Diner Reviews
  • " The Loudness was first noted when we entered. The music was loud, and everyone seemed to be talking over it. But the employees and the regulars must be accustomed to it, because everyone seemed relaxed and having a good time. Our server was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. She was quite busy but so pleasant when she checked on us that I can't complain. Food: Pina Colada Day brought an average drink. "Drag through the Garden" was a wealth of crunch; needed more dressing but did not get the chance to ask for it before my next course arrived. Enjoyed the Lemonade Fried Whitefish with the side of fries; tarter sauce was just average. Dessert of Butternut Cake & butter pecan ice cream was excellent."

  • "Very loud. Food was okay. On the plus side, the beer selection was A+"

  • "We took a group if coworkers for an early pre-cruise dinner, and it was great! As the Thursday evening went on, it got much louder and harder to have conversations across the table. The service was a great balance of attentive, but not overwhelming. The group's overall review of the food was that it was great. I had the veg meatloaf, and while it was a bit dry from waiting on the other dozen meals to be ready, it was delicious! The bathrooms are a must-see, but I heard the tools in the men's room were a bit traumatizing."

  • "Felt like I was eating in a cafeteria, as plates of food arrived all at once (appetizers and main) by rushed wait staff. So-so food in very very loud atmosphere."

  • "I loved everything we had! The cioppino was great! The pretzel appetizer is a must. The inside is very lovely. We had the unfortunate luck of getting a waiter that's a bit socially awkward and was trying to hit on the table next to us, so service was not the best. They could use a manager sweeping the floor to make sure service is going well. And the place is quite loud - really popular and the acoustics made it hard to hear. But the food was absolutely worth it - I'll be going back."

  • "Enjoyed a good meal here with friends from out of town Flavorful food but nothing spectacular Was expecting greatness like Founding Farmers in The District Would've preferred our table of 6 to be seated elsewhere Placed 2 tables of 2 on either side of us and those customers were annoyed - I would've been too! I understand trying to seat as many as possible, but, everyone deserves an enjoyable dining atmosphere (especially for the prices!) no matter if you are a party of 2 or party of 6! With so many options in the Georgetown area, won't be making a return visit"

  • "Had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Server seemed uninterested in her job and went through the service like a zombie. Price does not reflect the service or food received."

  • "Good food, beer, and very welcoming to our children. We would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Georgetown."

  • "Great tacos. Guacamole needs some jalapenos or spice. There wasn't any spice in it. Fried chicken was too sweet for some reason?? Tasted like they put some sugar on the breading. Overall, food was good but prob need to change the fried chicken."

  • "The food was amazing!! Everyone at the table ate entirely too much, but it was fun to try different things."

  • "We went here for an early dinner on Sunday night, and did not walk away disappointed. The fact that our only reservation options were 6:45 and 9:00 PM speak volumes for how popular this place is. The pretzel bread was fantastic, and the house-made guacamole was even better. We will definitely be returning"

  • "We had a terrible experience with this place, even though it came highly recommended by a local. We made a reservation for 2:15 pm on a Sunday, not realizing that their buffet brunch ends at 2 pm. The male host is extremely rude; we had to wait 10 minutes because there was no one available to bus two empty tables. Finally, we get sat by a woman who knew nothing about the menu and had to run off after every question to check, until our waiter showed up, 15 min later. Food was nothing special and key items had been changed on the menu. For a much better experience and amazing food, I highly recommend you check out Founding Farmers, which is likely owned by the same company as this place, but the two restaurants are like night and day."

  • "The food and service was great and the only problem it made me too much food. Had to take a long walk after the meal to burn some of the calories off. Will go back when I return to Washington DC, just will try to not eat as much."

  • "Love, loved it. Good, not great, for vegetarians but I definitely did not leave hungry. Really fun, really delicious, all around terrific."

  • "Table for 7 including kids at 5pm on Sunday. Great private table with friendly staff. Horrible steak frite. We could not chew the too thick, poor cut of meat despite medium rare. Limp fries. Fish and chips just as bad and bland. Mediocre plane original pizza. Guacamole at table side lacked any flare and too salty. Sword fish was over cooked. All decided to skip dessert."

  • "Menu is great and food was also very good, but service was god-awful. Perhaps it was just a bad day or they were understaffed, but the Server was very inattentive. Kept disappearing for long stretches and then I would see him all the way outdoors working a table. Ask for something and 10 minutes later we would have to flag him down and remind him again. Food, drinks, everything dreadfully slow. In all honesty I have to say some of the worst service I've ever had at what seems to be a very good restaurant. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was perhaps just an off day. I still have to recommend you try it, food was great."

  • "I absolutely loved the laid back atmosphere of this place, the food was colorful, tasty and fresh! The service was great, I never had to want for anything, the waitress was always there! I also love thow the waiters come around with dishes to serve you; fried shrimp, sushi, homemade biscuits, cinnamon rolls and pizza! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!"

  • "Recently dined outdoors for brunch at Farmers Fishers Bakers (FFB), it was fabulous - energetic vibe - extensive & thoughtfully prepared food selection - Highly recommend for groups to make a reservation outside to take in all the ambiance the area has to offer. It is so worth it to slightly come off the beaten path in Georgetown and venture towards the water. You won't be disappointed ! Everything our table had was delicious (Black & purple kale salad, bananas foster, cinnamon buns, guac, eggs benedict)"

  • "The service was fantastic with our server explaining everything and making great recommendations. He was attentive without hovering. The food was beautiful - fresh and delicious! The World Cup was going on so the bar area was a bit lively but it didn't take away from having an enjoyable family dinner. I would certainly come back, and am interested I trying their brunch."

  • "I had a great brunch with a group of four here over the Fourth of July weekend. The food wasn't spectacular but there was plenty to try, & plenty to choose from - you definitely got your money's worth. It was also just a fun place to go on the Georgetown waterfront. Beware if you want to sit outside - the waiting list for that luxury is over an hour at brunch time!"

  • "Their brunch is one of the best brunches I've been to in DC. Definitely a good value for $30. I would have liked drinks to be included in the brunch price but its still worth it."

  • "The place was great but the noise level was so extreme there is NO WAY I can ever eat there again."

  • "The brunch buffet was fantastic. Everything was fresh and tasty. The buffets were kept clean and well stocked. The fresh guac was so good I could have eaten just that and been happy. I gave Farmers Fishers Bakers only 4 stars because they offer a few items by roaming waiters with platters of sushi, eggs benedict, artisan pizza, and other items. We say 2 of these roaming waiters and they seemed to have only a handful of items on their trays and selectively stopped at tables. We had to flag a waitress down and ask to have the sushi waiter stop at our table. If they are going to offer this service, every table should have a reasonable opportunity to receive the items. They also give cinnamon rolls but only brought 3 for our table of 6."

  • "Loved the homemade hibiscus soda. Great coffee. Sushi was good, too. Had some confusion with service, but the manager was very gracious and comped my husband's drink. The waterfront is a beautiful area to walk around after. We arrived a little too late for weekend brunch, but it looked delicious, so we'll definitely return for that."

  • "Same fun vibe as Founding Farmers with added bonus of being part of Georgetown waterfront scene for post-dinner stroll. Daily catch swordfish was wonderful. White fish tacos and brussel sprout salad with chicken also yummy. Cocktails are given good attention here, with juices fresh squeezed, and our friends really enjoyed sharing the festive "bowls," with fun themed glasses and crazy-long straws. Kava Bowl beat Zombie in our taste test. Our visit was on July Fourth weekend Saturday and with a same-day reservation we were seated promptly. Server was attentive and helpful in making recommendations. Decor is modern and fun, and scene was relaxed and lively without being too loud."

  • "I have taken various friends and family there multiple times and they always have phenomenal food and wonderful service. The staff is willing to bend over backwards for whatever we need, from seating arrangements to extra biscuits and cinnamon rolls (so decadent!). The chefs manning the food tables are charming and helpful. The brunch buffet is fresh and full of variety. I look forward to many more visits!"

  • "This restaurant came highly recommended. My husband and I chose the sea food platter and my son had pizza. The fries were cold and the fish was too salty. My son's pizza was not good and he said the lemonade was too sweet. This was not a good experience and the food is also over price."

  • "We ate here because of proximity to cruise ship. Appealing menu with wide variety, but pretty much everything we sampled except the focaccia bread was not remotely good. Would not rush back here."

  • "I had a brunch with my friend in the restaurant in 4th of July and it was nice experience. Food was great and versatile. A punch divided for four was good as well. It was nice to sit outside and it wasn't too noisy so we could chat in the table. Its location is great!"

  • "Great Sushi and very pleasant to look at. Service is fast and supportive but not constantly in your face allowing one to enjoy their person space and have the waiter support their needs."

  • "Farmers Fishers Bakers was great! I went with my parents for my birthday dinner and every single thing we order was so good! The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone. The service was efficient, quick and every person we encounter was extremely friendly and courteous. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to just about anyone! To top it off it's located at the Georgetown waterfront which has a great view and night life in the summer but just as great in the winter because the fountain turns into an ice skating rink :) the only downfall I would say is that it was a bit loud. I don't know if it was the acoustics in the room or that is was busy, but my Dad is getting older and it was hard for him to hear me there."

  • "This is the second visit where the food has been just average. Usually I love whatever I get here, but this time not so much. The Virginia Cracker Calamari was dreadful -- it was so dry and overdone, as if the squid had been in a dehydrater. They brought us a second order (even though we didn't ask for it) and this one was not overcooked but just as bland. Easily the worst calamari I've ever had. The Shrimp Louie was okay, a decent amount of shrimp, but hardly any guacamole....all on a mountain of shredded lettuce. I will go back again, in hopes the food gets better (as good as it's usually been)."

  • "We had visited this restaurant for Sunday brunch and were impressed so we decided to try it for dinner with a few friends. We started with drinks, my friend ordered a beer cocktail that tasted SO bad we had to return it and ask for something else. The server was very apologetic however and brought out something else. We then ordered a shrimp appetizer but it was very overcooked and tasted rubbery. Our main meal was okay but nothing to write home about so I will not be trying the restaurant for lunch / dinner again. On a last note, I had made a reservation and requested outdoor seating but when we arrived however, we were told that to sit outside we would have an hour and 15 minute wait........very disappointing."
