FARM at The Carneros InnWindy in Napathe Farm is beautiful and romantic but uncomfortably
cold inside the restaurant. i asked the manager several
times to turn off the A/C and he could not get that
done. Table cloths were waving in the wind as well
as draperies!
Service was great. Ambience romantic..Food was good but not commensurate
with the atmosphere and price. Pretentious comes
to mind.
Be prepared to dress warmly and ready for ok
food. The halibut was boring and poorly matched
with 2 species of mushrooms. Not good in my book.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightfulSo, my 16 year old daughter found this restaurant while researching dining choices for our Bay Area business trip. She has a knack for finding the finest restaurants everywhere we go. We decided FARM did not disappoint!! We both agreed to have the 7-course Chef's Menu, and knew we had made the correct choice when our first course of potato dumpling with caviar melted in our mouths. This was indeed a fun evening out where the food, wine, and company was 2nd to none. It's always fun to have time away with my teenage daughter, and the evening was perfect as our palettes took an amazing journey thru the menu. Next time you're in Napa, don't forget to make time for an amazing meal at FARM!! Wine list is extensive; although on the pricey side.Staff is very attentive and friendly. The lobster risotto and filet mignon entrees needed salt or acidity; they tasted flat. The dessert was divine with a noteworthy treatment of carrot cake. It's location is perfect for those heading back to the bay as it's in the southern region, between Sonoma and Napa. The outdoor lounge is a great place to have a snack and relax before you trek home and staying for the full dinner is a solid choice as well. We were seated in a quiet corner booth where we could comfortably talk. The server brought us complimentary sparkling wine to kick off the celebration dinner. We shared oysters and preferred the e. coast ones. My niece had the sole with a cool bacon type mushroom. I had the ahi tuna, and while not the best, it was still good. We shared the banana dessert.The ambiance is modern and clean, while still maintaining warmth with the fabric booth. There was a fireplace nearby, as well as outdoor fire pits that we passed. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Our server was well educated about the wines, entrees, apps and desserts. The lobster and meyer lemon risotto is one of the best dishes I've ever had. The deserts are unique and fun. The service is tremendous. The wine list is awesome. The ambiance is outstanding.

We've tried one or two dozen of the nicer restaurants in Napa and Sonoma counties, and FARM has quickly become our reference for best food in the area.
The restaurant itself is modern but tasteful with a dimly lit and relaxed atmosphere in the evenings. The prices for the place are commensurate with the level of quality we've seen, so this might be more of a special occasion place than an every day dinner place - but either way I couldn't recommend it any more strongly.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAshleyWe did the tasting menu with wine pairings, everyone at our table was very impressed with all courses and the wine pairings. Great experience! We celebrated my birthday and my moms and they poured a complimentary glass of Champagne when we first got there. What a warm and inviting place. The coloring of the restaurant just draws you in. We spilt the risotto w shaved truffle which was creamy and prepared excellently!!! We also had the farm salad and it was very fresh and crisp (wish there was a touch more dressing) and the chestnut soup was outstanding. very nutty flavor and came with scallops. then had duck which was prepared well and very flavorful everything on plate made sense. the scallop entree was also very delicious. delicate and had lots of different textures and flavors. dessert was a brownie concoction which if you like chocolate you should have. our first here but definitely NOT our last!!
