I had heard great things about the Farm and was excited to go with my college age son on a recent visit to IU. Our expectations were high, and we were not disappointed! We went for brunch. The food was delicious and just enough different from other places around. The servings were generous enough for my son, but not wasteful! Get the biscuits! Ours were warm and yummy!!

I've had exceptional meals at FarmBloomington - but this wasn't one of them. Food was good, but not as spirited and exceptional as on past visits. During my last visit, Chef Orr was on the premises and everything was fabulous - really an exciting and innovative meal. This was good, but paled in comparison to our past visit - even the garlic fries were not as good as the last time around.

We have been here many times over the years. I feel that the service from the waitstaff has gone downhill in the last year or so. To be fair, they do seem to have constant turnover in staff, perhaps due to this being a college town. On this particular day, we went to brunch for my husband's birthday. The offerings were great and for the most part our meal was good. I would strongly steer clear of the espresso drinks. I am a cappuccino girl and while the foam was great, the "espresso" tasted like burned drip coffee. Even though I mentioned it was a birthday, no special dessert or treat offered - as has been the standard in the past. Our waiter disappeared and no refills on coffee given. Somewhat disappointing... Especially on a special day.

The restaurant is beautiful and has a fun energy to it. I met 2 friends out and we all found the food to be way too salty. Not sure why they would be so heavy on the salt, but it dominated all flavors. The food was ok. Our server was really friendly, but after ordering a bottle of white wine, she never returned to let us know that the bottle was not chilled and we waited for awhile, not knowing where our drinks were. We thought she could have offered us another choice, or a glass of another wine while we waited.
We tried to order dessert, but our two choices were sold out or not available for some reason, so we passed.

Our experience wasn't as good as we expected. The restaurant came highly recommended and left sort of disappointed. Our server wasn't attentive enough. I had to go to the counter and ask for a fork, more hot water for tea, and more napkins. The girl at the counter helped me with the first two things and when I asked for the third she asked where our server was. It seemed strange because most servers have a section of tables next to each other. Our server seemed to be waiting on tables clear across the room so he was out of reach most of the time.

While visiting my daughter this past weekend I FINALLY got to go to FARMbloomington. It has all the charm of a college town restaurant without the grunge factor. We were there for breakfast and I am a scrambled egg snob, so I was delighted to find that my eggs were softly scrambled, no brown dried blech. The potatoes were wonderfully seasoned too. My only complaint, and this goes for another establishment in Bloomington as well, is the size of the tea 'pot'. I have never seen such a small metal vessel. I asked for a refill of hot water and that wasn't a problem, but sheesh, I could've used two more in the time we were there. My daughter and I need to be gluten free and the waitress was up to speed on that, which was very nice.
