EverestAlthough pricey, it's a greatAlthough pricey, it's a great place for a special occasion. We celebrated a milestone anniversary, but have dined there before. Was a little dismayed, however, to see that the menu set-up had changed. They decided to offer only set choices at a set price instead of pricing each item separately - seemed to make it a little more expensive than before. Otherwise, a really special evening.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded expectations. TheExceeded expectations. The food and ambience were outstanding. Our dinner there was truly a memorable evening.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMJim75Outstanding in all aspects of a truly wonderful dining experience. I definately would highly recommend Everest to friends and business associates.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTo be experienced!Attentive but not intrusive, good pace - not rushed. Recommend tasting menu with wines. Lovely!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinnerEverest is a superb example of what fine dining should be. Staff, ambiance, great scenic view and food just the best I've ever had. Very pricey but worth it for a special occasion. We'll be back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat job. One if the bestGreat job. Expensive but very good4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIt had been several yearsIt had been several years since my last visit to Everest but I wont wait so long next time. Everything was spot on last evening from the food to the service. Well done.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful for couple.I did proposed here.
It was wonderful time to me and it was the most memorable moment to me.
They helped me a lot. They are so kind and good.
I really recommend here for couple or special anniversary.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA visit from Chef J was unexpectedA visit from Chef J was unexpected but really impressed us. The portions in the Degustation Menu are perfect and the wine list is unending and would take several visits to really study what is on it.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the bestIt has been awhile since my last visit to Everest and wished I hadn't waited so long. Truly a special experience- beautiful atmosphere, superb service, and the best dining in the city. Chef Joho continues to prove he's among the worldwide elite!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an issue with readingHad an issue with reading the menu and waitstaff though attentive were unable to explain menu and items clearly and concisely. For this reason Im hesitant to recommend this experience kw4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect food, perfect service.Perfect food, perfect service. We keep going back- the only fault is no matter how often we go, it seems we cannot get a widow seat. Not sure what the secret is!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSublime foodWe flew to Chicago for a long weekend and this was the highlight. We did the tasting menu and each course was excellent. The food was superbly prepared and served. It was honestly one of the best meals I have had. All of the staff worked together to make every thing seem perfect. I will be back next time in Chicago.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMParis Comes To ChicagoAmericans frustrated about sampling more traditional French cuisine in Paris, given current trends, would not be disappointed by Everest. My wife and I enjoyed a nearly three hour dinner entranced by a view from the 40th floor that covered much of western Chicago and beyond. It was the food, wine and superb service that proved even more entrancing. The traditional Alsatian favorites are still very much front and center but do not shy away from any of the other dishes, particularly seafood. The breads and deserts made it even easier to envision a night in Paris. Our paired wines were superb and for those hoping to find fine French cuisine in Chicago this is a must. Chicago is lucky that Everest's French chef found his way to town.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb, Extraordinarily expensiveWhat an unbelievable experience. This is certainly the place for a VERY special occasion. Everything was superb but of course the cost is also extraordinary.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Ideal BalanceThe food was outstandingly good in a straightforward classical style, with a few contemporary touches. The service was attentive but not obtrusive. highly recommended.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEverestThe service was solicitous yet unobtrusive.
The food was delicious and creative, and we loved the small bite plates of goodies that linked one course to the next.
The atmosphere was elegant and low-key, warm, private, and friendly.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Alsatian DiningFood was fantastic - much better than Les Nomades for traditional French fine dining. I was surprised at how empty the restaurant was on a Saturday night, but the meal was superb. We went for a four course prix-fixe with two starters (oysters and signature buttered lobster), an entree (duck breast with turnips) and a chocolate souffle for dessert. I had a vintage Dom Perignon champagne that paired very well with all of my food.
My only quibble is that we didn't really have a view since we were seated very far inside, nowhere near the windows. Oh, and the bread was disappointing. The bread service at restaurants like Grace, L2O and Sixteen is much superior.
I did like how tucked away the restaurant is. Gives it an aura of mystery.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOften restaurants with magnificentOften restaurants with magnificent views dissappoint with their food but with Everest it's a perfect match!!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Small portions.Excellent food. Small portions. VERY expensive. I would only recommend for a VERY special occasion. Lobster appetizer, duck, and banana desserts were the favorites of the night.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMJust an outstanding experience.Just an outstanding experience. Can't wait to go back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA little secret.Beautiful restaurant tucked away atop a very private and very secure building in downtown Chicago. You have to know where you're going. Only real difficulty was finding a cab after dinner. On a side street. Not well traveled. Would be nice if they provided a call service. Nonetheless restaurant was elegant and small. Excellent food. Beautifully presented. Pleasant and knowledgeable waitstaff. Breathtaking view if you are fortunate to have a window table which we were. Pricey. But overall a wonderful dining experience.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverest will not disappointEverest will not disappoint for a special occassion.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply an outstanding fisrtSimply an outstanding fisrt class restaurant..... best in Chicago/one of best in US. Old school elegance & quality in fantastic setting.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food. Very goodVery good food. Very good service. Very expensive. If you go, be sure to request a table by a window - we were stuffed into a corner which had no view of the city.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful dining experience!A wonderful dining experience! OMG!!! What more can be said other than outstanding in every aspect!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had one of the set menusWe had one of the set menus and enjoyed two starters and a main dish but no sweets - too full at that stage! However complimentary candies were offered with coffee. All dishes were exceptionally tasty and well presented. The venue was convienienly situated close to the Loop train station. The view from the 40th floor was good and the decor was simple and relaxing with works of art on the tables. The ratio of staff to number of tables was high which enabled excellent service throughout the meal.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated my husband'sWe celebrated my husband's 50th birthday with some friends. Our train was late coming into the city due to a pedestrian accident and we were about 45 minutes late. We called ahead to let them know what was happening and the staff could not have been nicer. They kept tabs on the train delay and welcomed our friends into the restaurant while they waited for us. Dinner was superb and the wine list was extensive. We had a wonderful time and we feel it was in large part due to the staff. We hope to return!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding experienceHusband made the reservation for my birthday. We had the tasting menu and daughter also had the roasted maine lobster. First, the amuse bouche was excellent. Best butternut squash soup I have EVER had. Everything in the tasting menu, except the venison, was great. The venison course was not bad, but not outstanding either, compared to others that evening. I have eaten venison at fine dining establishment even before I was in my teens--and I love venison. so this doesn't impress me. The lobster was impressive, and I can see why it is the chef's famous dish. But what I find absolutely memorable that night was the "Elderberry and Champagne Gelee, Winter tangerine". Staffs were excellent, and the sommelier's recommendation was SPOT ON!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated my wife's 60thWe celebrated my wife's 60th birthday and it was a very memorable event. We consider ourselves moderately demanding and there isn't one thing we would have changed about the experience.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMStill a gorgeous restaurant,Still a gorgeous restaurant, perfectly cooked and presented food with a sparkling view of the city.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMEverest is a gem of a restaurant.Everest is a gem of a restaurant. But calling it a restaurant is not sufficient, it is a beautiful experience for the senses. The staff is one of the finest in the city, the chef and kitchen do not miss on anything, the room and view has few to compare to. We have dined here off and on for years, the restaurant blends its exemplary past with keeping pace with the present. There is nothing staid, stuffy or out of date. Instead Everest only demonstrates the finest care for its patrons and in its preparation of the restaurant's cuisine.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is absolutely amazing! The food is absolutely amazing! Best venison I've ever had. Great wine list.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pricey, but good forVery pricey, but good for that special date. Went there for our 15th anniversary and then our 25th this past time. Try to make reservations in advance to get a window seat. We had such the first time, and this time we were tucked away in a corner with no view, hence the lower score on ambience.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection!Out for a birthday celebration and had booked another $$$$ restaurant and was only given a choice of tables next to the door (freezing with door constantly opening/closing) and dealing with a rude manager who told us we were missing out if we left. Within minutes we booked Everest and glad they could accommodate (restaurant was actually busier than the first). It was a meal to remember... Every dish superb, wine selected for us excellent, staff personable and very knowledge, we all felt special. Hadn't been in years and definitely our new go to place for special occassions. Worth every $$$$.1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is really an old fashionIt is really an old fashion French restaurant with a wonderful view.12/7/2012 12:00:00 AMTo make this a really memorableTo make this a really memorable experience request window table, our seating was by the kitchen which is least favorable .however, we were able to spend time with the Chef which off set the location.. We focused on several different appetizers and WOW all were outstanding and we are still thinking about them .The selected wines by the glass paired well with different courses. Special Evening put this restaurant on your don't miss list11/17/2012 12:00:00 AM
