Diner Reviews
  • "Etta's looked great empty in the afternoon, but come dinner time, it was a screamfest. What is it these days in restaurants? At least three different people in the room were not having a conversation but yelling to one another. Also, the food was tasty but the portions could keep a skinny person wanting more. Furthermore, considering the size of the portions, it took a long time for the food to come to the table. We asked for bread just to give us the impression that we had a meal. Skip right past Etta's."

  • "I have dined at Ettas several times over the past several years. Not at all up to standard today. Sent the salad back because it was drenched in dressing and over peppered. The scallion pancakes with the tuna sashimi were very very greasy. A friend ordered the artichoke heart salad and found it to be far too salty. Not up to Tom Douglas standards. Service, however was excellent. He replaced the salad immediately. Offered to split the bill for us and was very charming. We tipped him well."

  • "I took my foodie friends from California to Etta's because they had seen a program on Tom Douglas and wanted to try the restaurant. Already being a Douglas fan, no problem! All three of our seafood dinner meals were absolutely outstanding!! Could not have tasted better, or been prepared any more perfectly. My picky foodie friend ordered the coconut cream pie for dessert (we didn't know it was a signature dish) and she was duly impressed. Our waitress was delightful. Etta's atmosphere and decor are friendly and welcoming. Overall, a wonderful experience. My friends said it was perhaps the best fish meal they have ever had."

  • "the food was good, but uninspired. Salmon was tasty as was the burger, but the fries were cold and greasy when then arrived. The onion soup was starchy but favorful and the sides were just ok...the green salad, had a lot of "stuff" in it, but didn't seem to hold together flavorwise."

  • "Great brunch, great food and I can't say enough abut the wait staff - they do a great job and cater to your needs and wants. If you want a good value, great view and great food - this is the place in Seattle."

  • "Service was not great & the food was very very good which made up for it"

  • "As a lover of Serious Pies, I feel that Tom Douglas (TD) has over extended himself. On sunday, we had the Salmon with the rub. It was very good. I asked for a very simple modification on my meal. Our server got it right, but the chef didn't. It had to be returned. The meal was very good. We ordered the larger/$30. portion. With TD owning a bakery, you would think they would serve bread with each meal. They charge extra. I thought this was cheap on their part. Also, the chairs were worn out at every table, exposed bare wood. There were mainly tourists there. This restaurant needs to be updated. We ate at Cuoco, the food was terrible. We will never go back there. TD needs to focus on the restaurants he owns and get back to quality."

  • "I ate outside, so there was traffic noise, but inside seemed to be very pleasant if you're looking for a quiet place to dine."

  • "We enjoyed a leisurely brunch seated by the window. Excellent dishes and good service, too. Food arrived relatively quickly and our server even gave us to-go cups of a refill of coffee, so we could enjoy it as we walked back through Pike Place Market to our hotel. A great brunch overall."

  • "This is our 4th visit to Etta's, the salmon was delicious however the variety on the menu was very limited, and what we thought was a special place is just ok"

  • "For the second time my wife and I ate lunch at Etta's and once again very very pleased with the seafood stew and the fish and chips. Fod was fresh, tasty, unique and the Bloody Mary's devine. Our server was attentive, knowledable about the menu and really took care of us. We highly recommend Etta's."

  • "I have lived on the Atlantic Coast and the Pacific Coast, and I've eaten a lot of crab cakes -- Etta's were the best I ever ate. A friend and I were seated at a corner booth, where we could actually hear ourselves talk without straining. Other areas of the restaurant, particularly to the right of the entrance door, looked a lot more lively, if that's your taste. I will certainly go again."

  • "We had the best waitress who had us drooling with her descriptions. She was attentive and very helpful. You could tell she loves where she works and the clients as well. Everyone liked their meal. The birthday girl finished off both crab cakes which were exceptional she said. I had the best halibut I have ever eaten. It was succulent in a light fresh vegetable sauce bed, with a thin crisp coat. Fabulous!"

  • "My wife and I are in Seattle a few times a year. After spending time walking around the city, ending up at Pikes Market, the short walk up the street to Etta's is the best part of the day. The staff is very helpful and extremely friendly. Laura is Gluten free and has several other allergies they have to deal with. Everyone at Etta's does an excellent job accommodating all her needs as well as providing some of the best food in Seattle. Highly recommended, and in my case, mandatory for a great stay in Seattle."

  • "Second Tom D restaurant and disappointed. Steamed clams and "Love rubbed" salmon were good - but not great. Fish Fry was a salt bomb. Place was filthy - floor, tables and I won't tell you what the washrooms were like. No refill on my water. "someone name" retirement cocktail was delicious."

  • "Went there with my girlfriend for a special dinner, couldn't have had a better time. She was cold because she was dressed up and they brought her a blanket. The waitress was incredible, very nicely chatty and had great recommendations for our meals. Probably will come back next year."

  • "The food at Etta's was outstanding. The salmon was recommended and it was delicious. The spinach salad was amazing. My only complaint was that there was a very small selection of wines sold by the glass. I was concerned about parking, but after 6:00 we had no problem finding a place to park right on the street near the restaurant."

  • "Went for our 25th wedding anniversary. We waited for a table outside and it was very pleasant. However the table itself was so sticky that a piece of paper I had sitting on the corner was stuck to it when we left. The pasta dish we had was overcooked and bland. We ordered the added crab for a treat. When the dish first came out, there was no crab. The waiter returned it to get the crab. The crab itself added absolutely nothing to the dish except $10. The tuna dish was good. The sides (asparagus and cornbread pudding) were excellent. Nice selection of wine by the glass. The service was good. The espresso was good. However, I expected better food and will not go there again. But the company was wonderful."

  • "We recently took some out-of-town visitors to Etta's and had a great lunch. Although it's a popular spot, we didn't feel any pressure to eat and run. Service was very professional, and the food was delicious. If you are looking for someplace good to eat near the Market, Etta's is a very good choice."

  • "My wife and I had a first time dinner at Etta's. From appetites to main course, the food quality was high and exceptional in taste. We plan to return for brunch!"

  • "From the warm welcome, to the fabulous dessert, Etta's offered an exceptional dining experience. The fresh fish was outstanding and cooked to perfection; so nice to have a chef that brings out the fresh flavors, versus burying them in sauces. The calamari was the best I've ever had and I highly recommend the coconut cream pie. Not too noisy to have a pleasant conversation, but very vibrant at the same time! Will definitely return."

  • "Hubby and I really enjoyed our experience..even though we heard they had run out of bread?...They were looking...lol. The view from our table was great as we could see all the walkbys from the Public Market. Loved the mussels and the string fries...yummy!"

  • "We joined friends for dinner after enjoying Pike Place market followed by drinks/appetizers in Post Alley. Etta's was just the spot to end our evening with a wonderful dinner. The ambiece was great -- nice view, comfortable seating, artsy decor, friendly service, and vibrant (but not too loud) atmosphere. Our dinner was delicious -- great salad followed by really yummy copper river salmon. We try to come every year for the copper river salmon and it's always well worth it!"

  • "Rarely go to Etta's but needed to have a crab salad. Too much dressing, too strong with lemon, and had to send back. It was graciously replaced, but $60 for lunch is a little ridiculous, particularly for a very mediocre crab salad."

  • "Waiter kept trying to talk us into wine and food that was more expensive. "Tired" food."

  • "As visitors to Seattle, we were looking for a restaurant that could make Northwest food shine. Etta's did not disappoint. Andrea, our enthusiastic waitress, guided us through the choices and flavors. My Copper River salmon was superb, and the side dishes - including the best asparagus I've ever tasted - were perfect complements. My husband enjoyed his oysters, main course, and the fabulous triple coconut pie - the last especially important, since he worked for several years in a pastry shop and is very fussy about his pie! So if you seek high-quality food near Pike Place Market, Etta's is the place to eat."

  • "We were disappointed with the food. With so many food choices in Seattle, we wish we would have gone somewhere else. The fried seafood tasted like something you would find in the frozen section in the grocery store. The salmon was good. Wine selection by the glass was average."

  • "Excellent food, very staff, reservations were easy to make (a user-friendly system) Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. p.s.-I checked my receipt for the dinner I had on Saturday night (table for 2 at 6:15 pm under my name eric Olson) and found that I had mistakenly shorted my server on the tip I wanted to giver her. Her name escapes me, but she has a tattoo on her arm-- Chinese characters that mean "craziness" and "beauty" or something close. I'd like to send her an additional tip. Can you tell me how to do that? "

  • "Came here for dinner looking for a similar experience as Dahlia Loungebut sadly it was not even close. Menu is small with no added specials. Food was tasty and prepared well but nothing special. Spring veg chopped salad was a miss, lots of lettuce very few fava beans or peas. Also the atmosphere felt like a diner."
