * but he did not realize he just had the best dining experience of them all in Dallas at Fearings!!
So it was a great day for me as I made the best choice as well as for him!
Thank you Open Table for making it so easy to make reservations at this gem.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!I was there for a business lunch with 5 others, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA Real TreatThe service was precise and timely, yet not rushed. The waitress could not have been nicer. On her recommendation, I ordered the classic tortilla soup, with its 30 year history of fame. Unfortunately it was a bit too spicy to my taste, and I mentioned it and it was immediately replaced by a safe Caesar salad. The main course was salmon, done to perfection as ordered (medium rare) on a bed of crunchy polenta cake and spinach with a spinach taco that was to die for. Having no more room for desert, I was still given a tasty chocolate bon bon which melted in the mouth. The nice touch of free parking was a bonus. I would definitely make this a destination restaurant.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent.Second visit to Fearings. Outstanding food, service, and wine. The staff was extremely helpful, attentive, and respectful. Chef Fearing stopped by the table twice, which was a nice touch. Great business dinner.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery ritzy restaurant in Ritz CarltThis is the sort of place where waiters are always standing by to pull out and push in your seat. This is a fancy restaurant in every sense of the word, with prices to match. The waiters hover obediently and the entrees are priced at $44-48 each. The buffalo steak I ordered rare was cooked to perfection. Appetizers were equally superb. Antelope is also offered on the menu. If you are looking for a special place to celebrate a special occasion, this is it. For anything else, it may be a little over the top. This is NOT a casual restaurant.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBest place in DallasFor a special occasion, or if you're looking to impress, Fearings at the Ritz-Carlton is definitely the stand out resturant in Dallas. The food is beautifully presented, serenly simple (at least on paper!) - but simply delicious. A real treat.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFearingsGreat restaurant by great chef. Our anniversary and we were made to feel specail and at home. I could not ask for anything more. And by the way, the food was excellent!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding dinnerIn Dallas for a conference and a little research suggested Fearings for dinner. We were greeted by Dean Fearing himself and he answered our questions about the menu. We split an appetizer of crabcakes, duck and lobster tacos that was excellent. My husband had the antelope with rabbit tacos and I had the halibut in lobster sauce. Both were excellent. I wish that he would open a restaurant in NYC!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love fearings - creativeWe love fearings - creative and good food with Excellent service5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOur reservation was for 845Our reservation was for 845 but they were running late so we ate at bar. Great experience. Bartenders were attentive and interesting. Access to full dining menu as well as very good bar menu.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and ServiceMy wife and I went to Fearings for the first time (May 2013) and had an incredible experience. The food, service and ambiance was great. We will be coming back.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ambience, great service.Great ambience, great service. Mediocre food for a high-end restaurant like this.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
