Diner Reviews
  • "Loved all the options, vegetarian, vegan and regular menu. Delicious breads and just all around a good meal. Very fresh. Burger, potato soup , hummus/avocado sandwich- all delicious "

  • "Farmacia changes its menu somewhat with the seasons. On a recent visit, they had a gnocchi with wild mushrooms and rhubarb sorbet. Both were incredibly good. Gnocchi definitely the "best anywhere anytime" and the sorbet an unusual and absolutely fabulous taste experience. Farmacia makes its own sorbet and always has several flavors--mango and black cherry have been very memorable in the past, but rhubarb was an unexpected delight. Happy Hour during the week is a plus, as is the bread from Metropolitan Bakery, and the variety of seating configurations."

  • "My wife and I have eaten at FARMiCiA a number of times. Every time we were very happy with the food. The menu is largely organic, much of it local, and there is often an interesting twist. The combinations of herbs and spices or the interplay of entree with interesting vegetables are always intriguing. The portion sizes are perfect: satisfying but not stuffing. The service is consistently good. The menu does change with the season, and sometimes that means a favorite dish (in my case the apple cheddar salad) may not be available. I've always been able to find a satisfying alternative, however. My limited sampling of desserts has been just as satisfying. The gluten-free, chocolate walnut brownie is delightfully light and a bargain."

  • "The food was good and the half priced drinks actually had liquor in them. The crab omelet was delicious. This is a fun place."

  • "We went to dinner here, very nice spot. Nothing mind blowing, but a fair value. I'd prefer a little more for their price point, but overall, very fair."

  • "We don't get into the city too often so I decided to spend some time searching on-line for a new restaurant that had a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees, a casual atmosphere, and was close to available parking. Farmicia was one of the few choices I found so we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The fact that it was a BYOB yet also had a bar was unique and big plus. We were there on a Saturday evening, our waiter was very attentive, portions were not huge (a good thing!), and we were all very satisfied with our meals. We shared a flourless chocolate tart for desert and it was a perfect way to top off a good meal. Bottom line, I would not hesitate to go back again."

  • "I wish that we had left the restaurant after having to deal with extremely impolite and angry service, largely from the manager (in fact the man serving our table was consistently friendly, so this is not in regards to his work). Our entire group was left with a terrible memory of this restaurant."

  • "Had a great time dining at this restaurant. It's byob but they also have a bar, so it's nice to have the option of bringing your own wine or getting drinks there. The server was fantastic. He was well versed on the menu and gave good suggestions on what to order. The food came out in a timely fashion and was very good. I recommend the lamb or duck. Will definitely dine here again."

  • "We love coming on a Friday night. The fresh bread is amazing and I would recommend the cheese plate! This past visit, it took a trip. To hostess to let them know that a waitress never came to our table after sitting there for 15 minutes. The staff was very apologetic and our first round of drinks were on the house. We appreciated their gesture and enjoyed our dinner even more! Will come back again!!,"

  • "This is a neighborhood restaurant for us. Always nice to come back here especially on a quiet weeknight. Food was good, but the happy hour cocktails were outstanding. Worth going just for the incredible numbers of specialty cocktails."

  • "Just recently found this place several months ago and it's been a wonderful experience. Have walked by it several times and never really looked at the menu. Food is phenomenal."

  • "Food was somewhat bland and service was not terribly attentive. Nothing was outstanding."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "Beet salad was jarred beets and the feta too salty. Goat cheese would be a better alternative. Tuna entree was oily, pork chop was smothered in a nondescript tasteless gravy. Looked forward to the striped bass entree special but they were sold out by 8PM. Will not be going back."

  • "I have been to Farmacia on multiple occasions for Brunch and always enjoyed it. This time it was dinner. The drinks are outstanding, but the dinner fare was so-so, would not go back for dinner. Service was poor."

  • "Cute and classy, up-scale dining experience. The food was very good, although my friend's mahi-mahi was overcooked and a bit dry. Service was prompt and accommodating but not very smiley."

  • "I LOVE this restaurant. I have many food issues (gluten intolerant, no soy, no corn, no yeast, no additives) and it's anxiety inducing when I go out to eat. I chose to meet a friend here for lunch because the menu looked so good and there were a couple of things I could see that I could eat and I could trust that the ingredients were healthy and of good quality. I got the 2 egg omelet with herbs and goat cheese and substituted the garden salad for roasted potatoes. So yummy! My friend got a sandwich with tuna salad. She also loved it. The ambiance is hip and the decor is simple and clean. I have already recommended it to a bunch of people. Our waiter was knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend."

  • "Went here after work this week. I had the butternut squash risotto croquettes. The dish was fantastic - I would definitely order it again!"
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "We have often had dinner at FARMiCiA, but this was our first brunch. Glad we reserved, because the place was nearly full. Omelettes were well received, & I enjoyed a FARMiCiA staple: the French lentil salad - listed under "Starters," but huge & easily a main course, & the best salad in Phildaelphia. And weekends include Happy Hour (11:00 - 2:00) with half-price drinks."

  • "Salad starters were well above average. Main dishes were just average. My vegetarian egg plant cannelloni was only luke warm. The side of kale seemed like it was fropen and not fresh. The side of mushrooms were way too salty."

  • "We were seated in the back - initially we hoped it would be a good thing - unfortunately the noise was outrageous. Food was good, portions generous. Service just adequate. Had to wave our server down to get water, bread and check. Not in a hurry to return."

  • "Fresh and perfectly cooked tuna on a wonderful salad with a great $5 Bloody Mary. What more can I say?"

  • "My friends and I have eaten at Farmicia often before we go to the Arden Theatre and most often have had very good food and wonderful service. This last time we dined at Farmicia on 3/14, the food was still good, not great, but I have to say that the service was poor. The restaurant wasn't yet that busy so it wasn't that. The only thing I can point to was our wait-person was training a new person. We waited at least 10 minutes, maybe more, before we had to call someone over to even take our order for drinks and it went downhill from there. Very disappointing from all our previous dinners at what was a fine restaurant with great service."

  • "The place is adorable, the food is yummy and the service is fantastic. My dad said his omlette was the best he ever had!"

  • "Had a great brunch experience here...we tend to stay away from the touristy areas but Farmicia looked so appealing we had to give it a try. We will definitely be back! Great alternative to Sabrina's for a relaxing brunch with friends. The Bloody Mary was perfectly spiced and the Pomtini a winner! We opted for omelets and the lentil salad...food was great and reasonably priced. Service was prompt and friendly."

  • "We like Farmacia, although every once-in-a-while it seems to have an off night. This Friday dinner was excellent. They were quite busy and managed to provide good service and excellent food. Good for all eaters--from vegans to steak lovers. Happy hour from 5-7 is great. The bread (from Metropolitan Bakery) is the best in the city and they always offer 3-4 varieties to choose from."

  • "I've been to Farmicia at least a dozen times. I appreciate the food, as there are many vegetarian choices. I also really like the look of the interior. It's a cozy, neighborhood place. However, the service is awful from the time I step in the door. The hostess/host are not welcoming. This last time we were seated at a table right near the door and assured that it was not drafty or cold. It was 25 degrees outside and we sat with jackets on our legs. Each time someone opened the door, it would get stuck open and the hostess wouldn't do a thing about it. She was too busy talking with the host or servers. Our server was incredibly slow. It took a full 15 minutes to order a drink and then another 15 to actually get them. Will not return."

  • "You do need to be prepared to wait around a bit for service sometimes. So get a large drink and chill out - it's worth the wait. It's a nice spot and the food is always good stuff. I've been going for seven years and the service has always been 'Mediterranean'"

  • "This place is fantastic. Food and service were great. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun, lively BYOB on a Friday or Saturday! They were even able to accommodate us despite the fact that we added a person last minute to our reservation on a packed night!"

  • "It is an adorable restaurant with great ambiance. The food selections are so good and the half price drinks are a nice touch, too. It is one of the best brunch spots in Philly"

  • "Had the mushroom lentil soup and porkchop. My girlfriend had the skirt steak. Food was bland and over priced. We were there for brunch in the past and the brunch was delicious. Recommend for a good brunch spot."

  • "I have never had anything but a good experience at Farmicia and Friday was another good meal. The service was excellent, never more appreciated when a salt shaker broke and dumped a ton of salt on a burger. The waitperson whipped it away and it was replaced within a few minutes. My cheese and ham sandwich came with a celery and apple salad that was as good as the sandwich--I ate every scrap. Nice day."

  • "I would rate the food a solid B - well-conceived but average execution. Given the above average ambiance and the terrific location, I plan on trying FARMACIA again. The flourless chocolate cake was a standout."

  • "A casual but delicious brunch on a beautiful Sunday. No snow this weekend. The organic eggs were very fresh and very eye appealing. The service was excellent. Don't miss the drinks."

  • "We try to get to Farmicia for brunch every time we're in Philly. The place is usually busy, but even without a reservation, we've been seated promptly. The staff is excellent. The food is to die for and we've probably ordered everything on the menu. This is a gem!!"

  • "Very good food, server was very pleasant and efficient."

  • "We like Farmacia a lot. We like the atmosphere, fabulous bread, decent wine selection (especially during happy hour) and variety and quality of food. (The beer list seems a bit tired.) When Farmacia is at its best, it is wonderful. However, our most recent trip was mediocre. Had to ask for bread and the food was a bit blah. Lentil salad tasted a bit off. The waitstaff didn't have great timing--either zoomed in or was AWOL. Not bad--just not the top level of taste and presentation we've come to love. I wish they could be just a bit more consistent so I could feel confident bringing friends."

  • "This is my second time at Farmicia. The first was for dinner. We sat at the bar and had great service and great food! It was a fun atmosphere and the bartenders were great! This time, we had brunch. It was the perfect place! We really enjoyed it. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to my friends."

  • "I absolutely love the food and atmosphere here. It's fun just being in the restaurant because everything is so cool looking, and then when you take your first bite you're in heaven! The menu is really interesting and the specials are really good. Great drinks too. I've been here for brunch twice now, and I will keep coming back whenever I can!"
