"The atmosphere of Fascino, with its minimalist cream and deep red decor, borders on stark but not casual. The complexity's in the entrees, where flavors, scents and textures fuse seamlessly. Puree of kobacha squash soup with oregano crema and hazelnut oil wins the intriguing appetizer award, and the paper-thin sheets of beef carpaccio with truffle oil and petite salad are a beef purist's dream.   • "I just love Fascino. The menu changes seasonally and the level of quality and consistency is extremely high. I had a ramp crusted halibut on a bed of heavenly spring pea risotto and my husband had black bass on fresh asparagus and I believe asparagus puree. We shared a deconstructed ceasar salad to start, a super crisp romaine stock each with a lemony vinaigrette and freshly shaved Parmesan cheese. Given an endless budget of both cash and calories I would be there once every two weeks:)."

We were late for our reservation and had tickets for an event in the area, and as soon as we walked into the restaurant the owner asked if we were going to an event this evening. She assured us we would get there on time. I have to say, I didn't feel rushed and got to the event on time. And had an amazing meal."

We weren't warned about the intensity of spice on the tuna tartare and the rest of the meal was lackluster. This was an anniversary dinner which fell short of our expectations."

  • "After hearing about Fascino's numerous times from friends we decided to try it. Our waiter (Tony) was very nice and knowledgeable. We shared the evening special, veal stuffed ravioli as an appetizer and it was delicious.. A delicate ravioli stuffed with chunks of veal and a wonderful light brown sauce and freshly grated cheese. My wife ordered the marsala glazed duck breast entrée. It was cooked perfectly and the marsala sauce was absolutely delicious. I ordered the fennel-dusted scallops with prawns. The scallops were perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. For desert we shared the warm fuji apple crostata that was amazing. We plan on returning again and believe the restaurant is worthy of the accolades and good reviews it has received."

The food was excellent and fresh but we both found the choices limited and there was that something special just missing we had hoped for. Love that it is a byob and service is excellent."

  • "New favorite restaurant. Everything on the menu looked wonderful making it difficult to make a decision. Had oysters, and beef carpaccio for appetizers. Awesome. Then we had the lamb and marinated duck as entrees. Very tasty. The desert sampler is to die for. Service was impeccable. The meal was timed perfectly. Overall an excellent decision to go and would highly recommend this restaurant to others. Go and enjoy."

  • "Since our last visit the restaurant remodeled and changed the menu. The rooms are rather unexciting and there is little buzz. The back room is particularly dark and uninviting. There are fewer options for people who prefer light, vegetarian dishes, and little that is vegan. Courses seem heavier, as do desserts. The service was spotty, servers often seen chatting rather than checking water, refilling wine glasses, or checking on satisfaction. But the food was well-prepared and plentiful. We used to go for special evenings. This was a pedestrian one."

I didn't like that you had to use your credit card to obtain a reservation. Also, finding a place to park was difficult. I think there are better restaurants in the area. I probably won't go back."

  • "We came to Fascino on the recommendation of an Italian friend, as our son's girlfriend is partial to Italian food. We had a wonderful experience. The food was exquisite, to the point where we all ordered dessert even though we were absolutely stuffed. I had the lamb chops, beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection, and the gnocchi were out of this world. We shared appetizers--they were all delectable. The service was fabulous--unobtrusive, gentile, extremely helpful. We loved the leather booths. It was a relaxing, memorable evening and we will definitely return. Thank you!"

When I called ahead to confirm the reservation, they told me they would prepare a birthday plate, but also surprised my boyfriend with a birthday card. The entire evening was absolutely wonderful. Loved the atmosphere here. I would definitely come here again."

  • "No contest. Best we ever had outside of NYC. Could not believe it. The chef has a nack for creating special dishes. We will go often, but not too often. Of course parking is an issue in this neighborhood, but don't let that stop you. My first time here and the judges, chefs mother, knew it immediately and made us welcome. (She rules the pastries FAB!) Many dishes here are unique, invented by the chef - so just can't be matched anywhere!! Unbeleivable find."

  • "We celebrated my wife's birthday with dinner at Fascino. The atmosphere and service were impeccable. Attentive waitstaff remained available throughout. The food was good, mains matched nicely with sides, many creative menu items. Preparation was a little bit less than I expected. Salmon was inconsistent from one end of the filet to the other and arrived slightly warm. Bronzino was pancetta wrapped but also had a stuffing of some kind, maybe more pancetta? Was unexpected and seemed strange. Short Rib ravioli was the highlight of the meal. Well prepared and delicious. My expectation based on the ratings I had seen, was a little higher, but that said it is still a very nice restaurant for an occasion and the food was good to very good."

Feeling welcomed as we arrived 5 min late for our 9pm reservation on 1/31/14, our experience only improved by every passing moment. From the service, to accommodation, to each course of our meal we had a wonderful time. We've eaten at 6 or 7 places on Bloomfield Ave over the last few years, some of which we have been to more then once but for sure this has been the best! We hope to be back soon."

  • "If a party of 2, could be seated in a booth or a tiny table. We had the tiny table which was really the only negative of the evening. The seafood chowder was very good (broth was brown though not a typical Manhatten or New England). Romaine wedge was delicious but a little pricey for what it was. The Cod was very good a little spicy for tastes of person who ordered it. Short Ribs were very good. The Apple crostada w/cinnamon gelato was delicious, crust was flaky apples warm. The molten chocolate cake came w/ hazelnut gelato also good. Overall would definitely recommend Fascino, but for serving size seems a little pricey."

  • "Our reservation was late (9pm) due to attending other earlier events. I thought that I would never eat that late and would have to take a doggie bag home. Not so. My appetizer was the romaine salad wedge. Fabulous and innovative! I ate every morsel. My entree was the squid ink bucolinin (sp?) with crab. Wonderful, favorful, and light. Nothing left on my plate to take home. We bypassed dessert this time but will certainly induldge on our next visit which will be soon and for an earlier hour. Loved it!!!"
