A word from Farmshop Marin
Farmshop Marin is Jeff Cerciello’s second outpost which opened in 2013 in the heart of the Marin Country Mart in Larkspur. It follows in the footsteps of Farmshop Los Angeles, the acclaimed restaurant and artisan market that opened in the Brentwood Country Mart in 2010. Farmshop Marin features its signature fare of pristine California-centric ingredients and refined yet comforting dishes.
The impressive 6,500 square foot space features a comfortable and elegant dining room, outdoor patio, expansive full-bar area seating 50 people, a lounge, a private dining room seating 60, and an open-hearth wood-burning oven and grill. A new gathering space for Marin locals & ferry commuters, the restaurant offers the impeccably-sourced, seasonal California fare Farmshop has come to be known for, with additional pizza, fish and meats fresh from the wood-burning oven and grill. Farmshop Marin serves lunch and dinner daily, and has a vibrant bar scene daily until close.

First time at FoodShop for a business dinner. Service was a little slow, especially drinks, and server did not provide a lot of guidance on choices or course to experience what was fresh and in season. Food was excellent but the it was not the dining experience I was expecting. Would go again but lesser expectations on the dining experience side.

Space is good, with an upbeat bar. Low lighting and very small font made reading the menu impossible. (we're seniors, but not by much!) Multiple wait staff- so no consistency in service. Our "main" waiter was nice ,but not particularly attentive. Food was highly salted which took away from the seemingly well prepared short rib Ragu on the house made gnocchi. Suggested Pinot on tap was tasteless. I would be open to trying again, but certainly would not rush there to do so.

I was impressed with the style of the restaurant when we first arrived, the place is gorgeous! Our cocktails and appetizers were excellent as well. We shared the burratta and chicken liver mousse. For our entrees, I had the scallops which were perfectly cooked. And my husband the gnocchi, which were delightful pillows with a good sear on some edges. Sadly I had to take away a star on the food because there was so much salt his gnocchi were hardly edible. My scallops were heavily salted but not so hard to eat. We had a show to catch, so there was really no time to ask the kitchen to correct our dishes. Certain elements of our dishes were great, but less salt please!

Took our family out to celebrate a special occasion. Good food and presentation, service was fine if a little intrusive, the ambiance if spartan 'chic', portion sizes were good, plenty of vegetarian and G-F options. Entrees (other than pizza) are priced starting around ~$30, and everything is ala carte, which makes it pricey even for (or because it's?) Marin. Nice wine list which you'd expect for the area. Bottom line: Nice, expensive, dinner for three, but nothing really stood out.

The food here is always great. The atmosphere is not your most romantic as it can get a bit "energetic," but you can make anything "romantic" if you put your mind to it! I can't speak to the wine list as I don't drink myself, but my party seemed to be happy with their selection..... Always a good time at Farmshop Marin!

We were excited to go to the Farm Shop with friends from out of town as we had been there before and had good service and great food. Unfortunately it was a very bad experience this time. We brought our own wine which they took and chilled. We had to ask three times for it to be poured at least 15 minutes after seated. The $48.00 steak that my daughter ordered came out under cooked and then when it can back the second time it was way over cooked with no apology. Again wine glasses totally empty before the server can over to ask if we wanted more of our wine. Finally as we were finished we had to ask for a dessert menu-the server did not offer. For the $300.0+ price this was terrible and I would not recommend to my friends.

$48.00 for a steak? We passed on that. $15.00 for a tiny tomato salad? $18.00 for a meh, doughy-crusted pizza. And $4.50 for an order of bread--really?. Service was slow, our salad and pizza arrived at the same time and the pizza was served with a pair of scissors so you could cut it yourself. Absurd or overly precious. We sent the pizza back so we could share the tiny salad on the small plates we had. When the pizza was served (how can a crust be burnt and doughy at the same time), we had to use the same plates we used for the tiny tomato salad. I don't mind paying a premium but the food better be special and the service excellent. Won't be coming back and will recommend that our friends stay away.

For the price, I didn't expect the number of families with small children eating there. Reservation times were limited even though we reserved way in advance, but the restaurant was not full. Service was slow. Salad greens I had to cut myself as the pieces were too big. Portions overall were too small. I had to share my dinner with my husband because he was still hungry. Bright spots, oysters were good, chicken as well, and the desserts, especially the meringue and chocolate ones were outstanding.

We sat in the shade outside - highly recommended. (Note we did have to move from first table, which was not shaded and was scorching). Once under the shade structure all was well! Service friendly and resonantly paced. Food was delicious, well prespared, and very well plated and presented. Love the local/organic focus. Interesting wine list and good variety of wines by the glass - very happy for that. Prices make it unlikely for me to become a regular, but I will definitely come again!

I love this place!! Reminds me of a mix between a private club in London, bar lounge with interesting twists on cocktails, great, local, seasonal menu - good, honest food. Great, friendly, personal service, ambiance AND great selection of music hand chosen by the Chef du Maison, Jeff Cerciello - formally of Le Bouchon and even further back El Bulli (greatest respect and kudos!). It's a Marin gem and always greeted with a smile, great food and great service!

We were there for lunch and had an outdoor table. Pleasant location, excellent service. The dishes we ordered were are very fresh and beautifully presented, but the portions were tiny. And I mean small. My friend was satisfied with what she ordered, but after 2 plates, I walked away hungry. This is one of those places you should plan to order several dishes and share. The ingredients are fun combinations, carefully prepared, and it's clear the kitchen is not afraid to experiment.

… but GREAT is a better rating! We shared several plates and were wowed by all of them. Perfect harmony of flavors. The pizza was wood fired with polka dots of dark on the "bones" which were kind of scary but the taste was beyond perfect. Their version of cheese with figs on toast was mouthwatering. Our steak and eggs should have been at least unexciting but the meat was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. For desert it was goat cheese cheese cake (yeah really) that was a tiny bit tangy but oh so yummy. And the pudding/mousse/decadence was a bit of heaven. We can't wait to find an excuse to go back! If you’re on a budget just go for the pizza -- it’s 100% fresh, they grow the herbs and tomatoes right outside the restaurant!

Have been wanting to have dinner here for ages, having had drinks/appetizers. The menu is limited which would be okay if it wasn't so expensive. I rarely order chicken but I did since it was the only entree I would eat below $30 ($26). I wanted the Diver scallops but at $36 for three I would probably leave hungry. It was quite good, I love all the appetizers and sides, but they are really expensive as are cocktails and desserts. A dessert to split at $10 was disappointing (butterscotch mousse w/meringue that was mostly a puff of thick, hard meringue with a little bit of mousse in the middle-very sugary). We had two chicken entrees, one glass of wine, one dessert and one side-$104 before tip. Hope they bring prices down, then we'll be back.

Had been to a "ladies birthday lunch" a few wks back and referred a cousin that she try Farm Shop. She'd stopped by with a friend who said it was "not for him" and was disappointed to not go. So my husband and I took her the other night! I ordered & they were THRILLED with everything I'd chosen and ate EVERY morsel! We all were satisfied and stuffed! The wait staff could not have been nicer or better informed. They made the evening perfect and we did not feel rushed to leave our table. It was nice to sit in another room, as the lunch I attended was in the private section. We all agreed it was a perfect venue for either type of celebrating. Can't WAIT to go back again. The noise level was a bit hi, but realize there is little one can do :-(

My friend and I dined at Farmshop Marin on Sept 13 2014 for a light supper. The restaurant is attractive and trendy. The menu is imaginative and creative, featuring seasonal fresh vegetables and organics. I ordered the one salad on the menu - baby lettuces, which was very fresh, generously proportioned and tasty. The only drawback was some grit/sand in a few of the lettuce bunches. My dining partner tried the mushroom sausage pizza, and it was also plenty for a meal. We will definitely be returning to sample some of their dinner entrees and also to try out their brunch. It is a great addition to the revitalized Larkspur Landing center now known as the Marin Country Mart.

We were seated directly under an air vent pumping out very cold air, and asked to be moved. Wine by the glass from a bottle came out quickly, wine by the glass "on tap" took a long time. There was a very long wait between appetizer and main course. Main course (pasta) was too spicy for our taste. We won't hurry back.

We have dined at Farmshop a half dozen times but our recent Sunday evening dinner left us cold. The food was great but the service was poor. This started with the seating. We were directed to a table that placed two of us facing a glaring sun. We requested tables with no sun, which were available, but were refused and were relocated instead to a less desirable table still with sun glare. We noted at the end of our meal that the two non sun tables we inquired about had remained empty. This initial bad experience was compounded by a young waiter who conveyed an arrogant and condescending approach to service. We all agreed that we would likely not return unless we heard that their approach to service had changed.

Greetings, I went out with two of my besties to celebrate my birthday. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered the artichoke and were surprised that, when it arrived, it was lots of fresh mozzarella with olive oil, pesto and pine nuts and two tiny artichoke hearts. They appeared more as a garnish! It was served with bread and was delish. But since so much mozzarella was left over, I ordered more bread. The server (bus boy?) repeated, "you want more bread?" as if to confirm an unusual request. Next, a woman appeared, not our waitress and asked if indeed we wanted more bread? Surprised, I indicated, yes, please... Finally, a fourth person came to our table and literally presented the bread. Seriously? Dinner was good. Bar was hopping...

We're eaten dinner at the Farm Shop twice and have been disappointd both times. The food is ordinary and when anything is asked for, there is a hesitation and a slight resistance. Salt is brought as if it were platinum. The pizza was soggy and banal. Bread is an additional $5 charge, and then when our Salumi plate arrived there was enough bread for an army. The garden salad--$14.50--was gritty. Inedible! The wait staff tries desperately to remove plates before everyone is finished eating--a pet peeve, since it makes those still eating seemed rushed-- and asks entirely too many times if everything is "OK". In additon, at night, the lighting is so dim one needs to use an iPhone flashlight to read the menu. .

We visited on Labor Day and were disappointed. The service was weird: the kitchen seemed to prepare the dishes in random order, so we got one appetizer right away, then the other 20 minutes later immediately followed by the entree, and then a side dish 10 minutes later. The server seemed preoccupied and not clued in to our experience. He didn't put in our order for the heirloom tomato salad, so we never got to try that. Scallops entree was way overpriced, $36 for 3 lukewarm scallops, which were fine but accompanied by 2 charred baby artichokes and some boring saffron couscous. Some of the prices are reasonable, e.g. a nice glass of sauv blanc for $9 and good vegetable sides under $10, but we had expected more from this overhyped restaurant.
