Diner Reviews
  • "We had Calamari appi and the Coconut Seafood Stew and the Baja Fried Prawns. Calamari was sublime, nice seasoning with a lick and delicious dipping sauce. Seafood stew was impressive, a giant bowl of shellfish and salmon with a very tasty Coconut curry broth, "stew" is a misnomer, it is not a heavy dish. The Baja prawns (5) were very large and butterflied, very tasty. Not being huge coconut fans, we split the coconut cream pie after reading so many wonderful reviews. It was excellent, what a difference with fresh coconut versus the usual artificial varieties. Would eat everything we had again tomorrow!"

  • "Amazing food and service! Great location in Pike Marketplace"

  • "We brought friends from out of town to Etta's for brunch last Sunday (07/27). Our service was good, as were our drinks. However, the quality and presentation of the food was an incredible let down. Two of us had the Bay Shrimp Roll - which was set down before us and we both had burnt buns (black on the top)!! The salad itself was bland - there was just nothing to it. The waffle chips were overcooked and too salty. One of us had Crab Eggs Benedict, the toast underneath was burnt to a crisp, eggs and hollandaise cold. The potatoes were not even worth eating. My cousin had the crab cake, she was glad she only ordered one. Brunch for $106, what a huge waste of money. I'd never return and would never recommend it."

  • "The portion sizes and food were excellent. The cocktails were delicious as well. Our waitress brought one of our guests the wrong dish which we gladly would have eaten anyway and she made it right by bringing the original dish too for no charge. The seafood was fresh and unique."

  • "Great meal, as expected from a Tom Douglas restaurant. Salmon and crab salad were beautifully presented and delish! Good service when we arrived but as it got busier service slowed down. Get a window table, great people watching and view!! Desert was off the chart fantastic. Coconut cream pie & chocolate mousse cake......mmmmmmm."

  • "With the exeption of a heavy hand with the paprika in the clams, the food was quite good and the service very attentive."

  • "The food was mediocre and overpriced. We ordered the salmon and crab cakes. I would not go back."

  • "Etta's is a great place to go for good food when you are not in the mood to dress up. There is outdoor seating, a full size bar with an entertaining bartender, and top quality food by Tom Douglas. We had the salmon and halibut which were both perfectly prepared. My favorite was actually the halibut. It is conveniently located near the Market; but, dinner reservations will save you a long wait."

  • "Did everything to accommodate the seating issue of my very short elderly mother. Handled it with grace. Short wait time. Excellent food and service. Thank u."

  • "Nice, but didn't quite match my expectations. The signature salmon dish is sockeye - so not nearly as delicious as king salmon would be, although the cornbread pudding is great. Good location, good service, but food not as good as I had hoped."

  • "My husband and I were in Seattle for a get away weekend and ate at Etta's for dinner our first night. WOW - the food was excellent. We started with the spinach salad which was very good. For our main entree's my husband had the seafood stew in coconut broth - it was absolutely fantastic. It was probably one of the best things we have ever had, the stew broth was great. I had the seared tuna, it was also very good, but no comparison to the stew. For dessert we had the berry shortcake - YUM! it was so fresh, and the shortcake was very moist. The custard was a great addition. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Overall a great dinner - I would highly recommend Etta's if you are in Seattle."

  • "We really enjoyed our dining experience at Etta's Seafood. Our waitress was very friendly, engaging and informative. I have a gluten allergy and was well accommodated. We both had the salmon, and agree it was the best salmon dish we had ever tasted!"

  • "Considering the reviews I was expecting much more. The fact that my server was in an obvious rush to get us in and out didn't help."

  • "We were less than ideal customers; we were meeting friends from out of town who were running late for our reservations, we had to eat rather quickly in order to make it to a Sounders game, and the Etta's staff was wonderful. Accomodating, knowledgable, food was out quick without compromise (my rubbed salmon was delicious). Very pleased, I would definitely dine here again and would recommend it - Tom Douglas has trained his people well, in my opinion."

  • "Recently had a stop in to this restaurant for the second time for brunch. I seem to recall their brunch menu being more extensive than it was - it was actually very limited. The prices were also very high for brunch with sides being ridiculously priced (two small pieces of toast were $3 - believe me, they were very small). Not sure I'd return, particularly for brunch at $20 pp once you've had a coffee, the food just wasn't of the caliber one would expect."

  • "We had one of our best eating experiences ever at Etta's. The food was beyound what we had expected and the service was exceptional. The views that our table afforded us only added to the total enjoyment of the evening. I can not recomend this resteraunt to enough of our friends when visiting Seattle."

  • "Etta's looked great empty in the afternoon, but come dinner time, it was a screamfest. What is it these days in restaurants? At least three different people in the room were not having a conversation but yelling to one another. Also, the food was tasty but the portions could keep a skinny person wanting more. Furthermore, considering the size of the portions, it took a long time for the food to come to the table. We asked for bread just to give us the impression that we had a meal. Skip right past Etta's."

  • "the food was good, but uninspired. Salmon was tasty as was the burger, but the fries were cold and greasy when then arrived. The onion soup was starchy but favorful and the sides were just ok...the green salad, had a lot of "stuff" in it, but didn't seem to hold together flavorwise."

  • "I have dined at Ettas several times over the past several years. Not at all up to standard today. Sent the salad back because it was drenched in dressing and over peppered. The scallion pancakes with the tuna sashimi were very very greasy. A friend ordered the artichoke heart salad and found it to be far too salty. Not up to Tom Douglas standards. Service, however was excellent. He replaced the salad immediately. Offered to split the bill for us and was very charming. We tipped him well."

  • "As a lover of Serious Pies, I feel that Tom Douglas (TD) has over extended himself. On sunday, we had the Salmon with the rub. It was very good. I asked for a very simple modification on my meal. Our server got it right, but the chef didn't. It had to be returned. The meal was very good. We ordered the larger/$30. portion. With TD owning a bakery, you would think they would serve bread with each meal. They charge extra. I thought this was cheap on their part. Also, the chairs were worn out at every table, exposed bare wood. There were mainly tourists there. This restaurant needs to be updated. We ate at Cuoco, the food was terrible. We will never go back there. TD needs to focus on the restaurants he owns and get back to quality."

  • "I took my foodie friends from California to Etta's because they had seen a program on Tom Douglas and wanted to try the restaurant. Already being a Douglas fan, no problem! All three of our seafood dinner meals were absolutely outstanding!! Could not have tasted better, or been prepared any more perfectly. My picky foodie friend ordered the coconut cream pie for dessert (we didn't know it was a signature dish) and she was duly impressed. Our waitress was delightful. Etta's atmosphere and decor are friendly and welcoming. Overall, a wonderful experience. My friends said it was perhaps the best fish meal they have ever had."

  • "I have lived on the Atlantic Coast and the Pacific Coast, and I've eaten a lot of crab cakes -- Etta's were the best I ever ate. A friend and I were seated at a corner booth, where we could actually hear ourselves talk without straining. Other areas of the restaurant, particularly to the right of the entrance door, looked a lot more lively, if that's your taste. I will certainly go again."

  • "For the second time my wife and I ate lunch at Etta's and once again very very pleased with the seafood stew and the fish and chips. Fod was fresh, tasty, unique and the Bloody Mary's devine. Our server was attentive, knowledable about the menu and really took care of us. We highly recommend Etta's."

  • "We had the best waitress who had us drooling with her descriptions. She was attentive and very helpful. You could tell she loves where she works and the clients as well. Everyone liked their meal. The birthday girl finished off both crab cakes which were exceptional she said. I had the best halibut I have ever eaten. It was succulent in a light fresh vegetable sauce bed, with a thin crisp coat. Fabulous!"

  • "Second Tom D restaurant and disappointed. Steamed clams and "Love rubbed" salmon were good - but not great. Fish Fry was a salt bomb. Place was filthy - floor, tables and I won't tell you what the washrooms were like. No refill on my water. "someone name" retirement cocktail was delicious."

  • "Went there with my girlfriend for a special dinner, couldn't have had a better time. She was cold because she was dressed up and they brought her a blanket. The waitress was incredible, very nicely chatty and had great recommendations for our meals. Probably will come back next year."

  • "The food at Etta's was outstanding. The salmon was recommended and it was delicious. The spinach salad was amazing. My only complaint was that there was a very small selection of wines sold by the glass. I was concerned about parking, but after 6:00 we had no problem finding a place to park right on the street near the restaurant."

  • "Went for our 25th wedding anniversary. We waited for a table outside and it was very pleasant. However the table itself was so sticky that a piece of paper I had sitting on the corner was stuck to it when we left. The pasta dish we had was overcooked and bland. We ordered the added crab for a treat. When the dish first came out, there was no crab. The waiter returned it to get the crab. The crab itself added absolutely nothing to the dish except $10. The tuna dish was good. The sides (asparagus and cornbread pudding) were excellent. Nice selection of wine by the glass. The service was good. The espresso was good. However, I expected better food and will not go there again. But the company was wonderful."

  • "We recently took some out-of-town visitors to Etta's and had a great lunch. Although it's a popular spot, we didn't feel any pressure to eat and run. Service was very professional, and the food was delicious. If you are looking for someplace good to eat near the Market, Etta's is a very good choice."

  • "From the warm welcome, to the fabulous dessert, Etta's offered an exceptional dining experience. The fresh fish was outstanding and cooked to perfection; so nice to have a chef that brings out the fresh flavors, versus burying them in sauces. The calamari was the best I've ever had and I highly recommend the coconut cream pie. Not too noisy to have a pleasant conversation, but very vibrant at the same time! Will definitely return."
