Diner Reviews
  • "Former chef at White Dog adds his own touch to locally sourced fare. Excellent presentation, appetizer, entree and dessert were all superb. Very good service and great informal atmosphere. Wine list was adequate to find something decent at a reasonable price to pair with food."

  • "We visited Philly this past weekend and wanted to try the restaurant we'd heard so much about. Fortunately and unknowingly, it was Old City Restaurant Week and we were able to take advantage of that. The food, service, ambience and selections were just outstanding. We fell in love with the Asian Pear and Crabmeat salad; and the Pork Tenderloin and Ribeye were awesome. What a wonderful find- and thanks to Open Table for making it so easy!"

  • "Quick trip to Philly, my son the foody picked this place for: reasonable price, farm to table, olde city, plenty of vegetarian options. Food was great. Farm-to-table wasn't a focus (sourcing farms weren't listed on menu/on chalk board anywhere) (note: this in no way detracted from a great restaurant!) price was reasonable, great ambience. We had a table in the front--great people watching on 3rd st!"

  • "My friends and I were for my birthday, which was incidentally during Old City Restaurant Week. The food was all AMAZING - especially the pork with the orange sauce and sweet potatoes and the strawberry crisp. Servers were VERY attentive and made sure you always had everything. Would definitely recommend for a nice out!"

  • "I enjoyed a delicious pineapple upside down martini while waiting for my friend at the bar. When she arrived we were seated immediately. The server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They had many vegetarian options, and we brought our own wine. All of our food was excellent, and the brownie with cream cheese ice cream was divine!"

  • "I enjoyed Old City Restaurant week. The crab cakes are amazing!!! The Grace Kelly has as much style that she had back in the day. Cool and refreshing!"

  • "Food was good but service was lacking. Took too long for first drinks to arrive because appetizer arrived a minute later then breezed thru dinner w/ no drinks cause waitress never came back after food was dropped to see how meal was or if we needed a drink. However she was quick to collect the bill. Overall the food was awesome but the service was less than desirable considering the price tag."

  • "It is such a cute restaurant, the food was delicious. I ordered the duck and it melts in your mouth, dessert was out of this world, the flourless chocolate cake was moist and smooth, not too sweet. One of the best meal that I had in the Old City area. Our server was courteous and friendly, great service!"

  • "Presentation was not great. Dressing on the lentil salad was blah. Potatoes and green beans were mediocre. Entree tuna was delicious and perfectly done."

  • "Brunch with girlfriends was awesome at Farmacia! Got sat quickly at a table by the open window. Service was prompt and friendly. Happy hour drink prices, good Bloody Mary, and food was out to us before we could count to 200! ;) Love me some grits!!! Lots of vegetarian options, too."

  • "We had a very pleasant time for an early dinner on Friday. The menu offers such interesting dishes. I ordered the stuffed squash flowers and was very pleased. The enchiladas and tamales were wonderful. The drinks and tonics were interesting and half price because of happy hour rules! My friend liked the champagne drink. The server was cordial and attentive. I will try the lunch menu next time I go. Enjoy!"

  • "It was the perfect place for lunch during the work day. The food was absolutely delicious and I will definitely be coming back!"

  • "The food was unevenly good. I had a chicken dish which I liked a lot. My husband had the salmon which had been cooked to death and could have been anyfishUSA. The desserts were very pleasant and the service was just excellent. It was quiet enough - even when full- that I could enjoy talking to my husband, and we are around 70 years old. So that is a rarity in Philadelphia. There are a few really good things, wish I could remember from the last time we were there, perhaps last fall, but I have the feeling this COULD become a really good restaurant."

  • "We come in from Bucks Co. OFTEN for brunch at FARMiCiA and always have a good experience. The menu is both fun and satisfying. Service is always good. It is one of Old City's BEST restaurants!"

  • "While the food is great the wine list could be much better. The service is kind of hit and miss. Sometimes it's great, at this visit it certainly wasn't."

  • "Met old friends for a dinner, 7 guests. Called many times to change reservation, they were always accommodating. Dinner was fresh and very good. We ordered an array of great items!! Gnocchi was the only disappointment. We took our time ordering and were a bit preoccupied with each other, with all that, service was perfect! Thanks Farmicia!!! PS great happy hour.. I had a 5.00 interesting martini!"

  • "Great, but not outstanding, flavor combinations. The roving bread tray is an excellent and welcome idea. Very friendly and attentive staff, and a wonderful place to have a conversation with your friends."

  • "Very enjoyable. Service good and not overbearing. Like that they have a bread server so bread is not wasted. Portions good for me but I don't know about a big hungry guy."

  • "The food was great. All the dishes were well-prepared and nicely presented. Loved the beet soup! The waitress was helpful with the wine selection."

  • "Before going to the Arden we had dinner at Farmicia. To begin with, street parking was no problem. Once inside the restaurant, the wait staff was friendly and "knew their stuff". A suggestion was made to try the minted pea vegan croquette. It was delicious. We will definitely go back to this neighborhood gem."

  • "the restaurant was ok, did not have a window so the seating was not as comfortable."

  • "Farmicia has a menu to please everyone. I had the eggplant parmesan and it tasted great. The portions leave you just enough room for one of their sumptuous desserts, including creme Brule and cream cheese ice cream. The trio of cheeses is a must-try. All in all a very pleasant experience for a special occasion."

  • "The sever was super friendly and really sweet. The food was awesome, the portions were great! A lot of times at moderately priced resturants they are scant with the food, not here! Loved the veggie/grain entree it was huge!!"

  • "Wonderful lamb tenderloins - best I've ever had, and the blueberry sorbet was so full of flavor you thought you were eating frozen blueberries! Server was knowledgeable and willing to advise on menu items - she was right on point. Timing was perfect for pre-theater at the Arden. Will return to try again."

  • "Thanks to Google maps, I found this place by accident. It was a great place for lunch. The menu was quite varied and had several options for those on dietary restrictions (not me). The food was very tasty, well displayed with large portions. They had some unusual combinations. I wanted to try almost every appetizer on the menu, but couldn't, so I will be back. Definitely worth a stop if you can find parking. The construction crews tearing the building down across the street made the window table less than desirable. The service started out as really attentive, but significantly tapered off after the entrees were served. It took over 10 minutes to get the bill when we were ready to leave. They were setting up for dinner, but still..."

  • "I have been here three times and I have never been disappointed with the staff--very friendly and accomodating (no attitude when I asked to move seats because of the vent). Rachel the Asian waitress was very sweet and professional--and prompt without being excessively attentive. Tamales were dry...but everything else was great. I have tried the crab cakes (some of the best), steak and fish--all great. "

  • "I love Farmicia and they never disappoint when it comes to food. The cocktails were great too and only $5 during brunch on sat and sun. "

  • "I got the grilled tuna salad and the "sushi grade" piece of tuna I was given was awful. You could not cut through it and it was rubbery. The waitress did not come by until the end of the meal for me to tell her, so I left hungry. They did apologize and offer to take it off the check. I had the same salad once before and it was fine. Quite disappointing. I don't think I'll go back due to lack of consistency."

  • "Our waitress (Kacy) was wonderful, sweet and most of all, gave us excellent service. Our food was just perfect for a light lunch, we were pre-celebrating my son's graduation from law school and had a very pleasant experience. "
