A word from Farmshop LA
Farmshop, opened in 2010, is a Restaurant and an Artisanal Market & Bakery located in the historical 1948 Brentwood Country Mart on 26th Street in Santa Monica.

Jeff Cerciello's cuisine focuses on seasonal local ingredients. Irene Verbila from the LA Times wrote " Sunday nights at Farmshop are devoted to fried chicken… it's the best...but the bird I'm nominating as one of the 10 Best Meals is Cerciello's organic roasted chicken...golden and crisp, the flesh dense yet moist, each bite was better than the last."

In addition to highlighting fresh local produce, Farmshop offers a 300 choice California-centric wine list, a market with curated cheeses, charcuterie, artisanal foods and housewares, all an homage to the many California based farmers, producers and purveyors we are proud to showcase.

The food is imaginative and unique. The wine list by both the bottle and glass is diverse in both price and grape options. This is one of the best places to finish off your wine with a cheese selection. Terrific date spot for people who enjoy trying new foods and combinations but can get a little loud.

I had several recommendations to go here when visiting LA. The store was adorable and everything looked scrumptious! For a Thursday late afternoon / early evening, the restaurant was surprisingly empty. It was a bit agitating that OpenTable said there were only seats available for 2 at 5:45 or 8pm. We were there from 5:30 - 7 and the restaurant was still relatively empty; only a few tables were sat when we were there. As for the food, we shared a cheese plate which was delicious with the interesting sauce/jam pairings. My friend had the bowl of soup and found it quite good. I had the artichoke small plate and loved it! I would definitely revisit Farmshop.

The food here is former but imaginative. It's very fresh and plated beautifully. The initial srink service abd taking our order was a little slow but we were not in a rush so it didn't matter. Some dishes were a tad too spicy for some if us so be sure to ask. Otherwise delish!

Our recent lunch included the sharing of an excellent pastrami sandwich which had sauerkraut on the sandwich and cole slaw on the side. Why all of the cabbage? Order of $10.50 side of fries was so disappointing. Even the waiter apologized for the pre-cut fries. The "homemade ketchup was tasteless. The FOH always seems a bit disorganized. This is a nice neighborhood place but I have lowered my expectations. I should add that I have been there dozens of times for lunch and have never gotten that "wow"factor. I might also add that the markup on their wines in the market are very high, so caveat emptor.

Sunday evenings are 3 course dinners with Jidori fried chicken as the main. This time the chicken seemed overly breaded and it took forever to receive the main course. The beginning salad was very good, and the vegetable and polenta mix were also very tasty. There was a choice of 2 desserts, both of which were good. The restaurant during the week is preferable for us rather than the Sunday fried chicken menu.

i'd been dreaming about their french toast for weeks. went for sunday brunch. food itself was at best disappointing. the brioche cut was very thick (good) but dry, burnt around the edges (so charred that i cut it off to eat the middle, and i LIKE crispy/burnt edges). the strawberries were sad and tasteless compared to the blueberries they used to serve. overall the french toast itself was BORING and BLAND. the only saving grace on the plate were the 3 strips of bacon. not worth $14. bacon cheddar scone was delicious but it pales in comparison to the bacon cheddar BISCUITS at Manhattan Beach Post. Server was impolite and spoke to us in a strange snide tone. won't be returning. maybe to the attached store, awesome just like mill valley

  • One of the best meals I've ever had

I've been to 4 continents in search of the best cuisine and this restaurant is absolutely one of the best. The coup d'etat was the charcuterie board featuring a beautiful piece of back fat which might have just been the single greatest bite I've ever had. The oysters, ahi crudo, and crab salad were also notable. One distinguishing feature here was the staff's knowledge of food and wine. I ordered 6 appetizers and asked my server to bring them out slowly. He said he'd bring them out "in an order that makes sense" and did just that, moving from lighter flavors all the way to the charcuterie board. He was also able to pair two distinct glasses of wine with the overall meal. I'll absolutely be adding this to my short list of LA eateries.

The open air feeling really sets Farmshop apart. They really nail that rustic farm feel but in a very upscale way. Food here is always delicious and perfectly made, even when doing delicate techniques. They use only the freshest organic ingredients and those shine through in a big way. I come here for brunch a lot. Not a big fan of the best-seller brioche french toast for my own tastes, but I love all their egg dishes, in particular the coddled eggs with mushrooms. The service is very nurturing and the coffee is wonderful. It's always fun to stroll the FS market after you eat, too, as well as enjoy the rest of the Brentwood country mart.

Very professional and polite hostess, dealt with 2 of them. Service was quick, waitress and busboys attentive and professional. I had the egg salad, I felt it was very pricey for the quantity I received. A very small bowl of egg salad with fresh herbs and oil, too much oil, and too much salt. Some beats, a very smal amount, and a very little green salad on the side w/ 2 slices of brioche toast, presentation was nice but not user friendly and way too much $$ for what I got.

The name Farmshop concerned my mother; I think she feared there would be tractor parts and feed bags all around. But, the moment we walked in to the sparkling dining room/wine shop/cheese shop, all fears vanished. I treated myself to the French toast made with thick slices of brioche and topped with fruit, candied walnuts, and cream sauce; and she got the poached chicken salad with lots of veggies. Both delicious. But, with just our two entrees, two coffees, and tip, the total came to close to $50.

This is our third time at this Napa-Like restaurant. Two there times were good but this time was a disaster. I think they lost their chef. My wife's steak was not good and my entrée (scallops) came very late and I did not eat it. They took it off the bill. My dining companions said they were fighting in the kitchen and the food seemed to suffer. Lots of apologies from the manager but for a high class Brentwood eatery, this will not do.

The service was really good even though our server seemed like he was training. It was easy to get AND change our reservation and we were seated right away. The atmosphere and decor is great even though there is a lot of foot traffic with parties being sat and the market. The food was great, especially the sticky bun. Really good coffee, too. Will definitely go back for brunch and would love to try the dinner menu.

Server was great, explained the menu well and happy to see the meal exceeded expectations. She also made very good wine suggestion, which I appreciated. The food was amazing and fresh. Coming back from a meeting where the food lest something to be desired, we decided to see if Farmshop had a spot on Open Table and much to our delight it did. The restaurant did not disappoint as everything was perfect. Munack Farm heirloom tomato salad with nectarines was amazing, so was Hamachi appetizer and our split Jidori chicken with smashed charred corn. Great wines by the glass and Farmshop lived up to its rep as one of our favorite places in advance or on spur of the moment.

The food was first rate. The salad with tomatoes was unusual and scrumptious, the chicken juicy yet crisp, the steak done perfectly. The wines by the glass were below standard, but half bottles were fine. The meringue dessert looked great but was not as chocolaty as I prefer. The service was not up to the food; a long wait to ask about drinks, a long wait to ask for the order, and when we noted that we had not decided yet but would in two minutes, a ten minute gap again. The waiter, though not hostile or even curt, seemed, at times, to be doing us a favor. I shall go back, but similar service a second time will be the last.

Our experience at Farmshop could not have been better! From the gracious hostess to the fun, fabulous and sophisticated waiter and incredible food! The food was one of the best we have had. The tastes and combinations of spices were different than most other restaurants we have been. We had tomato salad to start with purse-lane (grown wild in California), shaved fried artichoke, sumac, a soft cheese with Avocado and olive oil... was simply delicious! For our main dish was New York steak with mash like potatoes, slightly crispy on the outside and mushrooms. The sauce on the steak was light, but very tasty at the same time. For dessert, butterscotch brownie with vanilla bean ice cream, it was decedent and divine! So incredibly delicious!
