A word from Ezme
The story of this intimate Turkish tapas and wine bar began ten years ago when the Bolukbasi brothers opened Mezè in Adams Morgan. Shortly after its opening Mezè became a neighborhood favorite as a spot for authentic Turkish cuisine and lively entrainment. Mezè’s success and loyal customers inspired the Bolukbasi brothers to open a new venture in the Capital city.

The answer was not too far from Mezè in Dupont Circle. Dupont has always been an area focused on food, friendly atmosphere and healthier living. At Ezmè, our customers will taste this combined experience one bite at a time.

Diner Reviews
  • "Ezme does a tapa-style menu, so be prepared to order a lot. the food was absolutely delicious and diverse. there was something for every taste."

  • "I was expecting really great Turkish food, because a diner the night before had mentioned to me that it was the best Turkish he had ever had. Well, not for me. I've had much better. Though the food here is certainly solid, it is good, not great. The Muhammara appetizer (roasted red pepper spread) was moderately tasty, a bit dry, and not memorable. The Durum Adana main course (spicy ground lamb/beef wrapped in pita) was OK, again nothing particularly special (not very spicy either). The octopus (appetizer) was the best part of the meal. That said, the cctopus at Urbana (across the street), which I had two days before, was much better!"

  • "very nice place, with lots of great choices! would recommend it for small groups (it is fun to share) or for a romantic dinner"

  • "This was my second time at Ezme and it did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was terrific, the service was fast and friendly, and the wine list is great. I'll be going back for sure."

  • "Great service on a Sunday afternoon. Also excellent food."

  • "Tapas style Turkish food We ate 22 dishes between 5 of us and lived them all. The lamb was exotic. We're in a food coma as the night went on! Lovely ambience Dilcina was so informative and patient. We had a blast !"

  • "Ezme was a pleasant surprise; very good Turkish dishes that reminded me of times in Istanbulm but served in small plates which made for great sharing within a group. The cuisine is authentic and the service was very attentive. The place is small but well worth the visit."

  • "We were disappointed with this restaurant. The place is pleasant and the servers were generally attentive, but after requesting that our dishes be served over a reasonable period (this is a small plates menu), we had to tell them to slow things down once food started to show up. But, the real problem is that most of the dishes were either poorly executed (tasteless) or simply ill conceived. Of course, we didn't try everything in one meal, but we tried seven items only three of which were acceptable (one of those was a simple spinach salad)."

  • "Have been here many times - it is consistently delicious!! It's quiet, pleasant, has great service. "

  • "Was just looking for a sweet quiet spot for my husbands 42nd birthday. Nothing too trendy or faddish. What a treat to find Ezme, still in the business of great table service delicious food (Octopus was outstanding!) and a lovely atmosphere. Our very nice waitress made just the right amount of stops to find out how our meal was progressing. Gave some recommendations. At the end even brought a birthday treat with a candle which was very sweet. Rare to find a quiet and much less tasty spot in this town anymore. A real delight from start to finish. "

  • "Brought an out-of-town guest to show her the eclectic nature of the dining options in DuPont but lingered over several plates and wines. Presentation was gorgeous. Never thought I would enjoy Turkish wines so much. Great service."

  • "Ezme is one of the very best Turkish restaurants I have ever been to outside of Turkey! The food is all fantastic, and mostly served in small portions so the experience is similar to eating tapas: everyone can order something different and then the table can share. It's a wonderful way to try a variety of things, and without exception everything is outstanding. The service is always superb and there is a good wine list as well. Ezme is not a huge establishment so it's a good idea to make reservations, especially for a party of 4 or more. We do not live in the DC area, but when we are in town, this is a must-go-to restaurant for us! "

  • "I had not been back to Ezme in a few years and was delighted with the food and service. We were sitting outside, it was a nice evening and the service and food was great. I will definitely go back."

  • "We got there for a little dinner snack to try this restaurant for the first time. The food was good, and I really liked the idea of Turkish tapas style place. The server was not very friendly, that is my biggest concern, she never wrote our order down and that's why she messed it up. My bf got totally different order and he had to wait an extra time for his "real order". The server never gave us an idea of what the specials are or what is the most popular in the restaurant. I wouldn't mind her doing that at all. We had a hard time to figure out what to order. "

  • "I brought 3 associates for a business dinner and all commented how much they enjoyed the meal. The tasting menu was well interesting and very good. And service was excellent!"

  • "Looking forward to it free the reviews but food was disappointing. Bread was not fresh from the clay over like I hoped. Baked humus was good but eggplant Was under seasoned. Grilled lamb, eh, dolmas had sweet finish, maybe the lemony finish in hopes for was more Greek? For Turkish food I thought Cafe Divan in Georgetown was better"

  • "The food and price were absolutely fantastic, and service was spot on. We probably picked the wrong spot to sit, under the loud speaker playing what I presume was Turkish music, but it was more goofy than distracting/irritating."

  • "The Dolma (stuffed grape leaves) and veggie kabobs were great. We also enjoyed the lamb kofte and cheesy rolls. The Turkish wines were better than average... The prices were very reasonable for a DC DuPont restaurant!"

  • "Turkish tapas with wonderful fresh flavors. Go with friends and try about 3 dishes each. Bes rue to include their dips and savor their homemade breads. Try one of their Turkish wines. "

  • "Was visiting DC for the weekend and stumbled upon Ezme through OpenTable. The reviews did not disappoint! Decided to go with cocktails and the 11 course tasting menu, which was probably the best decision we could have made. Everything they put in front of us was delicious and beautifully plated."

  • "Ezme has never failed to deliver -- in terms of food and service. Highly recommended. Friends and family who have been there with us have always loved the place. The muhammara, hellim peynir and scallops are favorites. Chris -- Washington, DC."

  • "Made reservations for myself and 18 y.o. daughter. She was very skeptical of trying Turkish food. It was a wonderful experience. Fantastic food, great ambience, lovely staff. I just had to give them a hug goodbye. We tried to convince them to open up a restaurant in Tallahassee where we live. This will be a standard visit for us every time we visit D.C. Loved it!"

  • "Wonderful Turkish Tapas within short walk from DuPont Circle Hotel. A great way to sample many different Turkish dishes. The grilled vegetables with eggplant purée were wonderful as we're the zucchini pancakes with yogurt and lamb with mashed potatoes and port wine sauce. Great selections for vegetarians. We sampled 7 dishes and none were disappointing."

  • "Love the food from start to finish. This place can be pricier than currently ranked. Service: the only issue was the waitress communicated something different to the chef for one of our orders to replace seafood for meat - they replace them with vegetables instead."

  • "On a rainy Saturday night in DC we slushed off to Ezme and found ourselves in a confusing situation: We did not understand much on the menu. Our waitress, Etsenia was very, very helpful, explaining that orders are small and we should order a few different items with each round. It was an adventure but really good. They have a way with the whole meat/veggie/sauce thing and the Turkish wines were good, not great. The atmosphere was very well acquainted and the staff was not only helpful, but very engaging and willing to help. I shall find my way back next time I am in the DuPont Circle area."

  • "We love the place, food, service was very good. After living in Turkey for three years and now being back in US we missed the Turkish cuisine. We were trying to find a good Turkish restaurant, and we finally did! Menu is a little limited but everything tasted great! Can't wait to be back!"

  • "This location has been through several incarnations but this one is the best! Ezme is a small, charming Turkish restaurant with fresh, wonderful food. The meat offerings were so flavorful and the quality excellent. The vegetables were also farm-fresh and with subtle, lovely flavors. We ordered salad and three small plates for two people and it was a bit much though. The salad was delicious but we didn't realize the small plates came with veggies as well. The steak is an excellent value and would be considered an entree in most places. Service was attentive, friendly and professional."

  • "On a visit to DC and wanting something a little different., we chose Ezme based on the reviews and proximity to our hotel. We were not disappointed. Enjoyed everything we had. Delicious homemade bread, hummus, dolmas, scallops and lamb kabobs. The baklava was wonderful! Tried Turkish wine for the first time and really enjoyed it. The price was reasonable, service was nice, restaurant was cute and the food was delicious. We will definitely return next time we visit DC."

  • "Come here with my significant other. Love the kebab of this place. Each plate does not contain that much food so you better order 5 or 6 courses for two people to get enough food. Try the sea food here! We ordered a shrimp with cheese and that is the best dish we have that night!"
