A word from Eulogy Belgian Tavern
Eulogy Belgian Tavern is Philadelphia's Premier Beer & Dining Institution featuring 21 drafts & 300 different bottled beers. The food is award winning & noted for plump, juicy mussels in a variety of beer & other sauces, as well as the city's best hamburger made with seven secret spices & the only authentic double fried Flemish Belgian style fries found in Philadelphia. The restaurant is owned by a Belgian American family from Brugge Belgium & staffed with a few employees on visas from Belgium, two other attributes which make this the authentic Belgian experience.

Rated as the fifth best beer restaurant in the United States by ratebeer.com & winner of numerous awards on citysearch.com with friendly & knowledgeable staff, Eulogy Belgian Tavern is a dining experience you must see to believe.
For the more adventurous call for a seat in the "coffin room", a small room in the back of the second floor where the three tables are coffins. In high demand so call early.

Diner Reviews
  • "I was seated upstairs. When I sat down, I felt something wet on my hand. Looking at my hand, there was wet lint and dust on it. That was enough to decide we would not return here. The food was pedestrian, not awful but not nearly good enough to get me back."

  • "As a non-beer drinker, I can't appreciate the breadth of the choice of Belgian and other beers. I am sure that if I drank beer this place would be a Mecca. I was able to enjoy the delicious food - mussels for me and steak frites for the husband. Portions were high quality and plentiful Service was friendly. The atmosphere was a little dive bar-y, but the place was packed and buzzing (we were upstairs). My husband has put this place on his pub crawl list for visitors."

  • "Eulogy is our favorite place for beer! So many awesome choices! Food is very good too. We had duck, fish and chips, and grilled cheese sandwich and all were very tasty."

  • "Went to Eulogy to watch the Belgium / Russia World Cup game. Pretty cool looking bar, sat upstairs. Love the decor, reminded me of a few of the bars on South St (Tattooed Mom comes to mind). The food menu is 2-3 pages and the beer menu is probably double that! Food - the fries with the bourbon sauce are a must! Also the shrimp was AWESOME (and not just awesome for a bar but for anyplace). Beer - give the dirty ho a try... you will not be sorry. If you are NOT a lightweight and can handle heavier beers try the busty blonde."

  • "We got fish and chips. It was so saturated and dripping in oil that I, who am NOT picky and will eat almost anything, could not finish it. Disgusting."

  • "Amazing beer list! Good food, excellent service. If you can't find a beer you like here, you must not like beer!"

  • "The food used to be really good and it was blah for the price. The hostess was a complete b*$% and wouldn't seat us because she said she had two reservations coming in (5:30 pm on a Sat night) and wouldn't let me make a reservation even though there were about four open tables. I think she was just stereotyping because we were younger and dressed down. I went online and made a reservation for 5:45 pm and she still hemmed and hawed about seating us. I did nothing wrong and she was certainly not nice. I had gone here a few times in past years and it was excellent. The upstairs used to look much nicer too. It has certainly lost its charm :("

  • "Packed but good service---got seated right away. Great beer selection."

  • "Heard a lot about this place from friends so we decided to try it and man - we weren't disappointed. The Beer list is huge!!!! Got to try a few I've never had and the food was awesome!!! Mussels, sausage and potatoes??? Yes please!!! So so good. Also the steak topped with tomato and cheese? Yum! Our waitress was awesome and attentive and though we were about 20 minutes early they were able to seat us. That's great service right there. We will definitely be back!!!!!"

  • "Went to Eulogy for my first time during beer week. Fantastic beer selection, which I'm sure is the case also outside of beer week. Staff was very friendly and attentive, too. We tried several beers and also got mussels, salad, and fries for dinner. I'd give the mussels a 7 out of 10. The broth was great, it's just hard to pull off fantastic mussels if you're not right there at the source. Its ambiance is very cozy and as such may be more fitting to the winter season, but I still enjoyed going there on a warm day."

  • "Or drink a lot before eating. Menu limited (small) and food is just so-so. But the beer selection is terrific. So this is not a warning to keep you away from the place - just to let you know to expect great things from the taps and not much from the kitchen."

  • "Eulogy is one of my favorite spots to grab a beer and some food at the bar. The Dijon mussels never disappoint and the beer selection is top notch. Don't forget to grab some pommes frites while you are there."

  • "We reserved a table for 10 at 830pm & everything was ready for us when we arrived. It was a loud & busy Saturday night but our waitress was great, knowledgeable about both the food & the beer selection (which is immense). Everything was delicious. Mussels Dijon were the favorite over the beer mussels. We even had dessert- waffles, cream & berries. Fantastic night!"

  • "This is the place to go if you love beer. The choices are endless! Besides the beer the food was amazing and the environment was interesting as well! I will no doubt go back to this place!"

  • "Not only does this place have an amazing selection of beer - their food is incredible! I had the seared tuna sandwich, and it was cooked perfectly. Everyone else at my table loved their food... burger, crab cake sandwich, fish and chips, crazy steak? I think... other things too! Only complaints: the server was REALLY busy, so she took a little while to take our order at the beginning (fair enough) and the table we sat at was WAY too tall for our chairs! It was pretty difficult to eat that way, so try not to sit in the back of the second floor (that's where our table was). Otherwise, great experience! I'm definitely going back :)"

  • "I had the steak frites and it was excelent very tender and the sause was great mixed with fries. The beer list was huge! The others with me got hamburgers and raved about them until much after we left. We also got the beer mussels for appetizer -- it was good but the broth could have been more flavorful. The service was prompt and not overwhelming. Overall a great time in a very lively atmosphere."

  • "I was there with a party of 9 other people. The beer orders took quite awhile from ordering to delivery. From the looks, they had the same waitress serving upstairs and down. Seemed like we were inconveniencing her by asking to take our order. Also, a 20% mandatory gratuity charge is absurd. My total bill was $109 including a $16 Grat. No way did she deserve $16 from just my bill alone. I had mine split because of a large # of shots ordered. Food and Beer selection was great, Food tasted great, but service was awful. "

  • "If you like beer, you'll love Eulogy! Hundreds of beers to choose from, and a knowledgable staff to help with your choice! They also have a small, but delicious menu to choose a meal or a few apps that go well with the beer selection."

  • "Great beer selection, but the lines seemed dirty-- everything had an off-flavor."

  • "The beer menu is awesome! The mussels and fries are the best I have had. I will go again and again!"

  • "Fantastic service--our waitress recommended the beer that I'm happily going to be drinking for the rest of my life, and comped one of my boyfriend's drinks in celebration of his birthday. We'll definitely be going back."

  • "i went 10 years ago and remembered not being wowed. I came here again and i'm still not wowed. the bread that came with the mussels, i would assume would be a nice baguette. it was more of a dry roll. i didn't touch it. the burger wasn't amazing, the french fries were not fried or crispy. very soft pieces of steak fries. beer menu was obviously terrific, but i can get beer anywhere, I could just go to the foodery and take beer home with me at a lesser cost, i wanted good food too."

  • "Waitress came by twice only, couldn't find her half the time, food menu is short and mediocre, Belgian fish and chips are not good."

  • "Great variety of beers and knowledgeable staff. All sandwiches are delicious and our go to item is the mussels/fries (you cannot go wrong with this one!)."

  • ""I love the relaxed feel of this place - like a comfortable dining room in a friends home, plus there is the coffin room. Will be returning to try additional beers! Did I state that they have over 400 beers available?! I definitely would return to try more dishes as well. The Fish and Chips were amazing. Service was well-timed and very friendly."

  • "Eulogy is a great place to enjoy yummy Belgian goodness. With over 16 Belgian beers on tap at any one time, and four pages of bottled international beers, you just can't go wrong. The short (but good) menu includes mussels prepared six ways, as well as Belgian fries with three different dipping sauces. There's also other stuff on the menu, all of it good. This is a great place to go after a day visiting the historic district, but leave the kiddies home."

  • "We have gone several times. Anywhere else we eat mussels we compare to theirs. Must order the dijon sauce. We usually get a couple orders of different flavors. Other food we have eaten is great too. Hamburgers are excellent. Very unique flavor. Can't beat the unlimited beer selections either. Prices are very reasonable for the city. Not a place to go for a romantic quiet evening. Older building, very tight seating and usually some louder crowds. Reservations a must. We will be back again and again!"

  • "Many bars come and go and Eulogy is always there for me! I love the beer list, the consistency in service and offerings. It's simply the best"

  • "Visiting Philadelphia over the weekend, our Saturday afternoon was well spent with a phenomenal beer selection and great food at this spectacular find...a MUST visit!"

  • "I dream about the dijon mussels in my sleep. They're a flavor explosion. The fries are big, crunchy and incredible, as is the sauce they come with, and they taste amazing in the dijon broth. And the beer selection is endless....the waiters are always incredibly knowledgeable about the beer and the food, very attentive, and helpful when you're trying to make your selections of food and drink. I've been here twice, and will undoubtedly be back again and again!"

  • "Dive bar, great beer menu food was okay. The duck was cooked well however the sauce over powered the meat. The fries were gross, over cooked and old which was ashame because the sauce that accompanied the fries was Delish."
    Dined on 2/9/2014
  • "I thought the atmosphere would be a little nicer, and the service a little faster, but the food was delicious and the beer selection unparalleled. I'd consider this place "no frills" so don't bother dressing up for a night out in the city."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "After an abysmal seating by the floor manager and no attention from our server for 12-13 minutes, we were dying for a beer, some water, or heck, even a menu. The beer selection saved the experience, along with some great food. However, since we had somewhere to be and the meal's introduction was slow (and the worst), we had to rush through what would have otherwise been a properly paced meal. Yet another example of a mobbed philly joint that offers great products in a poor fashion, simply because they can. The scenic view was a loud couple, seated 1 foot away, but 2 feet higher than us. Weird."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "Bottom line.....you come here for the beer not the food! Plus, the servers are friendly and knowledgeable!"

  • "We decided to visit Eulogy after hearing that it was ranked highly as a beer bar. We were not disappointed. The beer selection was great and the food was good too."

  • "A great beer selection and pretty knowledgeable staff, and a pretty good menu, though nothing really jumped out as special. Our service was a bit slow despite it being a very quiet night, but the ambiance was nice so we didn't mind waiting too much."

  • "First of all let me say Eulogy was a lot of fun and with 400+ beers available, if you are a beer person, it's great. However (and I take full responsibility for this and not reading enough about Eulogy) I thought it would be more of a restaurant. Make no mistake, it's a bar. Beers were great (I had the Busty Blonde). Energy was great - everyone was enjoying themselves (and I did too). But my husband and I (in our 50's) were definitely the oldest people there. We refer to ourselves as the "creepy old people in the bar." Food was above average bar food - fries (or should I say friettes?) were very good. Server was very busy but took good care of us. Enjoyable evening but not what we expected. Great place to hang out with friends."
