A word from Explorers Club
Perk up your dining-out routine with an adventure over to the artsy, funky, laid-back lands of the Explorers Club. Nestled in a century-old building, the Club bubbles with a Latin and Cuban-influenced decor; there is a lot of character there. The setting seems to perfectly accent the eclectic menu, helmed by Chef Dan Varga.

Vegans and vegetarians will feel as welcome as the carnivores, with many dishes aimed to please every taste and lifestyle. Explore the menu and try items like the "Sweet Plantains with Salsa Yogurt Dressing", the "House Made Hungarian Sausage and Rib Tip Platter", "Roasted Half Chicken", or "Sweet Chile and Soy Tempeh".

The Brunch menu is just as delicious, offering everything from traditional breakfast items to "Huevos Rancheros" and "Cuban French Toast".

Over at the bar, there are plenty of wonderfully-crafted mixed drinks, beers, and wines to accompany your favorite dishes.

NOTEWORTHY: Lots of parking available.

I ate at Explorer's Club on New Year's Eve and it was a classy establishment. So much so that I proposed to my girlfriend there and we loved our Vegan Parrillada. For anyone looking to enjoy fine drinks (My fiancée got a Peach Delight NYE Special and loved it.), great food and a cozy atmosphere, this is the place.

I made reservations for New Years Eve, because the reviews looked good and it was fairly close to home. I was disappointed from the time we sat down and were given a limited menu, until the time we left. The food was under seasoned, If it was seasoned at all. There is no changing the sides that come with the entrée, because as our server said, the chef is a "princess" and thinks he knows best. Needless to say the experience was very disappointing.

This was my 2nd time there and I was bringing 2 friends who had never been. Waitress was very slow. The french fry oil was old you could smell it on the food. The beer selection was lacking. The main course took a long time to get to us. Then to top it off the Coffee was cold. They must of had a bad day...

Nice spot for brunch. Would have never made it to this part of town otherwise. The sweet plantains with yogurt salsa were excellent. The morning mac was decent, although I thought the inclusion of toast (starch plus starch) was a little redundant, and the egg on top didn't match quite as well as I'd hoped. Flavors were good though. The artwork on the walls is nice. Noise was high, but it's to be expected in an old house. Lots of families. Will come back sometime to try the monthly menu.

There is definitely something charming about this place. I really love the artwork on the walls. The place is small and cozy. The service has been great for all three of my visits. My 1st visit was actually my 30th birthday dinner with 14 people and the place did not disappoint. I picked this place because in addition to the menu, there was an alternating monthly menu inspired by a specific country. I think when I went, the monthly menu was inspired by Ireland. Off that menu I had the salmon and it was fantastic! My other visits, I went for date night and had the jerk chicken, chile relleno, sweet plantains, mofongo burger...all excellent. Haven't been back because of the far drive from Lewis Center, but hoping to visit again soon!

We're from out of town, but have hit the Explorer's Club twice now: once for brunch, once for dinner. Both times the food was excellent! Love that they change the menu monthly to allow you experience a different culture. This visit, we fell in love with German fare. Though they have a standard menu that is seasonal and most excellent as well, the cultural switch will keep us coming back in the future!

Excellent food and service but very hard to hear and carry on a conversation. The place was very loud, had to ask waitress to repeat herself several times and could not talk to friends at the table due to the volume. I would never bring my Father here as he would not be able to carry on any conversation at all due to volume.

Amazing main menu and a separate special menu that changes monthly with a different theme. When we were it was German and was fantastic. My husband ordered from the main menu and he was thrilled with his meal. The restaurant is inside a restored old house and is very cool inside with original art on the walls. The server was great. She was very knowledgeable about the every aspect of the restaurant and the food. She was also very attentive. We have found our new favorite restaurant in the area.

This is truly one of the best restaurants in Columbus. The food is quite simply amazing. The meats are cured in house and are beyond delicious. I love that there is a different themed menu each month. My husband and I have dined here a few times, and try something new each time. Our servers are always cheerful, knowledgeable, and prompt. I highly recommend reservations.

My husband & I went to the Explorer's Club for brunch on Sunday-our first visit. Loved it. Creative menu that goes beyond the traditional eggs, bacon and pancakes (although it includes those, too). I had fried eggs and home-cured bacon (yum!) over mac n cheese. It was a lot like a deconstructed pasta a la carbonara. Creamy, perfectly seasoned comfort food. My husband had the chilaquiles and ate every bite, even though the portion was large. The coffee was from Crimson Cup - very smooth. I want to try everything on the menu! The inside decor was pleasant, the ambience was nice, and we got terrific service. Very reasonable, too. They currently have a German menu in the evenings. Great place. We'll definitely be back!

the dining room was small and a bit loud. the menu looked different and interesting. our food took 40 minutes and our waiter didn't come over once to explain or apologize, or even acknowledge the wait. we ordered coffee and only got one refill, which did not include a refill of the cream. we couldn't really enjoy the food because we had to rush to make our show on time. when we ate cold leftovers later, we liked them a little more. overall, bad service and not bad food.

This was the first time my husband and I dined at The Explorer's Club. We have heard the brunch is the best but we gave Saturday night dinner a shot. The location is a little rough (South of the German Village), so would feel more comfortable walking around this place in the day time. The cocktails were great and the plantain appetizer really hit the spot. We didn't order from the special menu but will keep an eye out for the changing menu each month. Enjoyed the veggie wrap and my husband had the rib tips with mac and cheese. Caught a couple bites of the mac n cheese and highly recommend this yummy comfort food! Overall, I would go here again for the fresh food and something different from the norm!

I'm vegan, boyfriend is not so I always try to find a place that will suit both of us. Explorers Club is that. I like their menu as it directly Tells you what is vegan. My meal was delicious. I got a sandwich with a bean salad. Well, the bean salad had a rock in it. I told my server and she just excused it as what happens when you have fresh ingredients. No apology, no comped meal or dessert, nothing. My boyfriend said his sandwich wasn't very good and that he's never had bad bacon until then. We'll find another date night location.

Because we were talking and catching up, we didn't realize it took FOREVER to get our food, but luckily we were not in a hurry and actually enjoyed the extra time to talk. FANTASTIC. I first discovered The Explorer's Club during last year's restaurant week and have been hooked ever since. With a wide range of vegan and vegetarian items along with a standard omnivore menu, it can and will please everyone! If you're open to trying new cuisines and you will not be disappointed here as their menu is constantly evolving. I recommend going for a deal on Wine Wednesdays.
