A word from Fascino
Fascino, the brainchild of celebrity Chef Ryan DePersio and his family, is a study in modern Italian food, coined "Italian without borders." Ryan's unique approach is apparent, showcasing his years with world renowned chefs Jean Georges Vongrichten and David Bouley. Achieving a Zagat food rating of 26, it states, a "consistent" "favorite" for its "elegant", "innovative" interpretations of "traditional" dishes (and his mom's "alluring" desserts). Eleven years and going strong, Fascino has been renovated, completely redecorated with a fresh new look, and has a newly expanded menu.Continued

  • "The food was fantastic. All pasta was handmade, the staff was very attentive. I had the lamb shank, which practically fell off the bone. I would definitely recommend."

  • "hate to nitpick, but it was very slow receiving the entrees. We lost a bit of our appetite in between the appetizer and the entree because the wait seemed interminably long. Otherwise, it was fantastic."

  • "My husband and I went to Fascino's last night for our 42nd Anniversary dinner. It was way beyond what we expected. The service, the food, everything about this restaurant was FANTASTIC. We loved the Foie Gras, the Rigatoni with the forest mushrooms and truffle flavor. My husband had the marrow crusted filet mignon - very delicious and I had the halibut which I loved. We could just about fit dessert but had to the gelato was perfect and they added a special touch writing in chocolate happy anniversary. We highly recommend this restaurant!!!"

  • "Fascino offers a special dining experience. We enjoyed a wonderful 5 course tasting that was a unique and wonderful dining experience. Chef Ryan is experienced and skilled at orchestrating unique combinations a flavor that makes the dining experience memorable. The filet mignonette was more than satisfying and the Australian fish was excellent. The desert tasting presentation included spearmint flavored ice cream, fresh cherries and brandy and a chocolate cocoa pastry was a fantastic capstone. The service staff was courteous and attentive making the dining experience first class."

  • "We had our 2nd anniversary dinner at Fascino the other night and the food and service were amazing. They even brought us a complimentary dessert with "Happy 2nd Anniversary" written on the plate in chocolate. Love it here!"

  • "We have always loved the food which is wonderfully prepared and full of intense flavors. We started with fresh oysters on the shell (Wellfleet) and a foie gras that aromatic and melt in your mouth. For primo, we shared the beef and taleggio home made ravioli, nothing better than home made ravioli with this delectable gravy. My husband had the barramundi and I had the scallops -- both perfectly prepared and with wonderful intense flavor. There are many dishes on the menu that I/we are dying to try. We will return soon."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 7th anniversary with a wonderful dinner at Fascino's. Crab cake on roasted beet and celery root salad was delicious although the "super lump" description was a bit of a misnomer (it's hard to impress my Eastern Shore MD native husband). I had the Ramp crusted halibut on baby carrot and English pea risotto which was perfectly cooked. My husband's filet mignon was also just the right doneness but a bit underseasoned. We shared a yummy warm blueberry bread pudding with a special request side of chocolate sauce for dessert. They surprised us with anniversary wishes decorated on the plate and a thoughtful handwritten note from the owner."

  • "Fascinios was a wonderful experience - from the amazingly fresh oysters to the decadent dessert. The ambiance and decor was romantic and the wait staff was very professional without being obnoxious. I would highly recommend it for a special occasion as the cost was on the high side for a BYOB."

  • "This is our second time dining here and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The food was fabulous and the service was impeccable. We will be going back as this has become one of our favorite locations for dining. "

  • "Fascino was one of the original "very good" restaurants in Montclair, and the retooled menu sounds amazing. It just isn't that great in reality. Duck foie gras ravioli was tough, a beet salad had an incredibly bitter taste, octopus too chewy. Over labored service, too much explanation, too many references to Chef Ryan ... and I'm not going to instagram the food with custom hashtags. If you've had seriously good food, this does not measure up at all. Sad, truly wanted to be wowed."

  • "My first experience at Fascino recommended by a friend was wonderful. It was my boyfriend birthday and I wanted to take him someplace special. I picked the perfect place. We had a fabulous meal and the service was impeccable! "

  • "My favorite restaurant because they usually have the best tasting food. "

  • "Fascino's is as good as (if not better) any high end Italian in NYC. The food is always superb, the ingredients fresh, presentation is fantastic. Incredible desserts and always a very attentive staff to serve your every need! My wife and I have been coming for years and will continue to do so. :)"

  • "The Polenta Frites and Arancini were a bit over-cooked. Ricotta Gnocchi melted in your mouth! Rigatoni with mushrooms was delicious. Sea bass and branzino were scrumptious with unusual yet delicious accompaniments. Desserts were equally good - seasonal spin on typical favorites. Service was extremely good and attentive. "

  • "Had dinner there mid-week and the food was excellent. Portions were the right size. You cannot beat a BYOB with great food. Would have liked more meat selections but the Skirt steak was very good and my friend enjoyed the scallops. We split two gnocchi and pappardelle as appetizers. Highly recommended."

  • "Service was excellent. Walter's suggestions were spot on. Highly recommend the foie grois...incredible. The halibut with ramp butter and spring pea risotto also outstanding. Plus , they have a wine menu available if you forgot that it's a BYOB , that delivers within 5 minutes. Great food , great service , and great ambiance !!!!"

  • "Clearly very innovative and creative - Fascino has an intriguing menu, outstanding food, and solid service. Definitely for foodies out there, with creative uses of octopus and sea bass and pork. It is a bit pricey but everything seems fresh and again it is very edgy . The location on Bloomfield Avenue is easy to find though potentially difficult for parking (we were there on a Tuesday nite so not an issue the occasion was my wife's birthday whcih they had made note of and tastefully celebrated with a great dessert presentation (a plate outlined with her name on the edge and birthday wishes). We will definitely try to come back."

  • "Fine in every way: great service, beautifully renovated space, not noisy and most importantly the food was made with love. It was a special birthday dinner and Fascino delivered, right down to the complimentary plate with Happy Birthday written in chocolate script. Highly recommend. "

  • "The menu has a nice variety of options from appetizers for the table to a vegetarian tasting menu. The best dishes we tried were the gnocchi and the scallop crudo. Both were light and flavorful. The prices are reasonable and it's a BYOB. "

  • "I just love Fascino. The menu changes seasonally and the level of quality and consistency is extremely high. I had a ramp crusted halibut on a bed of heavenly spring pea risotto and my husband had black bass on fresh asparagus and I believe asparagus puree. We shared a deconstructed ceasar salad to start, a super crisp romaine stock each with a lemony vinaigrette and freshly shaved Parmesan cheese. Given an endless budget of both cash and calories I would be there once every two weeks:)."

  • "Way too often a restaurant has a reputation that it does not deserve. This is one of them. When we can cook better tasting food, we find the restaurant a waste of time and money. Limited menu, lack of creativity."

  • "I can"t say enough about the great service. We were late for our reservation and had tickets for an event in the area, and as soon as we walked into the restaurant the owner asked if we were going to an event this evening. She assured us we would get there on time. I have to say, I didn't feel rushed and got to the event on time. And had an amazing meal."

  • "My husband and I were quite impressed. The food (marscapone polenta fries, ricotta gnocchi, panchetta wrapped bronzini, and buttermilk baked chicken) was delicious! The staff was very attentive. BYOB is always nice. I'm looking forward to my next visit."

  • "Very attractive, elegant, and quaint dining room. Service was spot on. Only complaint, food was a bit under-seasoned, but hardly unpleasant."

  • "We have dined here many times since it first opened but this was our first since the remodeling. The menu is still limited. We weren't warned about the intensity of spice on the tuna tartare and the rest of the meal was lackluster. This was an anniversary dinner which fell short of our expectations."

  • "Fascino is, hands down, our favorite restaurant. It never disappoints! The food is outstanding, the service is impeccable, and my wife and I can actually have a conversation without having to raise our voices. As is typical in Montclair, it is BYOB, which keeps the bill affordable."

  • "New favorite restaurant. Everything on the menu looked wonderful making it difficult to make a decision. Had oysters, and beef carpaccio for appetizers. Awesome. Then we had the lamb and marinated duck as entrees. Very tasty. The desert sampler is to die for. Service was impeccable. The meal was timed perfectly. Overall an excellent decision to go and would highly recommend this restaurant to others. Go and enjoy."

  • "My husband and I decided to try Fascino based on great reviews and location. We had reason to celebrate and wanted somewhere a notch above where we may normally choose. The food was excellent and fresh but we both found the choices limited and there was that something special just missing we had hoped for. Love that it is a byob and service is excellent."

  • "Since our last visit the restaurant remodeled and changed the menu. The rooms are rather unexciting and there is little buzz. The back room is particularly dark and uninviting. There are fewer options for people who prefer light, vegetarian dishes, and little that is vegan. Courses seem heavier, as do desserts. The service was spotty, servers often seen chatting rather than checking water, refilling wine glasses, or checking on satisfaction. But the food was well-prepared and plentiful. We used to go for special evenings. This was a pedestrian one."

  • "After hearing about Fascino's numerous times from friends we decided to try it. Our waiter (Tony) was very nice and knowledgeable. We shared the evening special, veal stuffed ravioli as an appetizer and it was delicious.. A delicate ravioli stuffed with chunks of veal and a wonderful light brown sauce and freshly grated cheese. My wife ordered the marsala glazed duck breast entrée. It was cooked perfectly and the marsala sauce was absolutely delicious. I ordered the fennel-dusted scallops with prawns. The scallops were perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. For desert we shared the warm fuji apple crostata that was amazing. We plan on returning again and believe the restaurant is worthy of the accolades and good reviews it has received."
