The wait staff was fantastic with our girls--bringing covered cups, catering to them first, and offering half-portions for their smaller tummies. Our waitress was also wonderful. She really knew her stuff and was so prompt with all of our orders. While not a "kid-friendly" place, I would definitely recommend for well-behaved kids who like to eat. Everyone was wonderful and we had a great night celebrating our special occasion.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best Mediterranean in the Bay!Perfect for date night, my boyfriend and I ensured our place at the restaurant by using opentable to make reservations. We arrived early and were able to be seated a few minutes before our reservation. The service was great. I ordered the swordfish and my boyfriend ordered the lambchops and they were both amazing. The greek salad we ordered beforehand was amazing too! Great wine list, and the restaurant is nicely decorated and very ambient!

We chose our table, got a friendly welcome & beginning service...and then other folks came for lunch. Our table was surrounded by loud-talking men's groups (from 2 to 8) who outdid themselves in VERY energetic conversation & laughter. Food arrived & we ate quickly (it was all delicious!) but did not linger because we couldn't hear each other. I'm not sure there is a quiet table area in the place...so don't know if we will return, at least at lunch. I LOVED IT! The food was amazing. I created my own combo plate pairing up the moussaka and the lamb riblets (riblets on the appetizer menu). My mom had the lamb chops. We started off with a combination of dips and pita bread. And finished w/custard wrapped in philo. It was all delicious! It was very busy throughout the restaurant and bar. Our waiter was pretty busy but that did not effect his attentiveness with each of his tables. Great food, great service, exciting yet cozy atmosphere, and I can't wait to go back. What it's missing is a certain energy level and spirit. It seems more like a cash cow business enterprise than a place to get a special meal. Wealthy Silicon Valley types go in, drop a couple hundred bucks, and walk out. The San Francisco cousin of this restaurant serves almost exactly the same food, but there is a sense of service there and joy there that just makes Evvia seem dull in comparison. It's also a prettier restaurant and setting. Plus when you're done with your meal you can take a walk along the bay. One setback: very surprised that had no birthday treat!? For example, we celebrated our anniversary there 2 months prior, and received complimentary dessert. This time nothing was offered.

The atmosphere makes you feel as though you are in a restaurant in Greece. Our server was attentive, helpful, and even took time to teach us a few phrases of Greek, when we asked for them. The mussel appetizer was "nostimo!" as was the lamb shank and lamp chops. Although stuffed, we split a dessert of what had to be the best homemade cherry ice cream and a warm chocolate cake. I found Evvia online and from the reviews I read, this place sounded ideal. Turns out the food and the service were impeccable. Everyone at the table devoured their food. The arugula pesto ravioli, with wild mushrooms and spring vegetables, was hands-down the best ravioli I’ve tasted. And the service *almost* overshadowed the food.
