EVOOWhat a pleasant surprise!I had never been before and no one in my party of 5 had either. We all LOVED our lunch and are dying to go back. We are so excited that it's so close to our office and we will all be back for sure!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMlocovore kind of placeInteresting food with a nod to local finds. May have manipulated the food a little much to keep it local with some of the flavor parings being a little questionable but overall the food was interesting, well prepared and tasty. We had an eclectic crowd so it matched us very well. In particular the chicken was as good as any of us had eaten, the sweet pea ravioli as well as the mushrooms with polenta were vegetarian delights, and the minted spinach was excellent with the samosas. The goat cheese tart and strawberry gaspacho were well liked and for dessert we all found the sorrel sorbet different and refreshing.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at new location.First time at new location. Hostess was rude.
Food not at level of original place and menu
Too restricted. Hard to find something to eat.
Also they ran out of some items and it wasn't
Late. Sad to give this review. It used to be a favorite.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMContinues To Be Our StandardWhen we go out for dinner at some other restaurant, often our means of evaluating the experience is to ask, "is it as good as EVOO?" And far too often the answer is 'no." EVOO remains consistent, interesting, delicious, and inventive. Even on a night when neither Peter McCarthy (the creative mastermind here) nor his wife, Colleen, were present, the food was wonderful, the service excellent, and the experience perfect. Individual dishes such a the rabbit confit salad and the soft-shelled crab stuffed with smoked bluefish were memorable, but everything was very, very good. EVOO continues to be the bar we set for others to beat—and they rarely do.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's OKI have found that Evoo has fallen for the adage that a great location frequently affects the food negatively. They continue to be friendly and the food is good. But I think they have lost some of their edge. In the past I looked forward to the food at Evoo. Now it's a good lunch place with a very good location so the diners come flocking in.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebration DinnerWe chose EVOO to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Tufts University. My daughter wanted to try someplace new (to us) with interesting food. I had a couple of picky eaters in my group so I wanted a place with a varied menu and a nice atmosphere.
EVOO came through on all accounts. Everyone was able to find something on the menu and loved their meal.
The service was very nice. We hadn't told the restaurant we were celebrating a graduation, but our thoughtful waitress noticed my daughter opening cards. When she served dessert "Congratulations" was written in chocolate on the graduate's dish - a nice touch! Noise level was moderate and allowed for conversation despite a lively atmosphere. We'll be back!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSmoked rabbit confit was delightfulSmoked rabbit confit was delightful. Artic char asian style with sushi rice and bok choy was the highlight. Parsnip cake was good but a bit too sweet, each bite came with an overbearing amount of sugar granules. Perhaps from the sauce. Due to the deep dish, there was no way to avoid the sauce where it appears as though the sugar granules were embedded. Longboat Sauvignon Blanc paired with our meal.
Server Tierre (Brazilian fellow) was very helpful, pleasant, efficient, and very professional.
Will surely return.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEVOO always has an interestingEVOO always has an interesting and delicious menu. Its great for dinner with friends as well as lunch with business people. It's always guaranteed to be good.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMfresh ingredients but sometimesfresh ingredients but sometimes dishes don't harmonize as well as i would like. had lamb which was cooked to perfection but the manicotti that came with it felt out of place. overall, excellent food though. rabbit salad was perfection!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFABULOUS!We went to EVOO for our anniversary, we couldn't have gone to a more perfect place. We had never gone before so we were looking forward to something a little different. I felt our meals were prepared with so much care and attention. Our server was excellent, so attentive and genuine and able to answer any questions we had about the food or wine choice. We got a seat by the kitchen, highly recommended! The kitchen was immaculate. It felt like everything was carefully chosen, the food, the service, the atmosphere, everything! Equally important is that it doesn't feel stuffy or pretentious. Parking was reasonable at the garage for $1 an hour up to three hours. I can't wait to go back!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved the entire experience.I loved the entire experience. The food was excellently balanced in terms of textures and flavors; I could actually reason why each ingredient was there. It also struck me how much they each stood out despite the unity of the dish. While the price was far too high for a regular visit, it is definitely worth a trip if you are looking for a place that will teach you something about ingredients and presentation. Everything is fresh, seasonal, and most is very local (they listed the sources on the menu!). The warm lighting set a romantic mood (although bad for pictures) and everyone who worked there was amiable. Despite dining by myself, I never felt lonely and always had someone to talk to. If I lived near Boston, I would save money to return.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWell managed staff-- one ofWell managed staff-- one of the most attentive team of servers I have ever experienced.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMboth of us had the Chineseboth of us had the Chinese Box, but the veggie version (tofu) worked better than the std shrimp; had hoped to find pretty things on draft, but no joy4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have just had the pleasureWe have just had the pleasure of dinner for four at EVOO and I also organized a 17 person private dinner this week at EVOO. This restaurant is by far one of the finest in the area with an ambiance that lends itself to conversation at the table (hard to find!). The cuisine is always a pleasant surprise and of the freshest, local quality. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI was pleasantly surprisedI was pleasantly surprised how quietthe restaurant was after experiencing its former location.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed our visit.Really enjoyed our visit. Waitstaff were helpful and unobtrusive, Food portions were generous.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOnce again a great dinner.Great! Food is always good. I have been going for over ten years and I am never disappointed. The menu is very creative, with a lot of ingredients I have never tried, which I love.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and great food.Great service and great food. Carrot-coconut soup with chicken-ginger meatballs was fantastic, as was the beef empanada. My husband got the bolognese, which is my usual go-to on any menu, but I didn't even try it because I was so enamored with the Chinese Box - mustard-glazed shrimp, kind of a funky slaw, some kind of yummy beef, and brown rice, served in an inverted Chinese take-out box which the waiter took away. Had enough of that left over for dinner the next night. We won't be regulars because it is pretty expensive...appetizers are $11 each and mains are $26 (there is a fixed price menu that includes dessert for $42). We will be back, though - we both loved it.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful meal duringWe had a wonderful meal during restaurant week. The smoked rabbit confit salad was incredible. I'd never tried rabbit before. My boyfriend ordered the lamb bolognese - the spaghetti was perfectly al dente. The desserts - apple crumble and chocolate banana bread - were generous and delicious.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, even better food!Restaurant Week did not fail to please, with EVOO at the helm of participating Cambridge eateries. Service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. Notable highlights included the Rabbit Confit appetizer, as well as the perfectly cooked Artic Char entree. For those chocolate lovers, the Molten Truffle Cake is the only choice for dessert, and be sure to check out the cocktail list too :)3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWent with a group of friendsWent with a group of friends for Restaurant Week. Portions were more than generous and everything tasted delicious with excellent flavors and combinations. We barely had room for dessert. Service was decent though waited a bit for our waitor to drop by when needing things. Would go back again.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was imaginative andThe food was imaginative and excellent. The service was perfect. The noise level was rather high.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Eats! For starters I had the Sunchoke Salad and my wife had the Goat Cheesecake with Beats. She got the better of the deal, mine was a salad but her's was WONDERFUL.
For dinner I got the Chinese Box, she got the Chicken with Polenta. I was 100% satisfied with my choice.
Dessert, I had the cheese plate (very good) and my wife had the Apple Crisp with Salted Caramel Ice Cream (very-very good).3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW....enough said!It was restaurant week, and the value at EVOO was outstanding! Everything from the bread and starters, to the main courses and desserts were superb! I thought that since it was restaurant week, the servings would be "adjusted" to be more in line with the prices, but not here! The value we received was amazing, and was more food than I would have ever expected for the price.....and delicious food at that! Our waitress was great! She was attentive, friendly and did not leave us wanting. This was our first time at EVOO, and I would, without a doubt, highly recommend this lovely place to anyone looking for a fabulous dinner out! We will certainly be back! Thank you, EVOO, for making this an incredible first time experience!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a date. InterestingGreat place for a date. The wait staff is pleasant and happy to cater to all your requests. The Manager lady was very kind to personally endorse our parking ticket for a reduced fee and accompany us to the elevators to get back to the garage.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI had to look past its overlyI had to look past its overly trendy name (and that of its adjoining sister restaruant: 'Za), but the food was great. Creative dishes blending multiple cultures into the New American style. For locovores and socially conscious diners, their sources are listed right on the menu. Sure, a couple items came from farther away, but it's hard to argue that South Carolina isn't the place to go for organic grits.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSome very interesting options! Some very interesting options! Food is very good if you order the right things, so be sure to ask for tips from the staff.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time visitingThis was my first time visiting EVOO. Restaurant Week is a great time to check it out, but even throughout the year the prices are very reasonable. Something else I like about this place is, no matter how crowded it gets, the noise level always allows us to have quality conversations without raising our voices.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMHave heard all positive thingsHave heard all positive things about EVOO so I took my foodie24 yo daughter and left completely satisfied. Will recommend it for sure!

Declined dessert but casually mentioned to the waiter that IF creme bruele was on the menu we would have jumped. Two minutes later he returned and casually mentioned that if we were still so inclined he could get some from next door. We were and he did. Highly recommend.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExtra Good EVOOEVOO is one of the many outstanding restaurants in Cambridge, MA. There is a great deal of competition in the immediate vicinity as well, but EVOO always is busy, hopping and exciting.
Regarding the meals, they are always excellent if not at times unusual. The menu is not extensive but there is something for everyone.
The meal I chose was a coffee-rubbed steak. I am uncertain whether the coffee-rub actual was worth rubbing. It makes the steak sweet and the exterior is not crispy. I have tried coffee-rubbed meats before and never quite understand what its purpose is and why one would find it better than say a cajun-rubbed, pan-seared, crispy steak. The meat itself was wonderful; the appetizers and desserts fantastic. That's EVOO3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh ingredients anddelicious menuThe constantly changing fresh ingredients and unusual dishes make this a place I love returning to as often as possible.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
