It was our first time at the Exchange Street Bistro and it definitely will not be our last. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised from the moment we walked in the door. The entrance was quite inviting and we immediately liked the seating arrangements and the ambiance. Our waitress was A++ and she was always there when we needed her. Our martinis were excellent and there were quite a few different ones to choose from. I recommend the Burnt Orange and the Macaroon. We both had a Bistro salad which was very tasty. And we both had the special of the night which was a mixed grill. Everything on our plate was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We highly recommend the Exchange Street Bistro!

The food was very, very good. The only complaint was the penne with sauce that accompanied my friends meal. I had the chicken and eggplant lasagna, which the waitress recommended. The service was wonderful.

I've been to Exchange St. Bistro many times as I live in the area. I find it to be top notch for Malden, but that doesn't say much to me overall. I wouldn't go there if I lived anywhere else. The food & service are inconsistent and I find that I'm better off ordering appetizers or a burger as opposed to an entree, which almost always disappoints.

When we arrived it was very busy for the new year but we did not wait long and services was great. They brought the food fast, the food was very good and even though the food came fast we did not feel rushed at all. We have been to this restarant many times and have always enjoyed it and would higly recommend it for a nice night out with a group small group of friends.

Exchange Street Bistro is a great thing for Malden Center, but I find it a little overpriced for dinner. The food is good, but I don't think it's good enough to compete if it were in Boston. The lobster mac 'n cheese included two claws and some so-so mac n cheese for $22 with only a green garnish when some greens in viniagrette should have been included - not a good value and not a dish I'd order again at that price (at around $16-17 it may have seemed better - you'd get more lobster in any decent lobster roll). A special was quoted at $2 less than what was charged on the final bill - when it was pointed out to the waitress, she almost acted like it might have been her mistake and our bad luck, but it was corrected.

Exchange Street Bistro was the best of both worlds. The menu selections were pretty straight forward and the portions were large, but the quality and presentation were very upscale. The martinis were huge! The have great U shaped booths that could fit up to 8. Good spot for appetizers & cocktails with friends.

Dining at Exchange Street Bistro was great! My family and I went there to celebrate my husband's birthday. The place is beautiful and quite. The food was presented beautifully and clean. The flavor was excellent; it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The staffs were friendly, helpful and professional. The restaurant beats any place in Boston without being pricy. I definily will go back.

  • Excellent service for a Friday

    Dined on 10/24/2008
Excellent service for a Friday evening. We began the dining experience with the Tapas appetizer for two. At $20.00, it was excellent. The Tapas contained both fish, and beef selections. Our main course was the special fish dish and the baked haddock. Both were very well presented and fresh tasting. We saved room to share a desert. We selected the bread pudding. It was dry because not enough custard and bananas blended into the pudding. The taste was dry. We closed the dining experience with the cappocchino. This was not good. Needed more coffee taste. This restaurant needs to improve on the ending to a great meal. For evening, the tables should have white table cloths to increase the ambiance.Wines by class very good.

Nice surprise in Malden Center! A high-end American bistro, with modern decor, great menu and wine list. Free on-street parking or validated lot parking. Even on a Saturday night, parking was not a problem and the restaurant was not too crowded (in fact, surprisingly few patrons). Music a little too loud for the early dinner, but clearly would be a great bar scene later. Delicious warm spinach salad, decent risotto with nicely seared scallops. Generous pour on a $6 glass of wine. Everything underpriced compared to a Boston bistro, but SO close to the city! Give it a try!

Apps are inventive and very tasty. Our split entree was on 1 plate; we were given 2 small plates, which I don't like. And, we had shrimp scampi - dull... but, I think other entrees would be much better... will try next time. The decor is really snazzy, georgous floors!, nice seating and lot's of space! That's what you get in the 'burbs - lot's of space! Very, very nice...
