We both had the chicken and it was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The waiter was very professional, but also very friendly and helpful. We took all of his recommendations and he did not steer us wrong with anything. So great to have another high quality place in the Castro, given so many of the marginal places around. It appears as if the staff and the owner are finding their groove, and continuing with the consistency overall. I look forward to the expansion of their dining space to include the patio for outside dining.
It was also a great observation to see the chef/owner be confident enough to step away from the kitchen, allowing the staff to handle on their own. Kudos to the continued improvement!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Addition to the Neighborhood!My second trip here proved to be more satisfying than my first; the menu is a bit more settled with a bit more reasonable prices, the staff is comfortable in the space, and the food was outstanding. I can't wait for the back patio to open as the Castro is seriously lacking in nice al fresco dining spots. I'm sad that they don't have a full liquor license as I love a cocktail before dinner, and the wine list is very small, but other than that it's quite a gem. Duck? fantastic.
Lamb? (and I don't love lamb...) Transcendent.
Halibut ? (they ran out of the yellowtail) Spectacular. Watch out, Catch.....
No, really, it's THAT GOOD. Even the bread is good. And the butter, with some kinda smoked salt on top. I don't usually eat bread and butter (Saving my carbs for wine!).
Service was super friendly both times.
Given the superior quality of the food, $17-22 for an entree is really pretty reasonable, and at or below its obvious competitors in the 'hood.

The co-owner of the restaurant was very pleasant and personable. He came to our table a couple of times to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves. The food was delicious. I would definately recommend this restaurant. Our wait staff person greeted us with a genuine smile, and menus. She was very knowledgeable, and especially helpful with our choice of wine. Our service was seamless. We shared a couple of intensely delicious appetizers. The four of us all ordered different entrees. From the vegan beetroot 'meatloaf' to my lamb tenderloin we could not have been more delighted.
