  • Private Party Facilities: For decades, the Far Western Tavern has served as a memorable hub for group functions. That tradition continues today in the upstairs Graciosa Hall at our Old Town Orcutt restaurant.

    Our Graciosa Hall accommodates up to 180 guests for business functions, family parties, wedding receptions and more. The adjoining Rosalie Room is a picturesque circular space that occupies the building’s signature tower, providing the perfect spot for a wedding cake or other event centerpieces. The outdoor Treetop Terrace offers additional space overlooking the town and coastal hills, while a restored antique bar from the Righetti Ranch contributes distinctive ambiance. Complete audio-visual technology is available for toasts and presentations.

  • "The Food and Service were Very Good. The restaurant is beautifully decorated! Both of my parents ordered the steak tacos and they said they were filling and delicious. They loved the pinquito beans. My husband said the Farmer Burger was really good, but said he needed mustard (and he does not like to ask). I had the Rancher 8 oz Top Sirloin Steak. It was tender and had great flavor. The French Fries were the best I have eaten. Really! These Fries were hot from the fryer and were seasoned perfectly! I was the only one who had dessert. I had the Cheesecake and it was worth every calorie. It is a real treat to eat at the Far Western Tavern."

The best part, however, is that I had noted a special request for a quiet space as my father's hearing is poor and I wanted him to be able to participate in conversation with our table of 5. We arrived and were shown to a table that was away from the main dining room that provided the quiet requested and it made the experience enjoyable for all...especially my dad who we were honoring early for Father's Day.   • "If your ever passing thru Orcutt, CA you need to stop at the Far Western Tavern. In my 30 + years of going to this restaurant, I have never been disappointed. The steaks are amazing! This restaurant features an extensive Wine list of many local wineries. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. In fact I have never had room for dessert so I can't comment on this aspect of the dinner. Special note: sit at the bar for a drink and enjoy their homemade potato chips."

  • "The traditional décor of the Guadalupe location still lives here, but is very clean, fresh and revived. One of the most classy places around. The cocktails in the bar area are very good and it is a great place to meet for cocktails. Since the bar area is on the smaller side and many people prefer to eat in the bar area it can get VERY crowded and thus very noisy. The dining room was much more relaxed and quiet than the bar area. I had the 8 oz. Cowboy Cut that included relish tray, shrimp cocktail, salad, beans and bread. The only drawback: whoever works the grill just can't seem to get the steak "just right." Mine was a bit dry and "done" since I asked for it medium rare. It was edible and I didn't send it back to avoid the hassle."

Once the sun set far enough, it was fine. Food was excellent and we loved the breadsticks. The relish tray was not as good as the Hitching Post's... A little bit sparse and presentation was lacking. Everybody enjoyed their meals."

My wife grew up on the central coast, and stated that the food is very authentic to the region and culture of the area, including some of the Italian influences that are historic to the region. We now live in the San Joaquin Valley and HAVE to return to our roots for the best steak in California. We miss the old building in Guadalupe but the new place in Orcuitt is very nice and the expanded menu is nice - however we come for the steak! We are always recommending it to our friends."

  • "Home of great steaks. The six of us, including a 2 yr old and 4 yr old, had a great experience at the Far Western in Orcutt, CA. This is local to us. We were in an almost private room - didn't need to worry about disturbing others or being disturbed. The filet mignon with scampi (surf&turf) were outstanding, as were the salmon and the BullsEye steak. Drinks were perfect as was the wine. And the deserts were superb. Just a great experience all around."

  • "We went for a birthday with a group of six. The restaurant is beautiful and the wait staff fantastic. The food though, in my opinion, was far different from the original restaurant that we loved in Guadalupe. The wait on our dinners was over an hour and although a couple of us got shrimp cocktails and salads included in our meals, the rest of us were left watching them enjoy while we waited for our dinner. I would love to see some kind of relish trays or bread served while we're waiting. They did offer bread sticks but no type of butter or salsa to dip them in. Other than that, the meals were good."

  • "The restaurant has been a tradition in my family for over 50 years. This was the first time we have been to the NEW location in Old Town Orcutt. What a wonderful meal. We took my parents who had not been to the restaurant in years based difficulty in traveling to the central coast. There were six us of and the service was fabulous. They suggested a local wine with our meal which was very reasonably priced and we all tried something different. Their grilled chicken in Rosemary butter and beer is now a favorite. My husband and father had the lamb and they raved about it. Old Town is a wonderful little gem and we hope to spend many fun meals with friends and family at the Far Western."

  • "I had high expectations after pulling up the 2-page lunch menu online. Unfortunately the menu was only one page and both of the dishes I wanted to order were not available. The waitress noted they had paired down the choices due to a recent fire. I made a substitution which was no problem for the waitress or the kitchen. I would recommend the scallop salad, nicely dressed and the perfect balance for a picky, light eater."

  • "The restaurant is really nice inside and the bar was lively. Within 5-10 minutes we placed our drink and meal order, and were served our drinks quickly. However, we were apologized to all evening as our salads, relish plate and meal all came out late. We were even told our bread was baking and we would get some shortly...the bread never made its way to our table. We were told there was a large order from the upstairs dining area that bumped our order and caused our meal to be delayed. To compensate for this my wife and I were served each a tumble weed shrimp. Overall we were not happy with the service and would have expected to be compensated with a free drink or dessert, not a tumble weed shrimp. Our dinner ended up being over 2 hours."

  • "Read a bunch of bad reviews of this the FW Tavern on other sites. Was apprehensive. But will tell you, I have no idea where those other folks ate. Went there for 10th anniversary. What a spread! Complimentary this and chef's gift of that. Entrees were to die for and the desert..mmmmmmm. Great ambiance; maybe a little on the noisy side as the evening progressed and the bar filled up...but very nice. Staff was very responsive and attentive but did not hover. Definitely a do again. A little pricey, but hey, nice restaurants command that for good food and service. Some people just have to complain about everything."

  • "so, it is one of those weeks and I go on line to make a reservation for a dinner on Friday night. we needed a quiet evening of wine and food to recharge our batteries. about an hour after making the reservation on line, I get a phone call from the restaurant saying the kitchen was still closed and they were cancelling all meals that evening. call went to my cell phone, which I don't check at work so I did not get that message until about 15 min before we were to arrive for our reservation. we were disappointed and kind of mad, even though they did call. problem is no offer of an appetizer or desert or drink on them for our inconvenience. and really, not much to make us want to come back and try again. just not right way to do it."

  • "I loved the sirloin, I had it well done and the taste that oak wood gives meat is just perfect. Not too salty, not too flavor less just the right balance. Fries in other hand were very salty. Service was OK, I had to asked multiple times for A1 sauce to multiple people and I was almost done the brought it over they also forgot to bring my beans and salsa. In regards to atmosphere it was a very pleasant experience copper hammered tables, heads of bulls hanging on the walls and good illumination. Prices were Ok with some tendency to pricey but steak experience was well worth it."
