FARMbloomingtonDinner great but Salad unimpressiveMost everything we ordered was first rate. But we had also ordered a $19 salad-with-chicken that contained little specialized lettuce (like spinach, arugula, red lettuce, etc.), and nothing extra like olives, artichoke hearts, banana peppers, grated cheese, or even pepper. The dressing was not tossed evenly. The salad was three times as expensive as the caesar salad at Noodles down the street...and only one-third as good. The three or four chicken slices that adorned the top of the salad were indeed delicious!
The main course, drinks from the bar, and sides were exceptional. We described our disappointment and were later rewarded with a dessert and a subtraction from the bill. These were very nice concessions. The food is hearty and much different than a typical trendy spot. The server also brought out samples of 2 non menu items, and the cocktail list is just as exciting as the food menu. Our server dealt with a couple of special requests with grace and charm. The kitchen even surprised us with a wonderful twist on our dessert! However, few times I find it more or less like food I can cook home, which makes me think about the prices and some of the foodie pretense of embellished menus. Some very simple foods might seem a bit pricy.
We will still go to farm, but for the most part stick to our usuals.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExtraordinary!While Farm can be pricey, it is completely worth it for multiple reasons. The food is the best I've ever had. I had the crab-stuffed rainbow trout and was able to save half for the next day. The presentation was great as well. This was my first time here and I would recommend it for any foodie. I shared the french fries appetizer with 2 friends - those fries were amazing as well. I will always keep Farm in mind for people visiting me and also believe it is a great "date-night" venue. I look forward to going for brunch for the first time as well.
