A word from EVOO
EVOO, an acronym for extra virgin olive oil, serves eclectic, New American cuisine. We were named best Eclectic restaurant in Boston in the 2011/2012, 2009/2010 and 2007/2008 Zagat Guides! We use as many local ingredients as possible, and change items on our "Home Grown" menu daily. Produce from Verrill Farms, Eva’s Garden, Angelini Farm and various local farmers’ markets, livestock from Lovejoy Brook Farm and clams from Pat Woodbury are frequently on our menu. Continued

This proved a good place to sit: an entertaining view, not too noisy, intimate because the booths were for two. Food was very good - innovative ideas and preparations, but flavors could have been a little sharper."

  • "Fabulous evening of excellent, creative food and drinks. Table overlooking open kitchen provided entertainment as well as education on the orchestration of fine dining. Fun and innovative cocktail list. We split a smoked fish terrine app and the spiced pecans and marinated olives and it was a great party of flavor with our cocktails. Husband loved the bacon infused bourbon! We both loved the excellent swordfish entrees, so full of flavor and fresh. Chocolate dessert was delicious, especially the center chocolate portion. Could have been warmed a bit more, but excellent quality chocolate."

  • "Our party had a very pleasant dining experience at the EVOO location in Kendall Sq. The service was top notch, and the ambience/inner décor was easy on the eye and comfortable. Our appetizers were very good, especially the Chinese Box (recommend ordering the larger portion for your group). My beef tenderloin was excellent and was the highlight of the meal. Cooked to perfection! Overall it was a very good dining experience and I would recommend. One word of caution; a meal with appetizers, drinks, and dessert will run about $75-$80 a person (including tip)."

  • "Evoo is a great choice for a night out, and I have not had trouble getting reservations a day or two ahead. The "Chinese Box" is my favorite item on the menu, a mix of beef, brown rice, shrimp, slaw, gingery and hoisin flavors, eleganty arranged and presented. The Arctic Char was also excellent the last time I was there. And don't miss the bread pudding dessert-- unexpectedly light and sweet, with a little toffee wedge."

We have know about the restaurant for some time and it has bee highly recommended to us by friends in the past so when we saw it listed on Dine Out Boston we made it a point to visit. The menu was very different and each course we ordered was quire delicious. Certainly a return visit in the not too distant future. Highly recommend.."

  • "In short, the food itself is very high quality. My spouse and I each found starters and mains that appealed. The food was well prepared with high quality ingredients. Unfortunately EVOO caters to corporate events. This night they had at least one or two large parties. They serve all the food to those parties at once. It seems then that everyone else has to wait. We had to wait about 45 minutes for the mains, and about 20+ minutes for desserts."

  • "Food was amazing. Great variety, and good for sharing. Pricey, but worth it for the quality and variety. The best part was they have a row of seats alongside the open kitchen, so you can watch the chefs prepare your food (and others!). I wouldn't go there every day since I'm on a budget, but I was definitely happy with the value and experience for a celebratory excursion. Staff are friendly and well informed too."

  • "Tried the Dine Out Boston dinner menu. Very nice selections from regular menu. All three courses were great. Curry soup with scallops, locally sourced lettuce salad, Arctic Char with Asian veggies, Chicken breast with grits croquette and absolutely delicious pumpkin habanero slaw. Dessert was truffle cake with toasted marshmellow. Loved the cake, not so much the marshmellow. Used the wine pairings. A few surprises - pinot noir with the fish, but it all worked. The service was very good. Attentive without being overbearing. Loved the open service kitchen and the great management of the service. Price was right for a high end meal in town. All in all a very good Dine Out Boston experience"

  • "We always feel so well taken care of when we go to EVOO. First, the five of us were seated in a somewhat secluded booth, enclosed on three sides, so we could hear one another. (Hearing turns out to be a big issue for us.) Then our waiter was very helpful with allergy issues. The food itself is always inventive, interesting and delicious, and beautifully presented and this time was no exception. This is our go to restaurant when we go out with friends, as well as for any special occasion."

  • "I had high expectations and the first course delivered. The Lourders' Burratini with Roasted Squash-Amfissa Olives and grilled Focaccia was sensational. The combinations of flavors and textures were unique. But the entree I ordered, the Butternut Squash Croquette with Roasted-Mushroom Ragout, was mediocre. The weak link was the Ragout, it was too bland. Dessert course was awesome. My companion and I shared two desserts and they both were excellent. If it hadn't been for the entree the meal would have been a stand out."

  • "It's all about first impression and my wife and I were totally charmed even before the food we had ordered had arrived. The artisan bread served was awesome and the dip was a perfect balance of exquisite extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and parmesan cheese. Not the usual cheap olive oil, flavored with hot pepper to mask the bad quality of the main ingredient. This was the foretaste for a great meal to come. The scallops were perfectly balanced by the pig skin risotto, the burratina with tapenade was smooth and elaborate. The rabbit confit was delicious and filling. We finished the perfect side dish to match the rest of the order: grilled squash with feta, the piece of art which topped the meal."

  • "Went here with my daughter. Really enjoyed our plates. Fresh ingredients - refreshing combinations. Olives and spicy/sweet walnuts, yummy carrots just on the fringe of carmelization, tender rabbit with a hint of salt paired with sweet port-smoked cherries, perfectly-cooked beef fillet with onions and mash. Truffle cake with melted marshmallow a sinful ending. Service very good. Decor fine. A little loud where we were near the kitchen with all of the hard surfaces. Areas off to side with curtains robay more intimate and relaxed. Overall, great choice."

  • "We've eaten here twice in quick succession. EVOO is a really fun place to eat for 'foodies'. There is not one dish on the menu we don't want to try, and there are new things all the time. Every dish we've had so far as been really well thought out, balanced, expertly-prepared and delicious. There is plenty of choice on the wine list and it's reasonably-priced. Fun cocktail suggestions. We want to come back just try their charcuterie and cheese offerings which look really good, too. The first meal we sat right opposite the open kitchen - the way they work is impressive given how many plates they are sending out. Service is very friendly."

  • "There are lots of upscale restaurants in the Boston area, but EVOO successfully takes wonderful combinations of flavors and ingredients to a new level. My Arctic Char with Gingered Potatoes, Bok Choy, Tempura Fried Shiitake Mushrooms and Dried Mushroom Mayonnaise was the most satisfying restaurant meal I've had in ages. The atmosphere is warmer and nicer than it looks in the restaurant's photo."

  • "EVOO never disappoints - unless you consider that I had a delicious sandwich there a week or so ago and was looking forward to it again this week; menu change! Still was not disappointed in what I ended up ordering. We were in early, to beat the noon lunch crowd, and the staff was quick and efficient and helpful with our questions about the menu. The food at EVOO is always great; high quality, beautifully presented, and tasty. What more could you ask for?"

  • "Those members of the group that ordered the "large plate" fish on the menu were very disappointed with the portion size. If you are going to put large plate on the menu, at least realize that your customers are expecting a bit more food than the other plates. The people who ordered the sandwiches and Chinese box were quite happy. Those that ordered the "cheesecake" thought the wedge of cheese with three lettuce leaves would be better called an appetizer. With those comments said, overall we did like the food and the service was excellent, but this is not a place to go when you are hungry."

  • "The evening was absolutely wonderful, our service was absolutely exceptional. I commend our waitress Kylie, due to the high volume in the restaurant; you would think we were her only table. That's how good she was at her job. The menu on valentines day was odd, everything was savory and sweet. The food was great, however my fiancé wasn't all about the savory sweet game. Would most definitely return due to the menu changing."

  • "We went for Valentine's Day. We arrived early so we had a drink at the bar. They could have seated us right away but we opted to decompress a little first. We opted for the fixed price menu with the wine pairings and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fabulous mix of flavors and local ingredients. The only downside was not having enough room to finish dessert. We would definitely go back."

  • "Atmosphere was really nice. Service was excellent. The best meal was the rabbit confit salad. The braised goat croquettes were alright. They were meaty but I wish they had a little more flavor. The yogurt sauce for the croquettes needed lemon juice or something citrusy. For the entree, my friend got the chargrilled arctic fish which looked good but I don't know how it tastes. My entree was the take out Chinese box which also looked awesome. Unfortunately, the taste could have been better. I'm not sure what kind of vinegar was added but it was a little overpowering and I couldn't taste anything else on the dish.Overall, great place for special occasions but food can be a little bit better."

A warm welcome at the door, friendly and extremely helpful wait staff, comfortable but lovely décor and truly delicious dinner. From the rabbit ragout to the scallops to the steak to the yummy dessert - we were well taken care of without any hovering. Really a delightful experience - we will return!! Well done!"
