  • "Friendly staff, great food and ambiance is amazing! We would have liked to have seen a little more variety for their brunch, but what they had was amazing! For a great time, great food & great music, Fandango Restaurant is a must!"

  • "I have not been here for years. Probably 10 or so. Memories of what it was and what it has become are sometimes different. Food is still good, but it is not better than other places near by, like it use to be. Does that mean that the food become worse here or the competition better? I had the cassoulet, and while it was good, it was to great. Heavy on the beans, lighter on the meat. Meet did not taste like it can in some other places. Not as well blended as other places also. Everyone at the table enjoyed the food, but all had their dish somewhere else, or something close to it, that they liked better. But, they still liked it. So, enjoyable evening. Not as good as I wanted it, but still good."

  • "This restaurant excels in consistently delivering exceptional food and service. You cannot get any more perfect blends of flavor and freshness. Some restaurants excel with their entrée and the rest of the meal(salad, vegetables etc,) are just OK. Not at Fandangos. Everything is made to perfection for the guests. We have been going to Monterey peninsula for over 35 years and Fandangos id always a must. "

  • "I loved Fandango. I got the recommendation from someone i was sitting next to on a plane going to Monterey. The food was delicious and fresh. So many choices. Can't wait to go back. "

  • "Very good cocktails set the mood. Menu selections were varied; something for everyone. Our meals were well presented and delicious. Minor downer: single glass wine selections could have been more interesting, considering the beautiful wine list that was presented to us. Half-bottle selections offered were fine but still un-interesting and more wine than required. Corkage fee was staggering - check with the restaurant before bringing your own."

  • "The food and service are outstanding. There are many wonderful menu options to suit every taste. Very quaint location and quiet and peaceful ambiance, I highly recommend Fandango!"

  • "Fandango is a consistent favorite among our friends and family, and our choice for special occasions. Their Caesar salad is the best I have had, made different by a topping of shaved cheese and anchovies, upon request. Our party's favorite entree is always the Sweetbreads Piccatta. Few restaurants know how to prepare this meat, and friends who have tried it on my recommendation go back for me."

  • "Located in a quaint old home with some smaller rooms as well as a grand room with a wall of windows and fireplace this restaurant is a must see. I had the calamari steak - it was large, well seasoned and cooked perfect, My friend had the scampi and noticed that the vein was left in most of them - yuck. We were greeted pleasantly at the front door and seated immediately in a very small room that is off the first dining area. We found it claustrophobic and were reseated nearby in the more open dining room. The rest of the evening was wonderful though - especially the Crème Brule. The staff was attentive. Overall it was a very nice dining experience but next time I'm asking to be seated in the back, away from the front door."

  • "We were 3 couples that just wanted to catch up with each other. Fandango fit the bill. We were downstairs in the small room. All had great food and good time. Service was excellent."

  • "I had high hopes for this place after reading all of the positive reviews. My girlfriend ordered a pesto tortellini that was pretty good. I had their steak & "frittes" that were diner quality at best. I also ordered my steak medium well and it came out half medium and half rare. This leads me to think the steak was frozen at some point. The steak itself was not very well seasoned but with the addition of about two tablespoons of garlic butter it was made almost passable. The "frittes" were also clearly a frozen brand. Not worth the $70."

  • "Mostly we make it here for many of our special occasions every year. Though we've tried to find another restaurant to try out for our anniversary (New Years Eve) we've ended up here three years in a row. Been coming for many years and have never had a bad meal. The food is consistently wonderful, as is the service. And it says a lot that all three of my kids love to come here. Seating can be a little tight sometimes depending on where you sit, but I only mention this as a very slight issue we've had once or twice. (And my daughter is in a wheel chair)"

  • "We were disappointed in our dinner. For $32 we had a decent size steak, but only three small fingerling potatoes and one piece of broccoli. Two years ago, we had the same dinner when we were visiting Pacific Grove and the portion was much larger and better."

  • "Our standby eatery, full of old world charm. Servers are pleasant and knowledgeable, altho service is sometimes slow. Sometimes food is less than hot, but always tasty. Noise level usually moderate unless one encounters a large party nearby. Quite recommendable, overall."

  • "A friend in amorid of this restaurant brought me here as we were in town for a girls weekend away. Treatment is like royalty! The escargot were superb except for the unpleasant grains if sand encountered in 2 of them. It happens but is unpleasant! If you are lioking for comfort food the onion soup is the way to go! Especially on a chilly coastal evening! Top your dinner iff with the creme brulee and a cignac and you have ecperienced an evening to remember! Wonderful atmoshere, service and food!"

  • "When we arrived, our reservation was ready, and we were seated immediately. Specials were shared, drink order was taken, and we were on our way to a fantastic meal. Service was excellent as was the food. Great experience and will definitely return."

  • "I splurged on the Abalone, which was a whopping $95 and they didn't do it justice. I was extremely disappointed. Also, had noted that it was my Mother's birthday when I made the reservation, yet didn't get any special service for her occassion. All in all, we had a nice time, but not the best experience I have had."

  • "Service: slow, unprepared, confused. Wine arrived 45m after seating. Waiter had six tables all seated at the same time - could not keep up. Assistant server struggled to figure out which table dishes went to, nevermind which seat. Arrival of main courses (well into 2nd hr) led to mass confusion between the staff. While quite slow to bring food, insultingly quick to provide us our bill after delivering dessert. Food: salty, overdone, uninspired. The cassoule was a bowl of thick, gloppy, gelatinous salt. The steak for steak frites was 1/2 thick diner quality meat. Ordered medium rare, delivered medium well. The lamb was flavorful but over seasoned - I order lamb to taste the lamb, not the herb crust. Wine was good - kitchen not involved."

  • "The food was outstanding and the server was very nice. We loved being in a smaller room with only 4 other tables. The service was a little slow, but it was Valentine's Day so I think that may change on a less busy evening. We will definitely return when we're back in town."

  • "The European atmosphere and food are wonderful - we do not have any other restaurants like this in the Monterey Bay area. Fresh flowers on each table are really nice and the attention of the wait staff is appreciated."

  • "Great food. Great service and just an adorable place. It can get a little noisy depending on which room you are seated in but this last time my boyfriend and I ended up in one of the larger room but right next to the fire place and it still felt like it was just up. We make sure to stop by every time we are down in the Monterey area."

  • "My wife and I were a bit disappointed on this visit - we have always left the restaurant with the feeling that we will dine there next time we are in the Monterey area. This time we did not have that feeling. Perhaps it was partly that we were not seated in one of the intimate smaller rooms, but mainly it was the service was "ordinary" and the Paella dish that I chose was bland - I can cook that dish better at home."

  • "Food good; service poor. Filet mignons not cooked as ordered. Poor beer selection. Bread uninteresting. Cramped seating. Cold drafts from door. No action for birthday, despite being promised in advance."

  • "Went for my wife's birthday and wasn't disappointed. Located right next door to one of the last remaining true "neighborhood" grocery stores Grove Market. Had dinner early, so the restaurant was not crowded and the service was perfect. We both had the seafood paella and it was delicious. The seafood was obviously very fresh and the flavor was perfect with just the right amount of spice. We get down to Carmel several times a year and visiting Fandango will be on our list of place to eat in the future."
