A word from FARM at The Carneros Inn
FARM, at The Carneros Inn is a restaurant dedicated to food that accompanies wine. We believe in well-balanced, comforting, full-flavored dishes that are simple in concept but complex in taste, emphasizing the natural flavors of the ingredients. We craft our own breads, pastries and Artisan Charcuterie products using our passion for experimentation, and respect of tradition. Our inspiration comes from access to the finest organic and sustainably raised ingredients that we source primarily within a 150 mile radius of Carneros, to harvest food that is at the peak of its season and flavor. The food we prepare supports and nurtures ourselves, our guests, and our land.

Our dress code is business casual. For men, please adhere to no hats, shorts, or sandals in the dining room. Jackets are not required.

I do feel that while the wine list was long, it was difficult to decide how to choose the wine as it all seemed same same. A suggestion of wine pairings with each a la carte option would have been perfect to hone in on the style and flavors presented."

  • "This restaurant is very romantic. The ambiance is great and they have booths made for two people. They are very good at making special events extra special. We had the tasting menu which was amazing. It was almost too much good food. It was a 7 course menu and you could opt for the wine pairing. The one wine pairing we tried was awesome. I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fun and/or romantic spot."

  • "This is a great alternative, as it's located between Napa & Sonoma. The decor is understated elegance. The waitstaff is focused and know their product. Some stand out dishes for us are the Roasted Baby Beets with Bosc Pear, Pecans, Bermuda Triangle Cheese, Young Greens with a Sherry Vinaigrette ($15) The Liberty Farms Duck Breast with Garden Brassica, Cashew Pudding, Sweet & Sour Mandarin and Black Garlic ($34) The Superior Farm Lamb with Green Garlic, Toasted Farro, Carrot Condimento, Kumquats & Natural Jus ($42) The Carnaroli Risotto with Maine Lobster, Preserved Meyer Lemon, Parmigiano-Reggiano ($17 or $34) - or experience The Tasting Menu ($95).   • "There is a long walk way that is lit with candles on a huge open water area with long white lounge chairs. Very Miami and very sexy. Then you walk into the restaurant and see a warm fireplace and open kitchen. There is also a private dining area for private events. Chef and waitress very accommodating. Great food. Good wine list. Very romantic and just gotta go if you are in the area. Food is delish. The beef entree on the tasting menu is a must."

  • "I surprised my husband with a birthday dinner at the Farm. We both thoroughly enjoyed our Dinner Tasting Menu. This is the menu where you are served seven "meals" that are paired with champagne or wine. Our server, Rebecca, was very socialable, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was outstanding (Duck Breast and Lamb), even the Garden Salad was superb (total farm to table freshness). The tasting menu sounded intriguing but we were not hungry enough to indulge. We will definitely add The Farm at Carneros Inn to our dining repertoire when in Wine Country. Well done to the friendly folks at Farm, they definitely have the hospitality and culinary expertise down to an art form."

  • "Food was nice. The value wasn't as good as the good quality. Some servings were disproportionate. Don't make up for an anorexic stringy 1/4 quail serving by placing it on top of stuffing that is the size of a regular entre size. Cheese and red pepper serving looked and felt like an amateurish cost saving serving. Soup was out of this world good. Our waitress was a very sweet and considerate person. Overall service staff was a little slow and, in some case, sloppy. Two other tables sent back their dessert wine as did we. Someone is asleep at the pairing wheel. Outdoor patio with fireplace is a dream. Pulling up to the restaurant looks nice. The place looks impressive and comfortable. Just slightly overpriced."

  • "I have been to Farm 4 other times. This is the only time that I saw the tasting menu as more of an option than the regular menu. We were entertaining high level clients and they felt limited on what they could order. Even though the chief approved a few changes, the clients saw items on the tasting that were not available. Plus, it's an all or none on the tasting menu, so that narrowed options even more. 3 out of 4 of us wanted the tasting menu. As before, the food was delicious and the uniqueness was impressive but there were disappointments."

The restaurant is located within a Resort setting (Plump Jack) and the beautiful decor is what I would call understated elegance. The entire wait staff here is on their game and know the product.   • "We celebrated my husband's birthday here after I found the restaurant's website. I knew nothing about it so I was gambling by making a reservation. It certainly paid off! Really lovely decor and atmosphere. The waiter was super attentive and professional. Maybe a little formal for our taste, but it fit with the atmosphere. The food was outstanding. The lobster risotto with preserved Meyer lemon was inventive and flavorful without being overpowering. The only complaint I would have is the corkage fee of $25. We brought our own bottle of wine from our favorite winery (that is not available commercially) and were a bit shocked to find it was going to be $25 to cork it. That's a bit excessive I think for the area. Otherwise, great experience!"

  • "Had a spectalular dinner here Saturday night. I let them know ahead of time that it was a birthday and they had a note from the staff for my friend at the table, and also brought out a special dessert with a candle at the end of the night. The decor was straight out of Restoration Hardware, very classy and farm-like. It was nicely dimly lit and very romantic. For food, we let the server talk us into starting with the lobster risotto with truffles shaved on top. It was heaven!"

  • "My husband and I ate there for Valentines day pre-fix dinner at $200.00/ per person. We got reservations at 9:15 and they had us wait in the lounge and we didn't get seated until 10:00. They did not seem that busy and the restaurant was not full!! They accommodated my food requests very nicely and the food was tasty and presented beautifully. However, it was not that memorable nor worth the money! Since we were staying at the Carneros Inn we ate there the next day as well to give it another chance. I have to say, I was not that impressed by the food and the portions were too small. I would not recommend the restaurant but the ambiance was nice. Maybe for a drink outside with appetizers. I consider myself a foodie and was very disappointed."

  • "We had reservations at FARM for a special Valentine's day dinner. We were greeted and seated promptly upon arrival. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They even moved us to another table to get away from a couple seated nearby who were talking loudly. Pacing of the meal was well timed. This was a 7 course Valentine's day chef's tasting special menu. The presentation was beautiful and the band (trio) played many romantic standards from the 50's to the 80's. Since I was driving, only one partook in the wine pairing although I had a sip here and there. What a great way to taste excellent wines and discover a new favorite! The only item of note is that cost was high ($560 with tip) but as a special occasion, it was second to none."

  • "You have no disposable income. This is a special place that requires customers that understand where they are. They have gone way out of their way to make everything as good as it can get. They attend to details. It is a place where I cannot list a complaint. OK, OK, yes they rushed the first course while we were still having our cocktails. Feel better? The point of this place is the tasting menu. If you are going to have starter, main and a finisher, then the tasting menu is only $30 more and well worth it. Yes, the portions are appropriately sized in order that you can finish all 7 courses. I did not leave hungry, and only ate one meal the next day. Plus their $25 corkage policy is buy one bottle and get a free corkage. Bravo"

  • "Went to FARM for our wedding anniversary. Whenever you are seated at a table that has a card waiting for you congratulating you on your anniversary you know it will be a special dinner. We were then given a complimentary glass of champagne to toast our anniversary, another very nice touch. The entire meal was superb. The wait staff was outstanding, always seeming to know what we needed next and hardly seen let alone heard. The entire night was fantastic! We will definitely be back!"

The inside and outside bar areas are very nice to have a drink/appetizer and to socialize. Menu is rather limited and the service is significantly lower than most comparable restaurants."

Everything we ate and drink was near perfection - the fennel soup and apple salad were tasty and balanced, the sea bass and risotto were amazing, and the cocktails were unique. When we first sat down we were seated near an obnoxious threesome who were yelling, singing, and high-fiving which was going to ruin the evening, but our server found us another table and it was uphill from there. Impeccable service and an exceptional meal in a gorgeous setting. We definitely will return!"

  • "Went to FARM with some close friends for a special birthday/retirement/christmas dinner. We liked the restaurant's vibe, classy, romantic and styling. The dinner was amazing. We had complimentary champagne and a special tasting from the chef. I ordered the lobster risotto and it was delicious. I had the lamb that was served 3 different ways and it was also mouth watering. My wife had the beet salad and the John Dory. She didn't give me a taste so I know she really liked her meal. It was cold outside but the outdoor area with the heaters and gas fire pit looked so inviting. It seems like a great place to go when it is a bit warmer with friends, drink great wine and have some really special food."

  • "Went to the Farm for my birthday and it was very special. My bf and I were each served a glass of prosecco after we were seated next to the fireplace. Open kitchen was fun to watch. Service was impeccable we never wanted for a thing. I had lobster and Meyer lemon risotto and my boyfriend had the beef fillet. Both prepared perfectly. We are serious about food and enjoy eating out, places like the farm are the reason why. I am a caterer and insist on attention to detail, I can relax at the farm because I know it will be perfect."
