  • "This place is consistently inconsistent. The fare can be very good, if you stick to the Mediterranean food. The service is iffy, and usually pretty terrible. The service was close to its nadir last Saturday, with confusion and understaffing the theme. The noise, if the place is more than halfway full, is at a hearing loss level. Opentable needs to have that as part of its noise level rating, as does Yelp. Great property, decent parking, beautiful building with lots of views of the redwoods that highlight its outdoor seating. We were there because the other couple had an offer."

  • "it started at the host stand inside the front door. he ignored the 10-12 people waiting by leaving the stand and going in the back and coming out with the daily special inserts and turning his back to us while putting them in the menus. this should have been done earlier in the day. he finally brought our party of 6 to the round table that i had requested. our waitress was clueless, hardly said 2 words to any of us and had no personality. got the 3 glasses of white wine mixed up and my husband had to flag down both a busboy and our waitress for his salad almost an hour after we were seated. the place was very crowded and the staff seemed overwhelmed. the food was actually good but we won't be back....ever!!"

  • "Was Celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Food was sent back, it was luke warm. Even though I had called to let them know it was a special occasion., that information was never passed on. It was lousy! and this was our second attempt after we had the same service the last time we went with friends. Never again!."

  • "After we had a bottle of restaurant white wine, we had to ask for glasses for a red I'd brought. The glasses were sort of unceremoniously dumped by my side and there was no attempt to remove the empty white wine glasses. When the entrees were brought in I noticed the waiter didn't try to go around the table (there were 6 of us) to place the food in front of each person. Instead he sort of reached across the table a couple of times such that a couple of us got an up close and personal whiff of his body and arm pit odor. Food was nice but nothing to write home about.. I had the rack of lamb - a little under seasoned for me and there was too much dressing on my Caesar salad. Tiramisu dessert was nice. wont go back"

  • "We try places in the area but this one just didn't measure up to the likes of Esin & Piatti. The restaurant's environment is beautiful but we felt overlooked. Places at this price point really nail it with service which is why we return. We wanted to give Faz a try - the bread dipping was delicious. I had the lamb shank as my husband had the salmon. They were tasty but the portions were small. The bosc pear salad was a delight. Our waitress was ok as there were requests we made that she forgot. It was interesting how the manager went around to tables to speak to the guests, but for some reason he didn't visit us. I guess we just weren't good enough. Oh well back to Esin or Piatti as they always are happy to see us & our friends."

  • "We had another fun evening at Faz in Danville, on the patio. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining, and the added soprano saxophone player (with beat box accompaniment) was soothing amidst the beautiful redwoods. Thanks to Maher (I think that's the manager's name) for a great table."

  • "There was no receptionist at the check in. We had to walk into the restaurant to have a server get the receptionist. Service was inattentive and slow ... The shift was not staffed properly. The outdoor tables were not set for dinner. Restaurant did not feel warm and inviting. Such a nice restaurant that unfortunately does not meet its potential to be a local gem."

  • "20 minutes to get a beverage, 20 minutes to order, 20 minutes to get the check. The food was overall fair, but the service was severely under-pare. The management needs to step up and properly train their staff. Its now obvious why Faz always has tables available on busy Friday and Saturday nights, while others in Danville are booked solid."

  • "We were seated in an overflow room with very wobbly tables. The main courses were good, priced high as meals typically are at good restaurants during Valentine Day. Not a problem with the price but I expect appropriate ambience to be included. The lesson learned is always have an understanding in advance where your seating will be if ambience is important for a special meal."

  • "I cannot understand why this restaurant currently has a 3.0-star rating on Yelp (130 reviews). The food and service are each consistently excellent when I go. Maybe I'm just lucky to a probabilistically impossible degree, but I doubt it. For what it's worth, I do get the salmon over 80% of the time, so maybe everything else is just okay and I'm clueless to that fact since the rare times I do branch out, I'm overvaluing my change of routine. Again, I highly doubt it. Recently did my birthday dinner here—party of 14—and everything went flawlessly, including the attention given a 7-year-old girl. Our server, Raoul, whom I requested because I've known him for years now, was fantastic. I highly recommend Faz Danville for any type of outing."

  • "I booked a 6:15pm reservation at Faz for valentines day a month in advance. We were seated in the back of the restaurant which appears to be a place for banquets or group luncheons/dinners. Our dinner choice included 4 courses. We were seated and within 15 minutes our first course was served. We then waited over an hour when I finally got the attention of our waitress. Soon after our salad arrived. There were other guests receiving their second and third courses arriving well after us. The service level was well below expectations however our dinner was very good."

  • "Made a reservation a couple of weeks ago. When we were seated we were told it was a fixed price limited selection menu. Restaurant should have made this clear at time of reservation. $58 per person price was too expensive for the quality of the food and service. Seemed like they brought in extra wait staff for the holiday and they weren't trained that well. Only way I'm going back is for a brick oven pizza and a beer on the patio!"

  • "Foood was good. The service was way below par. Our server wasn't paying attention to her guest. We had to wait awhile for our main course to arrive after the appetizer. When the main course finally arrived, my wifes food was cold and mine was the wrong order given. The server finally realized that it was the wrong order given and gave me what i ordered. She offered no apologies for the oversight."

  • "We invited another couple to Faz for an elegant night out. What a disappointment. First, despite our reservation, we were "invited" to wait in the bar. We ordered drinks and waited at least a half hour in the noisy bar, which made it hard to hear without yelling. When our table was finally ready we were not permitted to pay the tab with the meal, which meant someone had to wait more to pay while the rest of us were seated. Once at the table we had to wAit another half hour just to order , and that was after waiving the waiter down. Service was very poor. As for the food, it was not as good as it used to be. The "special" pomegranate chicken was overly sweet - like jam."

  • "The menu was excellent and the food was excellent. Once at the table, the service team did as good a job as they could as the restaurant was under staffed for sure. The real catastrophe of the evening was the unexplainable wait to get to your table. The host was challenged for sure to get to your table. It was not the host's fault but rather a to aggressive timing for the reservations schedule. We waited with numerous others to get to our table well past 40 minutes beyond our reservation time. The restaurant management was clearly being overly greedy trying to maximize a holiday by piling up reservations and not staffing up enough with the service team. Too bad this happened as the food and friendliness of the service team was excellent."

  • "We visited the restaurant on Valentines Day...they were overwhelmed with people...but still the food was terrific! We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time, the restaurant was obviously full...and after checking in we waited with others by the hostess area/lobby. 20 minutes after our reservation time, I checked in with the hostess to find out where we were on the list...only to learn "someone" must have taken your reservation because your name is crossed off the list. 10 minutes later we were seated. Glad this wasn't my first date with my Valentine!"

  • "We were nervous about going out on Valentine's Day-ALL restaurants are pushed to their limits. But we we so pleasantly surprised! We were seated within 1 minute of arriving, got a table in our favorite area and had our drink order taken with in minutes of being seated. The prix fixe menu was varied, interesting and the meal was delicious. However, once the food started to roll, the busing staff fell apart. They d id not clear plates from previous courses leaving us to stack our empty dishes at the end of our table and handing us plates with no where to put them, no water refills. Very unusual here but again it was Valentine's Day. We will return again and again for the ambiance and the food."

  • "We came here after the restaurant where we had originally made a reservation had a private party that took up all of the bar and most of the restaurant. My wife wanted lamb and where else to have great lamb than a mediterranean restaurant. She had the lamb shank served with fava beans and basmati rice and I had a wonderful rack of lamb which was done perfectly as a medium rare. We just love the seasonings and liberal use of garlic at Faz. Fresh baked flatbread, hot from the wood fired oven is great. Bar is usually full on friday evenings and there is a good piano player for the entertainment"

  • "I love Faz any time of year. Summer is wonderful on their deck by the waterfall under the redwoods. In the winter, my favorite place to dine is actually in the bar area. Come early evening when it's not too crowded and the noise level low. Sit by the fire, enjoy the piano and sax music and a glass of wine. We had dinner too....wonderful sea bass. Great evening...thanks!"

  • "I've been going here for years, and always have the same take-away - the food is great, the dining room is inviting, but the service is poor. On a positive note, the Pomegranate Chicken is always a clear winner, and another guest at our table had the Pork Chop and the Jujeh Kebab - all delicious. We had to ask for bread and wine repeatedly, as our waiter(ess) would take our orders then stand around talking to other wait staff and forget about us. I will go back because the food is that good, but hopefully something will happen with the wait staff and they will get more serious."

  • "There were three different versions of lamb on the menu, and we tried them all! The meat on the lamb shank was so tender it did not need a knife and baghali polow served with it was wonderful...the fava beans in it were tiny and tender. The grilled rack of lamb had a wonderful sauce and the lamb was not over-cooked - I hate over-cooked meat. The lamb kabobs were tasty and simple, and the basmati rice was the right touch to go with it. All the veggie sides were fresh and tender, and the quinoa salad with cranberries was a good start to the meal."

We ordered 4 different dishes- each one was perfect! Lamb shank, grilled salmon, tilapia, chicken kebab- kudos to the chef! All the desserts are out of this world! Glad we made reservations as it was packed as usual!"

  • "this restaurant was overbooked and we waited 35 min to be seated.waiters were kind to pour champagne .once seated it was difficult to be served.Waiters were kind though, to bring a bottle of wine .The food was excellent. Would try another time especially for outdoor dining in the summer.Looks lovely outside."

  • "We have been dining at Faz for many years. it is a favorite for us but not this time! We had an 8:30 reservation, but were not seated until 9:15, no explanation or apology given. Our waiter was very nice but we did not get food until 10 p.m. which was too late for an 8:30 reservation. We were not offered any appetizers, champagne, or wine while we waited; honestly I was so disappointed. Faz is usually generous during happy hour with free appetizers, they should have offered something, or at least covered our corkage fee. When we left at 11:15, again sooo late, the restaurant was pretty much emptied out but still no special attention from the staff. I don't think we will go back on a holiday again, and they used to do holidays so well!"

  • "We have eaten there several times in the past years. However, on New Years Eve, it was really crowded and our 8:30 reservation got us seated at about 9:10. Our service was very slow between courses and the Salmon, when it was served about 10:00, was way over cooked. Our waitress never came by to ask how the food was, or I would have told her. Don't know if we will go back."
