  • "My son and I met here for lunch on a beautiful Marin day. We sat outside and shared three menu treats. The salmon entree and the artichoke heart appetizer were amazing combinations of flavors, textures etc...fresh, delicious and beautiful to look at. We also had the crab/avocado entree which was really good but not the same level of delicious and complex flavors as the other two items. The crab was fresh and bright and yet the was a little something missing for me. I would definitely return."

  • "Service was a bit slow for table of 5-very professional - just not sure what the time drag was about? Surely this was isolated experience. Visually gorgeous food!"

  • "Our experience was very disappointing. The hostess at lunch is always great. She is a sweetheart. Our waitperson didn't have a clue about our diet soda, food, etc. hen after waiting awhile for her to come back, we get another person who was great. The whole scene was not great. I think people who work there are to busy talking, not looking over to see if customers are in need of help, etc. We were sitting inside, usually we sit outside. Restaurant is good, but need more attention with what they do, pay MORE attention The waiter we finally had (he) was great, tall, redhead. Too bad we really weren't treated well in the beginning. Not worth trip from Mill Valley."

  • "It took ONE HOUR for our cocktails to be delivered, and even though people kept walking by carrying water pitchers, we were ignored in terms of water, also. The food took almost as long to come, about 45 - 50 minutes after the drinks! Absolutely unacceptable, and not one apology from our server."

  • "Top dollar restaurant for Marin. Although the food was good, peppermint tea was great, but the service was poor. Charged for bread! Who does that in the U.S.? Air conditioning set too cold (although most restaurants do this to keep staff cool while customers freeze)"

  • "We visit and lunch in many restaurants and many locations both local, domestic and abroad. The Farm Shop was wonderful. Delicious and well presented food; gracious and attentive wait staff; a good experience. This is my second trip and it was as enjoyable as the first."

  • "We have a very lovely and romantic anniversary dinner. Service was excellent and the scallops were outstanding. A perfect evening."

  • "I love the restaurant, the bar and sitting out side. All the dishes have a little twist to them, to make it a little different. They do a great job. The big negative I have is that it is way to expensive."

  • "This place is good but it's pretty darn pricey for lunch. I haven't had the experience of dinner here, just yet, but this was more expensive than most lunches in SF."

  • "Food was very good. All items Innovative and well prepared. Presentation of the dishes were all exciting! I ordered several items hollies Mollies, Santarella Stracciatella, maple syrup added a nice touch. Chicken liver mousse well prepared."

  • "We started our meal by waiting 35 mins for our beverage order. Seemed odd as the restaurant was not full. The meal service was inconsistent. It wasn't until our entrees were about to be served that I was told they were out of my entree-squash tart although they recovered well and had my new order out very quickly. Food was great. Straciatella was creamy and flavorful. The crispy artichokes - my favorite. Pizza had deep flavor but the crust center was underdone. I savored the olives with marcona almonds - the goat feta was perfect. The bandaged cheddar dessert was good but the cheese could have been sharper - the combo of that cheddar with the chocolate & brittle was surprisingly harmonic. All agreed ferry ride was worth it!"

  • "The service was extremely slow and it was disappointing as we were celebrating a birthday. The waiter kept saying our food was coming and promised it was on its way and it never showed up and I had to get up to ask where it was. Also they were not filling water and I had to ask the manager to do it and he didn't even ask how we were doing. We left and didn't even have dessert as we were so frustrated with the service. I mentioned to manager on the way out that we were disappointed by the service and his response to me was "yes, it seemed like that" and he didn't apologize or ask for us to comeback. The only thing they did was waive our corkage fee for a screw top bottle. I will think twice coming here again for the big ego & bad service."

  • "I love Farm Shop. However, to wait 1.5 hours for a medium rare steak that came well done, is absurd. The waiter and manager were very accommodating to recook it but after it finally arrive the 2nd time my 80 yo mother didn't care for it then. It seems like they have a BIG problem when it comes to executing the timing with appetizers and the meals. Long wait times. I feel for the waiters that will ultimately suffer in their tips because of the lack of kitchen management. I want to go back but maybe next time for drinks and apps only."

  • "I had a great experience with Farmshop! I had originally set the reservation for 6 and last minute had to change to 7.....the table was a little tight but was accomodated with ease. The food was delicious and the service was great! I would definately plan another work dinner meeting at Farmshop. The only downside was that the bartender was not very friendly..........I got there early before my party arrived and sat at the bar for awhile. He could have been nicer.............but other than that it was a great experience! Professional and classy! thank you!"

  • "Enjoy meeting friends here to share apps and vino. The Yellowtail marinated in beet juice was over the top perfect. The spiced baby carrots side dish had lovely flavor and texture. The burrata delectable...but throw in an extra half slice of bread, wouldja?! The beet salad just average. Nice service and interesting wine choices."

  • "I've been to Farmshop a couple of times before, and thought it was very good. Went the other night, and things seemed off. First, when we arrived at 8:00, without a reservation, they told us all they had available were the first-come-first-served seats at the bar. They didn't offer us a table if we waited a bit, so we went outside and looked at Open Table on my cell phone, and saw that there was a reservation for 8:30 and booked it. When we returned 20 minutes later, the woman didn't even remember us, and we saw many empty tables. Our server was very nice and attentive. We decided to get 3 appetizers and a pizza. Nothing really stood out. The pizza was a bit soggy, and the squash blossoms were heavy. Not sure I will return."

  • "I would probably give 4.5 stars, if there were half stars. The online menu didn't actually match what was at the restaurant, so be prepared. The bread is fresh and baked just right (a little burnt), but not free. We got a quail appetizer that was fabulous. She got one of the pizzas that was really good. I ordered an octopus pasta that was also pretty good. We got a cheese plate for dessert, and the cheese and jam were both great, but the bread was a little fruitcake-y (but fresh). We got there at 7:15 on a Saturday night and were seated immediately, even though our reservation was not until 8 p.m. We were seated in a corner with a great view of the restaurant as it filled up, and the people-watching was worth it."

  • "The service was very good, but to be honest it was very expensive. Considering the decor, noise, and no real view, it really was not worth the price. The food was good, not great. Our favorite of the evening was the hot fairy cocktail! Well worth indulging. So, four of us went for dinner and all decided no need to return unless we sat at the bar."

  • "I have been to Farmshop twice before. The first time service was excellent and food was pretty good. Second time I went service was awful and food was just ok. This visit was totally different. The server we had was outstanding and the food was amazing. Not only was our server well informed on the menu items, attentive and friendly all of the other wait staff was also great. The appetizers, entrees and dessert were all delicious. We will definitely go back. So happy we had such a great experience this time."

  • "It was quite windy and so we sat inside for dinner. There were many people at the bar. We ordered drinks and then 10 minutes later, ordered food. Our food came before our drinks. Our waiter told us that the bartender was very backed up. I guess! The chicken was very very good. The avocado hummus, which was great our first time here, was mediocre and watery. The burrata was not beautifully displayed. We got a pizza and they actually gave us pizza scissors to cut the pizza ourselves. It was kind of silly."

  • "Took my brother in law and wife there for his birthday. The Sea Bas I had was excellent (would have licked the plate clean if I wasn't in public). BIL has Spaghetti Nera and he liked it very much. Sister has a salad ,something-something rice (not listed on the online menu and I don't quite recall the name) and she felt the flavors blended together perfectly and the presentation was excellent. All in all, it was an outstanding dinner, good service, great wine selection."

  • "Although we had a good meal, it didn't live up to the rave reviews I'd heard. Most dishes were underseasoned -- yes, I know the fresh flavors are supposed to dominate, but in most of the cases (avocado hummus, Codfish fritters, swordfish) they were just bland. Burrata was very good, brussels sprouts -- overcoming my boyfriend's skepticism about them not being in season -- were terrific. Good for Marin, wouldn't go out of my way in the city."

  • "we ordered the blue cheese appetizer and it didn't come with bread. It took 30 minutes to get several slices of totally ordinary bread that we had to pay for. What a crock! Artichoke soup was bland. Quinoa was greasy. The steak was good, This place is seriously over-rated."

  • "Nice patio for lunch. Busy and noisy. Service ok. Food just ok. Green Salad ordinary. Crab avo salad good. Chicken undercooked- rubbery poached. Forgot crackers and charged us. Would not recommend. Probably would not go again or if I do order more decadently from menu! Sandwiches looked yummy."

  • "This was a good choice for our anniversary, an innovative menu without a trip over the bridge. The service was great. I also appreciated the lack of "attitude" one encounters at some restaurants trying too hard to be "cool". There were not as many choices on the menu as I would have liked, but the wine list was creative. The chicken mousse was delicious, but there was not enough bread. The absence of bread seems to be an ongoing problem at FS. The beets were fine, a huge portion, not enough cheese to balance the acid. The brussel sprouts were too hot for me; I can't jump on the chile bandwagon. I appreciated not feeling crowded and the music was perfect; we could converse without shouting but notice when an old favorite played."

  • "This was my second experience at Farm Shop and it was just as disappointing as the first one. I really wanted to have a delicious meal as I was so happy to have found Latkspur Landing with all it's charm. On this occasion the staff was wonderful but the food was forgettable. I ordered the chicken salad as did my friend and we both found it uninteresting. The assortment of lettuces were dried out, the chicken was undercooked, and the serving was quite small. On my first visit I sent back my fish as it tasted stale and very unappetizing. Hopefully the food will improve in this restaurant as it is a lovely spot with a very pleasant outlook."

  • "I can't rave enough about the food at Farmshop Marin. Not only are the ingredients the season's freshest, but the unexpected flavor combinations are a delight for foodies like me. It makes dining out an adventure. The restaurant is a bit noisy, but what can you do? The place is really popular, for good reason."

  • "We were disappointed because they ran out of several items after our order was in. They did magucally find some brussell sprouts but they were not the best I've had. By and large what we did end up with was good but the food quality was uneven as was the service. The waitress always managed to interrupt the flow of conversation and tried to upsell us to more expensive wine. Given the reviews (and prices) on this restaurant I was really surprised how mixed our experience was."

  • "The food at FarmShop while simple in its design is an amazing burst of complex flavors in your mouth. the avocado hummus is so colorful on the plate it is a wonderful way to start the meal. The service was excellent even with the annoying complication of my dining companion arriving over 40 minutes late. They never made me feel I was wasting space that they could be filling with paying clients. thanks Great Spot"

  • "After an average meal at Farm Shop only the week before, they fully redeemed themselves with a completely outstanding meal last night! Four of us dined, and we all had excellent dishes. While occasionally inconsistent, they can really produce some excellent meals."

  • "Second trip to farmshop was very disappointing. Felt quality of food had gone down. Seriously overpriced. Wine pour really small. My dining partner ordered a wine that was poured at the bar and it was more generous than the pour I ordered which was poured at the table. Manager claimed the glasses are so big that their six ounce pour looks small. Bull s...t. Desserts mediocre. Coffee awful. We wanted to have a drink in the bar before our 5:30 dinner reservation and sat in a booth. It took 15 minutes before our drinks came about the time the hostess came to tell us our table was ready. She did not offer to carry our drinks to our table. Bus boy was great. Waiter efficient. One of the really delicious choices is the sparkling water."

  • "We had heard good things about this place, but our experience did not prove to be so. Our waitress was inexperienced, the service was slow and incompetent. For a farm to table restaurant, the abundance of produce was not evident. There was no creativity to the dishes and everything was overpriced."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "Roast chicken and halibut entrees excellent. Only disappointment were the appetizers: ahi tuna and crispy artichokes. Both were tiny, tiny to be shared and way over-priced for what was on the plate."

  • "The food at Farmshop is good, very good in fact. However the service is so unbelievably pretentious, it's almost a joke. It would be laughable, except their arrogant attitude borders on rude. They charge for bread--it is not even served with a cheese plate appetizer. The waiter told me that Jersey ricotta was the name of the supplier, rather than the cattle breed. Really? But on closer questioning he couldn't articulate why Jersey cattle are "called out"--his words. Farmshop is another Marin flash in the pan--the crowds are already beginning to thin, and by 9 pm, the restaurant was almost empty. I'm not impressed by arrogance."

  • "This is the second time visiting this restaurant- we will not go back. The service was very stiff, not welcoming and non communicative. Our reservation was for 8pm, it was my birthday. We made no special requests for the birthday, just wanted a special meal with good service. We ordered appetizers after waiting for our waiter for about 15-20 minutes. The appetizers came in about 20 minutes. The wait was almost one hour before our entrees arrived-it was almost 9:30 pm. We got no apologies or explanations of the wait time from our waiter. The table next to us had similar service, and their lamb went back because it was overcooked. We decided to skip dessert as it was getting too late for a work night. The service does not match the price."
