A word from Ezme
The story of this intimate Turkish tapas and wine bar began ten years ago when the Bolukbasi brothers opened Mezè in Adams Morgan. Shortly after its opening Mezè became a neighborhood favorite as a spot for authentic Turkish cuisine and lively entrainment. Mezè’s success and loyal customers inspired the Bolukbasi brothers to open a new venture in the Capital city.

The answer was not too far from Mezè in Dupont Circle. Dupont has always been an area focused on food, friendly atmosphere and healthier living. At Ezmè, our customers will taste this combined experience one bite at a time.

Ezme is a small, but very cozy Turkish restaurant. The food is served tapas style (small plates) and all the food was delicious. They also have a nice wine list which features some Turkish wine. When we went they had a special tasting menu to celebrate their opening anniversary and the waitress offered to select for us, which we accepted. Her choices were great. The bar there is very small with about six seats or so, so not really a place I would go just for drinks. The food and service are great though.

Ezme looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but it's nice inside (albeit small). The food is all tapas-style and delicious. I'm usually indifferent towards Mediterranean food, but everything I had was excellent. There was a nice ambiance, though it's definitely a place geared more towards couples (probably due to said smallness). The service was touch-and-gp -- a waiter topped off our water glasses when they were still full, but we had to flag someone down when our glasses were empty. It might just be my American mind-set of rushing through meals, but more consistently attentive service would have been nice. Otherwise, great experience overall, and I definitely plan on going back.

Call for anreservation and be sure not to miss Ezme! A small, intimate, and slightly crowded place with great Turkish food. First timers should try the 11-course sampling menu. Adequate wine list and a great (Effes dark) dark beer. Just off DuPont Circle. I won't miss it whenever I'm in town.

First time eating Turkish and it was great. The 11-course (very small samples) was a great way to test many items...all of which we both liked. The server was a great help and the Turkish dark beer, Effes I believe, was terrific! Fun place in a fun area on the weekend.

This attractive restaurant off Dupont Circle was a happy surprise, as I'd practically closed my eyes and picked blind, just looking for someplace new. As newbies to Turkish cuisine, three of our party chose the 11-course tasting menu and we weren't disappointed. Each course was presented attractively and explained, and everything was delicious. (The only weak point was the baklava, okay but not among the best I've had--but probably a safe choice for a tasting menu.) One of us ordered from the a la carte menu and his lamb chops were exceptional! We let the manager guide us on wine selection, and the Turkish syrah he recommended was a real winner, too. We'll definitely be returning!

Ezme is a lovely restaurant in all ways. From the time you walk in, you notice the lovely tiles and decorations on the walls. You are greeted in a very friendly way, and the waitstaff are very attentive and helpful in choosing food selections. The food is absolutely delicious and there are many choices. I have always enjoyed visiting Ezme. One other thing – the noise level is such that you can actually have a conversation without yelling or screaming. This is a wonderful perk at a restaurant that already does so much to make your dining experience a memorable one!

We had so much fun eating here. Our first visit to DC and we found another restaurant gem the very first night. Our waitress Dichle was so super (friendly and knowledable both of the menu and the wine list). We opted for more of a sample course with multiple small plates. Each one was amazing! Their chef was super and so friendly as well. SHE came out to the table when we asked to meet her :) We would highlly reccomend them and we WILL be back upon our next visit. -Tina

Came to Ezme based on a friend's recommendation and brought another friend who was in town for a board meeting, and we both really enjoyed it. The food was excellent and the service as well. I particularly enjoyed the small plates and the delicious flavors of Turkish food. The lentil soup was incredible. I have a food allergy and the server was very attentive to that. I appreciated that and will definitely come back to Ezme!

Lucked onto this. Everything, the dips to the desserts (the Antak Katmer will make you forget Baklava) were great. Salmon skewer was perfectly cooked, lamb tasted like lamb. Salads weere good and creative. Had flights of Turkish wine (both white and red) which were fun. Portions are small, but do allow for sharing and trying lots of different flavors and approaches. Seats are comfortable!!!! No noise!!!!

I'm always impressed by the food at Ezme. Everything is really flavorful, and I've never really had a bad dish there. Definitely order the Muhammara spread as an appetizer, it's terrific. The Shepherd's Salad is really light and tasty. Loved the Mucver (Zucchini Pancakes) and Cigars (stuffed with cheese) too. The restaurant itself is small, but it's quiet and easy to hear everyone at your table. Has a nice wine list too. Will definitely go back again.

I was really surprised. This is not a run of the mill Turkish restaurant. The food was outstanding in comparison to the dozen or so other Turkish restaurants I've ever been to in my life (including in Turkey). Extremely tasty. If you are a Turkish food connoisseur, you must try Ezme. Its pretty unassuming, but let the food blow your mind. Very close to the metro too.

At Ezme, you can come in and relax. In this restaurant you really feel like you can get to know your dinner guest/s. The atmosphere is cozy and mostly quiet, but not too quiet. The food, well, that's a plus, too! You can order as many mezze as you wish, they all are great, and a pretty good deal, too. Especially for DuPont Circle. I LOVE the pear baked in wine for dessert. I was expecting really great Turkish food, because a diner the night before had mentioned to me that it was the best Turkish he had ever had. Well, not for me. I've had much better. Though the food here is certainly solid, it is good, not great. The Muhammara appetizer (roasted red pepper spread) was moderately tasty, a bit dry, and not memorable. The Durum Adana main course (spicy ground lamb/beef wrapped in pita) was OK, again nothing particularly special (not very spicy either). The octopus (appetizer) was the best part of the meal. That said, the cctopus at Urbana (across the street), which I had two days before, was much better!

We were disappointed with this restaurant. The place is pleasant and the servers were generally attentive, but after requesting that our dishes be served over a reasonable period (this is a small plates menu), we had to tell them to slow things down once food started to show up. But, the real problem is that most of the dishes were either poorly executed (tasteless) or simply ill conceived. Of course, we didn't try everything in one meal, but we tried seven items only three of which were acceptable (one of those was a simple spinach salad).
