Fandango25 years and counting....I discovered Fandango a quarter of a century ago and have enjoyed dinner there any time I am in the Monterey/Carmel area. It has been consistently outstanding on every occasion. They have several small rooms that are perfect for two and a larger more lively Bistro type scene in a large room at the back. There is also a private diningroom for large parties. The food is very creative and masterfully prepared and served. One can have a conversation in this restaurant, something that is becoming more and more rare. Food was fantastic and service was extremely attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the Carmel/Monterey/Pacific Grove area. Easy to get to and plenty of parking (unlike Carmel and Monterey). My boyfriend ordered the tapas and we are still laughing about it: Shredded celery root, a stuffed pepper with bad tasting chesse, duck liver on bread and some ham. It was horrible. I had the short ribs because they are very forgiving and, they were okay. All in all, very disappointed with the food. However, the maitre'd was extremely nice and gave us a romantic table next to the fireplace. Service was good! This is a large-sized restaurant with a cozy and intimate feel and a view of the water. Food portions are suitable for all appetite sizes and the service is personable while thoroughly professional.

And it surpassed all the raves others had shared with us. We arrived nearluy an hour early, and they could't have been more welcoming and understanding. The host was more than gracious as was the server and the runner. We shared an exceptionally large Beet salad and then craving a burger, we ordered Two (2). Everything was delicious and very well priced. The ambiance is cozy and the decor is varied and beautiful, especially the flowers. The menu is very inviting, the food is delicious and the presentation lovely.

We were seated in the back "greenhouse" area which was great in the beginning but grew to be VERY warm. We wondered why they didn't lower the shades, that we could see, over the glass. The men in our foursome got very uncomfortable.
Our server seemed rushed and curt and never came back to check on us after our meal was served. There were entirely too many people jammed into that area, people could barely move their chairs to get in or out.

Our appetizer was the calamari steak; never in my life have I experienced calamari as tender and flavorful as this.
