Diner Reviews
  • "Dining at Europa is akin to dining in a beautiful, intimate aristocratic home in the Loire Valley. It is tucked inside the Villa Royale hotel and though we have a home less than 5 minutes away, we had never dined their. When my wife and I arrived, we were greeted warmly and we were seated a few feet from the harpist who was mesmerizing. The wait staff were perfect and the selections of salad, escargot in a puff pastry with flecks of goat cheese, and a duck sausage flatbread were remarkable. I had told the waiter that we had wonderful memories of staying at the hotel, and he brought us a delicious flour less chocolate cake with ice cream. A lovely touch! This is categorically one of the best restaurants in the desert if not California."

  • "Truly a hidden treasure. If you are looking for a romantic setting it would be hard to beat this place. We were really fortunate to hit a really quiet evening. The service was beyond compare, The waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, the history of the restaurant and had a great sense of humor. The harpist put the experience over the top. I could not say enough about this wonderful find. I think this is my new all time favorite. The food was perfectly prepared and delicious with really unique flavors and preparations. It is nice to still have a restaurant where you can dress up and feel special. This restaurant is not cheap, but worth every penny we paid."

  • "A gem of a find that has great ambience; knowledgeable and professional waitstaff (Sierra) and a special touch by the executive chef. The food choices are plentiful as the menu was recently changed; with each meal something special. This is a restaurant that deserves a more upscale location as it is off the beaten-track. Nonetheless it is a special treat for those that find it."

  • "I was disappointed with the braised short ribs in that they were a bit chewy instead of fork tender. While the food is generally good, it's not exceptional."

  • "One of the best hidden gems in the Desert is Europa. We've eaten there several times over the years, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful, the bar is about as quaint as it gets, and the restaurant and the ambience is superb. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food was marvelous. Do yourself a favor and take your better half out to a wonderful evening at Europa."

  • "We were looking for casual elegance, excellent food, a good wine list, and an atmosphere that would permit quiet conversation for a dining couple. The service was attentive and friendly. The Osso Buco was a generous portion and falling-off-the-bone tasty, a house specialty. The grounds and dining spaces were comfortably charming and felt secluded and romantic. The harpist provided just the right touch of music. The experience, indeed, reminded us of many experiences in Europe. On Open Table, I had requested a quiet table to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hostess not only noted my request when she greeted us, she satisfied it, and the waiter later delivered a complimentary dessert. Now we are looking forward to returning."

  • "I can't praise this restaurant enough. My husband and I split the crab cakes which were divine. I had the mushroom risotto which was excellent. My husband had the pan seared chicken supreme which was excellent as well. Service was impeccable and the ambience was just lovely. I only wish some of the other patrons respected the restaurant with proper attire."

  • "We don't live in the area but when we are in Palm Springs area, this is one of the restaurants we tried to stop by. This was our 3rd time over the last 15 years so not very frequent visits but food has been always very good."

  • "We've been to just about all the fine dining restaurants in the valley. Europa is the most romantic."

  • "It is too dark that they have to bring out lights for the menu - but that means you cannot see your food to cut it."

  • "Europa is not only the best restaurant in Palm Springs it's one of the finest experiences I've ever had. Set in a beautiful spot close to town with a lovely European ambiance I just can't say enough about it. The staff was amazing the food elegant and delicious. You can't miss this if you're in the area."

  • "Who would've thought this cute little Mediterranean style restaurant was on this little side street? Lovely romantic atmosphere. Our waiter was excellent (Jeremy?). I had salmon over sautéed spinach; deliciousb and not over cooked. My husband had pork osso bucco and was a healthy tender portion. A bit pricey but will definitely go back. Interesting history to this inn too. Sonja Hening owned it!"

  • "A great old world feel restaurant. Restaurant area was too compartmentalized. Food avearage. Too pricey for the quality. I think the place is overrated. Otherwise worth the experience."

  • "I was in Palm Springs for a conference and short holiday with my wife. A friend liked the write-ups and booked for five. We were treated to a wonderful evening and we all had excellent meals. Our waiter was Jeremy whose descriptions of what was on the menu were detailed and had us salivating. We were not disappointed. Three nights later we went back on our own. Of the half dozen restaurants we went to in the area, this was by far the best in every respect. Quiet quality."

  • "This is an unusually pretty place, consisting of several rooms charmingly set at angles to one another. The decor is traditional, largely European, but with some Chinese elements that actually blend in harmoniously. Our waitress was friendly, but maintained a professional attitude, as she should have. My pork shank was deliciously tender, and my wife enjoyed greatly her duck. I just wish I had discovered Europa earlier. Happily, we have a home not far away and can return often."

  • "Europa is a charming restaurant with a well-trained wait staff. The kitchen works efficiently and there were no long waits between courses. The dishes we chose were well prepared and very tasty. I had the Drunken Shrimp. Shrimp can be a test of the kitchen because they are so easily overcooked. These were done just right and they were large, plump, and generous in number. The chef may not be cutting edge, but the dishes he presents are done right. I would return just for the flat bread appetizer and the lovely atmosphere."

  • "Ownership must have changed. For years one of yah great places in Palm Springs. Food portions very small, very expensive. Ambience still awesome"

  • "First time to Europa for Brunch... Met at the entrance by Nancy with a welcoming smile and tour... and would highly recommend. Took two friends that had never been to Europa, and they were very very impressed. I really liked that you could enjoy the Breakfast or Lunch options, or the bottomless champagne or bloody mary options.. you pick. We sat outside by the fireplace and gently trickling water fountain.... lovely outdoor scene. A new favorite pick for Sunday relaxation and awesome cuisine.... for a more casual experience at the Europa.. drop in to the bar... meet Kathy and Gilbert.. behind the bar... a real Palm Springs team."

  • "This was our Valentine's day pick for a "fancy-dress-up-dinner" during our Valentine's getaway. This is a great little spot nestled in one of the neighborhoods. The location really does feel like you are in Tuscany or some other European fantasy location. The staff was extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and above all else laid back. The whole place prides itself on taking things a bit slower and really enjoying the food and/or drinks and most of all, your company! They really create a relaxed enjoyable environment. And speaking of the food, I got the steak and my fiance picked the risotto, both of which were phenomenal! So, if you want to go out for a romantic dinner in Palm Springs this place should be at the top of your list."

  • "Wonderful ambience in this old resort with terrific food. President's Day weekend they limited the number of diners, so there were open tables around us, but served more than they usually serve on weekend nights. The result was that they ran out of several dishes by our 7:30 pm reservation. The short ribs entre was sold out, so I ordered the pork osso bucco, and it was not heated all the way through. But the preceeding Caesar Salad was stupendous, as was desert. Just a slight bobble on a usually great restaurant."

  • "We took friends to celebrate their anniversary and had a wonderful time. Erin, who took care of us, was fabulous. Extremely knowledgeable and efficient. The food was amazing.....our guests ordered the white fish and short ribs and we had the white fish also, as well as the rack of lamb which was delicious. We will definitely come back to this GEM of the desert!!!"

  • "Our entire dinner experience was over 3 hrs long. It was 1 full hour before we received our 1st cocktail. This unusual slow pace continued. It would have been helpful to know this up front. That said, our server Sierra was exceptional and probably could of used more help in the adjacent private room. The food is outstanding but know this ahead of time of a serious lag in between courses."

  • "I would strongly recommend this restaurant for a romantic or special event. It is small, gorgeous, and the food was incredible. If it is warm, eat on one of the patios but otherwise enjoy a nice table by the fireplace. Everything we ordered was prepared wonderfully and tasted great."

  • "This quaint restaurant located in the Villa Royale Boutique Hotel is a real find. The menu, though not overly extensive (or creative), offers some nice interpretations of a number of traditional continental dishes. The service was friendly and efficient. There was an excellent harpist playing in the dining room. The wine list had plenty of nice selections at moderate prices. We will definitely try Europa again."

  • "The welcoming and waiting was a bit tedious but the food was great. No complaints about the shrimp appetizer and boeuf Bourgignon (main course) my wife had; no complaint about my mushroom soup - actually, outstanding. My risotto was heavy on salt; I hesitated to return it. Merlot (Sonoma) and Pinot Grigiot (Italy) by the glass were fine and moderately priced. It's a cosy place, fine to eat out and to talk with friends as the noise level is low."

  • "In a nutshell: one of the BEST restaurants in Palm Springs. Jeremy, our server, was also fantastic. Read the reviews on Open Table and did not disappoint. Make sure this one is on your list. We are foodies and have eaten in many restaurants in the area. So happy we finally tried this one!"
