Food is great at Farallon. This is one of the most professionally run restaurants I have seen with so many service staff running around doing their well orchestrated jobs. Oysters and bread are great. Four different varieties of oysters, two of the bread. I like the butter with the sea salt. Nice spinach salad with strawberries and cheese. Caviar was excellent. The mushroom roll that comes with the scallap was a nice presentation. And yellowtail and sea bass were great. Can't go wrong with Farallon for a terrific and memorable dinner cooked to perfection!

We had a lovely anniversary dinner here. Everything we ordered was deliciously prepared, beautifully plated. We splurged on the Maine lobster and it was worth every dollar. Our server was outstanding, very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a gift certificate which can sometimes earn you less than great attention but it made absolutely no difference. They could not have been nicer or more professional. Definitely recommend Farallon for a special ocasssion celebration. Plus the space is beautiful, having once been the Elks club swimming pool with a gorgeous barrel vaulted roof with wall murals.

Really wonderful food in all courses. The chefs are strong here. The decor is spectacular and unusual, with a spectacular art-deco sea theme. Ver noisy though. Hood spacing of the tables but not at alll an intimate feel. We had a cold breeze hitting us off and on although we were half way back into the restaurant. When we asked about it they said "it happens". I suspect this depends on where you sit.
Service was surprisingly poor for a high end restaurant. There was a long wait at the beginning before they took our order. And long waits between some of the courses. You expect pacing in a nice meal but the went well beyond that. In general it felt more like a large, busy restaurant where they were just cramming as possibe.

I specifally requested a quiet table,once with Open table on my reservations and when I called the restaurant as there was someone in our party hard of hearing . We were seated in the middle of the restaurant under the highest peak of the domed ceiling, with people on all sides. I had asked if a Wed night was a busy night and was told no. I know there was nothingyou could do about the crowds but we could have been sat at a quieter table in a corner. The food was not great, my husband's yellowtail and my petrole smelled a bit fishy,the squash in my dish was hard. We brought our own wine and bought one bottle there and I believe we were charged a corkage fee anyway. My out of town cousin paid for the meal so I do not have a reciept

The food and atmosphere are amazing. Our waitress was extremely knowledgable about the menu and the wine by the glass. I would return again.
I understand now how this place makes many lists for best seafood and romantic atmosphere.
