  • "We chose the Everest because of its myriad rave reviews. The view, several stories above the city, is fantastic but call ahead and see if you can finagle a window table. There are only 4 (we didn't get so lucky and that was a disappointment). The staff is pleasant, efficient, polished and know their craft. They cant- as does the overall atmosphere- to the "formal-at-the-expense-of-warmth". The food was superbly prepared, beautifully presented and nicely apportioned. What it lacked in creativity, bravery or 'edge', it provided in solid, dependable fare. I was sorry that my mother & grandmother- were not with us, as the decor and 'energy' of Everest would have made them feel right at home. All in all, delightful, and well worth the climb!"

  • "Had an excellent dinner at Everest last week. Too bad it was a cloudy evening, because the view would normally be spectacular. I had the multicourse dinner, which was two starters, the entre and a dessert, for $120.00. I really think that is a reasonable price, given the quality of the food. The degustion menu just looked like too much food. I have to say the portions were on the large side, for this type of restaurant. My two starters were the smoked salmon and soft shell crab. Delicious!! My entre was was the Dover sole, again, excellent. Kuegel Hof for desert. Terrific wine list. The service was good, all the wait staff were very friendly. Getting to the restaurant involves multiple elevators, name on checklist. Fort Knox??"

  • "We had a 5:45 reservation and 8 PM theater tickets a few blocks away. Our server said "Oh, so you are in a bit of a rush - I might suggest the three course Theatre Menu then." I must have looked at her askance, but she was right. That's the way it is at Everest. I imagine that the 7 course tasting menu would take the entire evening. But what an evening that must be - the dishes were all delicious and artfully prepared. The service was attentive, the wine sommelier knowledgable, and the prices as high as the 40th floor view of the city - but worth every penny. My only nit to pick is that they didn't seat us by the window despite there being tables open there - of course we didn't request it either."

  • "Don't go here expecting a reasonably priced meal. Wine and dinner for two - $375. We had a one of the cheapest bottles on the wine list and it was $75 a bottle. One could spend $400 or more in a bottle of wine here and I just can't imagine anyone getting $400 of pleasure out of a bottle of wine, but perhaps if you're made of money and you just need to shed the dollars, this is the place to go."

  • "We were here years ago and the food if anything has gotten even better! The staff bent over backwards to make sure that everything was wonderful. It should also be noted that this is a wonderful place for those who eat less because of age because one of the choices is to have only 3 courses. Bravo!"

  • "So thought I would be coming back after a wonderful meal and excellent service by waiter. But the end of the evening completely ruined our experience there. We had an early 5pm reservation so we could catch a show at 7:30. They opened 15 min late. We made it clear that we wanted a taxi waiting at 7pm. Long story short, their preferred taxi service was a no show, it started to pour rain and it wasn't easy to find a free cab. We ended up finally getting a cab at 7:25pm, missed our show. Their planning after dinner was unreliable and ruined my wife's bday night out. Absolutely never going back and will tell all business associates and friends that Everest is a great place to ruin an evening."

  • "After been gone for sometime from the Chicagoland area, it was wonderful to visit again one of the best eating establishments in all of Chicago. The Everest knows how to take care of their customers at every level, from the initial greeting thru the various dinner courses to the final good-bye. I would highly recommend this as a place that needs to be on everyone's bucket list. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!"

  • "This restaurant is amazing. We were treated like royalty from the moment we walked in. I appreciated the quiet elegance and the food was fantastic and so well prepared. Our servers paid attention to every detail without interrupting. I will go back there and bring my husband. This is a restaurant for people who enjoy fine dining and ambience. I would not want anyone to bring children. It is an adult dining experience!"

  • "We were in Chicago celebrating my birthday...looking for a classic french restaurant. Everest is elegant, the cuisine better than excellent. The executive chef was most gracious to us as he stopped at our table to discuss our menu selection and wine. Valerie, our waiter, was extremely knowledgeable about menu details and, with Jennifer acting as sommelier, we could not have asked for a more pleasant experience."

  • "Caveat on the front end, we are foodies. This was the best meal and dining experience we've had in I don't know how many years. We're not quite sure how we missed it. Food, service, ambiance was the quality of Michelin 3 star. Every service, every detail for the four of us was perfect from the starters, entrees to deserts. Great wine list to boot. The service was impeccable, absolutely flawless and while the feel of the restaurant was a little buttoned down, our family group managed to laugh and have a great time without feeling the slightest bit uncomfortable. Really wonderful but be clear, it's a bull market experience. This said, it's now on our go to list for special occasions."

Only disappointments were that our lead server was stiff as a board in style and not particularly informative about the food. Usually at places like Everest the food choices come with some background and then presentation, we felt a bit rushed."

  • "If you have very good food and a fantastic wine list, coupled with a very nice room and a great view, it would be great if you could get the other things right too. Both of our courses were brought to the table the wrong way around and, despite the server repeating our food selections, the wrong entree was brought. In addition NOBODY spoke to us at all for fully ten minutes after we were seated. They also decanted my quite expensive bottle of Brunello away from the table and out of my sight which I consider a no-no."

  • "The service was top-notch at this restaurant, from being greeted to leaving the restaurant. The Staff was very genuine and knowledgeable about all of their products. The food was incredible, some beyond words. If you are looking for high-end quality when it comes to food and service, Everest is your restaurant. The restaurant even acknowledged my notes from online indicating the dinner was for a 'birthday celebration.' I have not had any restaurant actually acknowledge the notes I place when performing a reservation online."

  • "Three of us get together twice a year during professional meetings. Our dining criteria involves finding the best restaurant we can on the one evening we can dine. While in Chicago we chose Everest and were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautiful, very romantic and the view is fantastic. We got to watch a thunderstorm roll in - awesome!. We all got the 3 course meal which was a starter, a main dish, and dessert. The wine list is extensive and a little pricey. The sommelier worked with us to find a good bottle within price range. Two of us started with broiled lobster and then had sole. Another got halibut. All were lovely to view and delicious. Desserts were yummy and the service was exquisite! Impeccable!"

  • "Maybe I had too much expectations for a Relais et Chateaux restaurant, but we were really disappointed and I don't feel it is worth the price. We had the degustation menu with a wine pairing. One wine pairing for two was more than enough for us. The lobster and the foie gras and the assorted wines were fantastic. The 2 main courses (haddock and magret de canard) tasted too much alike, and I didn't like them that much. The red wine was ok but not excellent. The camembert from Maine had nothing special but it didn't taste like camembert (but maybe it's because I'm used to french camembert). The desert and the assorted wine were really great. The service was ok but not to the level I would expect it to be for a very nice restaurant."

  • "Forget Paris. Dine at Everest and you are transported to the pinnacle of French dining. The service, timing, and attention to detail are phenomenal. We loved the decor, the cuisine, the extra amuse bouches. Everest is such a special treat for any occasion. It is truly a dining experience. We LOVE Everest. You feel so well taken care of at Everest. I do recommend you try the lobster and foie gras preludes. They are heavenly dishes. The venison with the huckleberry sauce was so savory. The beignets and passion fruit soufflé was divine. They serve their own blend of Intelligentsia Coffee which is fabulous."

We love the special dishes that come at a top notch French restaurant as their amuse busche and the triple dessert surprises.   • "We were there celebrating a special occasion. We had the tasting menu and it was one of the best we've ever had. Every course was done to perfection. Their wine selection is fantastic. We've done some of the newer high end places most recently in Los Angeles and started to think we're just not "tasting menu" people. Thank you Everest for restoring our delight in a great night of great food and drink. We did not do the wine pairings, but the cocktails and two bottles of fantastic french reds were wonderful. We all said we'd be back and recommend it highly to friends who truly love fine dining."
