A word from Faith & Flower - Coastal Luxury Mgmt
Faith & Flower is a contemporary Los Angeles restaurant located in the WaterMarke Tower in DTLA’s South Park district. The restaurant’s name pays homage to the two major renaissance periods—the 1920s and modern day—that have fundamentally shaped the Downtown Los Angeles community, with “Flower” referring to the street on which the restaurant lies today, and “Faith” for the street’s alleged name during the early 1920s.

Executive Chef Michael Hung, formerly of San Francisco’s Michelin-starred La Folie, will oversee all culinary operations. Michael Lay (Restaurant 1833, Rose.Rabbit.Lie.) helms the bar program as Lead Mixologist, and Ben Spungin (Bernardus Lodge) serves as Executive Pastry Chef.

Diner Reviews
  • "Well, both of our dishes are just extremely salty. When was the Chief last taste the food on the menu? Portion was small, and way too over priced. They never came by to ask how was everything. No one explains the menu or the way restaurant runs. They just assume that everyone knows?"

  • "Came here with friends for DineLA Restaurant Week, so this review is based off that menu. For the first course, the shrimp and grits toast and summer squash salad were delicious. The second course was a little disappointing. The trout was overly salted. No flavor but salt. The skirt steak had good flavor but was a little chewy. However, the BLT pizza was very tasty! The peaches and cream dessert was very good. The bar scene was lively, and I had a stormy phosphate cocktail there before dinner. Recommended. The decor was fantastic and made the evening feel like a nice, special occasion. The music was a bit off though... I think it was a weird mix of pop songs from 80's, 90's 00's. I'd go back."

  • "We went for lunch and the service was slow. Food was delicious but small portions and expensive for what you got. And the smell of wood smoke lingered in my hair the rest of the day."

  • "Well, If you are looking for a place to celebrate... Look No Further! My Birthday celebration was an event thanks to F&F. The food, ambiance, libations and staff do a fantastic job of whisking you away to a post prohibition time where live was all about the CELEBRATION! The food and drink are incredible and w/ Chef Michael Hung at the helm you're in food a good treat. Don't miss dessert as the talented Ben Spungin is the driving force behind this, and you wont be disappointed. And for a must wrap up your evening w/ a Russian Tasting of Absinthe!"

  • "Went here as a part of DineLA and was extremely impressed with the food. Everything that we tried was amazing! The ambiance of the restaurant is also really nice. The had great cocktails... got the Garden Cup which was like a better Pimms Cup. Overall definitely worth check out."

  • "My friend and I came here for DineLA on a Tuesday night for dinner. Our server was great- paid attention to detail, gave us his recommendations, and was very warm. We did not have to wait long for our food. We had every dish on the menu, and they were all very delicious, especially the shrimp and grits toast, handmade egg spaghetti, and mesquite grilled skirt steak. The ambiance and decor was also very unique and also added to our wonderful experience here. Highly recommend this place!"

  • "Everything we had was great, the calamari, pork sandwich, shrimp roll, beet salad, and deviled eggs. The only disappointment...they were out of the strawberry smore ice cream sandwich!"

  • "this place is amazing. a huge chandelier welcomes you. cocktails are amazing, but i missed out on their signature drink. check it out because only a handful is available every night. the dine la menu was tremendous. 8 courses between the wifey and me. it includes a whole pizza, steak, and bowl of spaghetti. worth the money."

  • "We brought our parents from the east coast to celebrate a birthday and they absolutely loved the restaurant. Even the following day they were raving how it was one of the best meals they've had in years. The summer squash salad and rib eye steak were the hit of the night. Shrimp toast with grits also delicious. The decor is gorgeous and sevice was attentive but not overbearing. All around a perfect evening."

  • "Servie matched the food -- all excellent. Front of house, back of house - it's ONE house. Faith & Flower is the example to follow on how to provide a great dining experience."

  • "Fabulous! Service was great! We made the last reservation on Sunday within 45 minutes beforehand online and received a polite voicemail message letting us know of the kitchen's schedule so we wouldn't be surprised. The hostess was beautiful, friendly and Not snooty - what an exception! The waiter with the purple bow tie described the oxtail pasta dish so enticingly well that we ordered it, along with splitting the DineLA lunch menu. It was my favorite thing!!! I would come back for that, the deviled eggs and the lemongrass pot de creme. The braised bacon was a little too smoky and heavy handed for my delicate taste buds but my bf loved it. So it didn't go to waste... the house Bloody Mary was lovely in presentation but too salty in taste."

  • "We went for Dine La...and the food and waiter were both excellent. The other wait staff seemed a little inexperienced but nothing that was not overcome by food and overall ambiance."

  • "The food was excellent, however, for the dineLA experience it was poorly timed. Great service by waiter, however, and excellent accomodating staff. Only problem was too much food on the table at once because we were enjoying ourselves and not rushing through the courses. The tables along the nice plush couch wall are so close that you are almost listening in on the conversations of the group next to you. A little more spacing would be nice but it is understood as it is a DTLA hot spot and freshly opened. I would recommend to anyone wanting to check it out, just be prepared to make friends and hope that your food looks better than the couple sitting right next to you :D"

  • "Faith & Flower was fantastic! The pizza and the pasta was so good! Everything really was done to perfection. The cocktails were done very well too. I loved the vibe and the scene that they were giving off. Everything from the plates to the bar scene was great, very detailed. Highly recommend it."

  • "First of all, the noise level was so high that the four of us could hardly have a discussion. The 2007 Zinfandel was way past its prime and/or had not been properly stored. There was a very limited menu choice, and several dishes were unavailable, leaving no salads. Wait staff very tentative."

  • "Loved, loved, loved the food! We sampled many items from the menu, loved the ambience, and the background music was great. Out first waiter wasn't very friendly & seemed annoyed with answering questions about the menu, but our replacement waiter was AWESOME! I will definitely return!!!"

  • "I had a reservation for 8h30 ,because the lack of service and management didn't get our table 0ne hour in a half late and had dinner at 10h30....ruin my birthday schedule ...so ruining ma special day.....will never recommend that place ever..."

  • "When we first got there, we were already impressed by the decorations. It's nice and modern. The service was good, water was frequently refilled, plates were taken out of our way when needed. The wait time between each dishes was a little bit on the long side though - it would be great if one dish is served right after the other. But we could understand that since it was very busy there and it was Dine LA week. Food is good but not surprising creative. I would still come back if I would like to have a cool place to chill with my friends. Oh, and they have great beer selections!"

  • "Great food and bar program! My second time there and the service was a bit disjointed. We sat at the gorgeous bar first. Bartender could not answer questions or make what we requested...off the menu..and asked someone else to help. It was 15 from the time we were seated for someone to take our drinks. As it is small plates to share, we ordered 6. The first two came and the then the next 4 all arrived together. There was not enough room on the table. The food was sooooo good I wanted to savor the but felt rush while each was hot. At $100 per person with drinks & food, service needs to be more refined."

  • "The food here is great! The jidori deviled eggs are a must try. I tired the oxtail angolloti based on my server's recommendation and it was a great recommendation. Very flavorful and savory with a bit of sweetness from diced apricots. I would order it again. I tried the carrot cake and it was one of the best deserts in Los Angeles. Incredibly decadent. I will definitely come back."

  • "I really enjoyed the ambiance and service at this restaurant. I ordered the oysters, mushroom pizza, and oxtail, and a couple cocktails. The food was really good, however I wouldn't rec recommend the oysters. The oysters were small and I hated the sauce for the oysters. I went during lunch time but definitely am interested in going back for late night drinks. Great to go with friends and great to go on a date!"

  • "We waited an hour for an 8:15 reservation on a Tuesday. This is not the management's fault, but be prepared to wait it out. Service was average. Food is good, but entire experience is a a bit over-hyped (industrial Downtown and/or Wallace in Culver City are similar, tastier food, and better pricing and service.) Decor is Gorgeous! And the cocktails, bar service, and glassware are terrific. The only big fail was the music; loud, moody 90's music. If you're GenX like us, you'll feel like you're eating in your high-school bedroom; that's a total ambiance mismatch with an expensive meal in a lovely room. Bottom line; Stop by the bar for one cocktail or a light snack!"

  • "Small shareable plates, each dish was better than the next. Amazing smoke flavors where appropriate. Everything from a raw bar to oxtaill. Full absinthe menu, Russian style is AMAZING and a must after dinner to settle your full stomach. The cocktail and wine list are original and delicious. I can't wait to go back to try everything I couldn't the first time. Prompt, enthusiastic service. The prices were very reasonable for the quality."

  • "For LA standards, service was fantastic. Was kind of a fail at the beginning; walked in, hostess say; "Can I help you?", not Hi, Hello, how are you, etc. I wanted to say "I'm here for an oil change you nit wit", but I refrained. However, our server was friendly, personable, and enjoyed interaction with her guests. She had good recommendations and overall made it a great night. A few minor flaws; Those serving the food were a little quick to drop and go, often we didn't understand or had more questions. We got fresh plates, but not fresh utensils at one point which was kind of annoying. Would go back though."

  • "I've been here a few times before. The food is inventive, and usually good. They need to update their menu style though as it's not a good explanation of what you get and the food divisions give you no idea how to put together a meal. The servers were of little help guiding you through the menu and too many people coming and going from the table means that you never know what server to ask anything for. I found the service quite lacking compared to previous visits. It would be better to restructure the menu to assist people in making decisions on how to structure a meal."

  • "My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. The table next to us had a loud group, which is normally perfectly okay, but they were especially loud. I mentioned this to the hostess and she immediately switched us to a more intimate table, without question. It was just so nice of them to take care of us like that. One minor question...why do newer restaurants feel the need to be "hip" and have the wait staff where Chuck Taylor's?"

  • "The Chef from my hotel, the Food and Beverage Supervisor, the Front Office Manager and I (Catering Sales Manager) came to this restaurant to check it out because we see people here every night! We ordered practically everything on the menu - Duck Liver Mousse Tarts, Deviled Jidori Eggs, NY Steak Tartare, Longanisa Sausage, Tick Cut Wheat Noodles, Oxtail Agnolotti, Seared Steelhead Trout, Chili Marinated Calamari, Roasted Mushroom PIzza, and Grilled Broccolini. The flavors were so unique! Our server, Christopher, was beyond attentive without being overbearing. He ended our night with a great presentation of Absinthe and Root Beer (I apologize for not remembering the name!) and it was the perfect ending to our night!"

  • "We had a reservation and requested a table at a good location since it was my girlfriend's birthday. Instead, we were relegated to a table in the back. When asked if we could have another table, the hostess said every other table was reserved! Well, we had a reservation, too!!! What made the other people's reservations better than ours? Did they specifically reserve those tables??? To add further insult, many of those "reserved" tables remained empty halfway through our dinner!!! The hostess' attitude truly left a bad taste in our mouths! Regardless, I elected to give high ratings for this restaurants because the food was delicious and our server and busboy were great."

  • "It was busy, but the server didn't show it. Unfortunately can't remember his name, but he was amazing. Very professional and attentive. I had the mushroom stuffed quail and my bf had the lamb shoulder and we started with the duck liver mousse tarts. All the food was amazing and flavorful. The only disappointment of the night were the cocktails. I thought especially because the restaurant is supposed to have a 1920s vibe/theme that the cocktails would be stellar, but no so much. I ordered the Harry Winston and it was basically all whiskey, which is totally fine because I love whiskey, but it's not what I was looking for. My bf ordered the Ben Hur and it was WAY too sweet. Can't remember the name of my 2nd drink but it tasted like cough syrup"

  • "This restaurant has a wonderful outdoor patio where it is quieter and more casual. But the restaurant needs to get over itself. When I called to increase the number of my party by one, I was put on hold and told that it would not be possible due to the restaurant's fullness but that they would make an exception. Then when I was called to confirm my reservation I was told that any later parties would sacrifice their reservation. Two very snooty and obnoxious interactions. Fortunately we were on the patio.. virtually alone for the first hour and the service was pleasant (if a bit fawning.. "my friends this" "my friends that" So I don't know what all that initial snobbishness was all about."

  • "I made reservations 5 days in advance but that really meant nothing. We were bobbed back and forth from the bar to hostess stand 3 times before we were seated. Each time we were approached by the hostess and each time we were told sorry, you are the wrong party. One of the times we were told to close out our bar tab, because our table was ready. To find out that it was not. or they mixed the parties up again. We were only 2 people. WHEN WE FINALLY SAY DOWN, we were seated next to a very large party that was louder than any restaurant party I have ever been to. We clearly were overlooked and treated like we did not matter. WE WERE NOT EVEN OFFERED A GLASS OF WINE OR A COMPLIMENTARY APP to keep us occupied while they worked out their issues"

  • "The food was excellent, the interior was gorgeous, and the wine and cocktail list was fantastic. We went on a Friday night, and it was fairly easy to make a reservation. Although the decor is very romantic, the noise level and loud 90s music render this place better for more casual/friend/family/business dinning. Overall, a wonderful experience."

  • "The restaurant is one of the most beautiful restaurants that I been at for a long time. The food was above average but not amazing for the prices. We went for my birthday dinner and couldn't stay for dessert because we couldn't hear each other. This restaurant is way to noisy for the 50+ crowd. Maybe younger people might not mind it, but we had a hard time enjoying our meal."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "A vibrant new restaurant downtown, Faith and Flower will hopefully make a few adjustments to bring it up to 5-star status. The decor is very tasteful, with an ample bar area and room for more private gatherings. Be warned that the noise level is high - not conducive to romantic conversations. When the server said the dishes were "family style," we imagined large portions that could be shared. The dishes are fine for people restricting their calories. They are beautifully plated, portions are small and food is served in waves. We would have preferred all dishes to be served at the same time. Is there a timing/communication issue in the kitchen? Also, we found the food to be saltier than required. I suggest visiting in a few months."

  • "I really wanted to like this place. Billed as a high-design, inventive small plate restaurant in DTLA. Sounded great to me. I've been twice I all I can say is "meh." On both occasions my service was very good - although there is something about the attitude of the servers that makes me think TGI Fridays. They are eager to please. Don't seem as sophisticated as other restaurants of the same quality. The food is pretty mediocre. Happy hour on the patio - a combination of traffic noise and a very bad selection of 80s music. The menu does not grab me - I love deviled eggs - why put kimchee on them? Because it's cutting edge? The carnitas pizza and white wine were very good. Regardless, don't think I'll be returning So many other awesome places."
