We had the Farm Egg Scramble (with amazingly fresh eggs and fantastic savory sausage patties) and the seasonal veg (kale and wild mushrooms - yum!). They have a nice little outdoor area which I wish we could have used had it been a little warmer. We're gluten-free and there were several good options for us. Great coffee, too! We came from Indiana for the day. I'd visit again if I was in the area and would go there alot more if I lived in the neighborhood. Their homemade ginger ale is delicious. We had the cheese curds since all the reviews recommend them. They were a little greasy, but VERY tasty. The homemade catsup is excellent. I have short ribs that were great and hubby had a tasty burger. The decor is all created from salvaged materials which makes it pretty cool!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Hamburger EverOur favorite lunch stop whenever we're in Chicago for the energetic, relaxed atmosphere, convenient location (across from Brown line & short walk from Red) & great food. Burger, options like fried egg, bacon, several cheeses & more is excellent & the special sauce for the Patty Melt - sublime. Our most recent visit, we especially appreciated bartender's eagerness to mix something refreshing for a warm, but overcast, spring day. If you like chocolate pudding and red velvet cake, don't miss Baked Wisconsin for dessert!
One silly flaw in our last visit was the attitude of the hostess. We had our own personal table upstairs, which was good. I didn't realize that was an option so it is nice if you need to catch up over dinner. The restaurant was hopping and got busier as the night progressed (and louder). Our server was excellent. Loved the fried cheese curds and the pork shoulder dish was terrific - very tender. The beet salad could have used a lighter touch on the dressing. Chopped salad had a better dressing to salad ratio. Since I am a vegan I ordered the quinoa burger and was not disappointed! It was very flavorful and filling. There were several large groups around us, so it was very loud and we could barely hear our server, but it was a friday night and we enjoyed the upbeat mood in the restaurant.
