Diner Reviews
  • "Delicious, price fixed pre-theater dinner. All members of my party had a different appetizer. We all enjoyed them. The roasted butternut squash soup tasted scrumptious! Main course short ribs was tender and tasty."

  • "This will be at the top of my list for my next visit. I will happily recommend it to my friends too!"

  • "We were 1 of only 2 seated tables when we arrived at 12:30 for brunch, but the kitchen was unbearably slow! Major lags between each course. Food was good and may give it one more try based on other great reviews, but this first outing wasn't great. Still thinking about the excellent, smooth, creamy, not-too-sweet chocolate pudding though!"

  • "Excellent food. Specials were excellent, pasta dishes wonderful. We told them we had theatre tickets and they were so helpful and quick."

  • "We were seated at a table and either the chairs are too high for the tables or visa versa but it was very uncomfortable. We had too taller people in our group and both of our knees touched the table underneath. We had to sit back from the table which made it uncomfortable. Food was great but this brought down my overall rating of the restaurant. In face I wouldn't come back unless the seating was different. I would recommend with reservations."

  • "I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood or if you are going to theater. They serve in a timely fashion without rushing. The place is very pretty & the food was delicious. Service was also very good."

  • "We were extremely disappointed in the food, the service and the ambiance. The food was mediocre at best as was the service. This is NOT a quiet oasis.....the music was way too loud boarding on obnoxious. We couldn't wait to finish up and get out."

  • "We enjoyed dinner... The service was excellent. The price-fix menu was a little restrictive, but the menu is interesting. My husband had the short ribs which he enjoyed. I had the ravioli with veal with a sage sauce and it was delicious. Overall a lovely dining experience. I would return."

  • "This was a great find. Tucked right in the theatre district, Etcetera Etcetera is a wonderful place serving great food with top notch service. We went for Sunday brunch and loved everything about it. Starting with bread assortment, arugula salad, egg florentine, and sandwiches, every dish was delicious. By NYC standard, the tables are not so close together. The staff was great. They always seem to around when you need something, gladly taking away empty plates. The value - considering the quality of food, great location, and service was phenomenal. Will definitely return!"

  • "I went for brunch with 2 friends to this restaurant recently, based on great reviews on the internet. We were very pleased and impressed with our dining experience at this place. The food was delicious and the service by the waiting staff was superb. I arrived about 15 minutes early from my reservation and the owner kindly showed me to my table to wait for my other two friends. The waitress was very courteous and attentive and made our brunch experience a one of a kind. We all ordered different dishes which were just delicious, including the dessert. We also ordered extra "hot" cappuccinos, which were served to perfection! We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special place for brunch near the theater district in NYC."

  • "I've never loved any of the theater district restaurants I've been to - I mean they were absolutely fine, but if I didn't need to eat in the theater district, I wouldn't. Etcetera Etcetera is different! Delicious, interesting food, good service, pretty place - and they get you out in time for the show! I will definitely be back even without theater tickets!"

  • "We have been here several times and each time have found the food to be delicious, the service excellent and the noise level not over powering! All things important to us. The pre-fixe was outstanding, my fish and my companion's beef just yummie, not to mention the beet/buffalo mozzarella salad and the brownie dessert!"

  • "Great food, the arugula salad was exquisite! Friendly staff! Our waiter was extremely nice to our five year old who was the only kid in the restaurant. "

  • "The food, as usual, was very good. The service was friendly yet professional, attentive to details like water levels, wine pouring, etc. The noise level, however, was too high for our taste. There were a couple of large groups but the reality is - there is nothing to absorb sound (rugs, drapes ceiling tiles, etc.) I realize that many restaurants think that the loud buzz is exciting and inviting - but not to the pre-theater crowd like us."

  • "Food is always good. We arrived late due to 9th Avenue traffic and had to sit at a table right near the Maitre D and a service station. So not a favorite spot also when the door opens to the outside, chilly. However the food is always good as is the service. We certainly will be back there many times before the theater. Bunny"

  • "Our original reservation was for a party of 6 for 5:00 PM on a Saturday after a matinee performance of a Broadway show. On Friday, we found out that another couple wanted to join us and I requested Open Table to increase the reservation to 8. The site refused our request, but I called Etcetera, Etcetera directly and they accommodated us suggesting that we sit upstairs at a round table. The show was delayed in letting out due to some cast problem and I called the restaurant and advised that we would be late for our reservation. We did not arrive until 6:00 PM, but our table was held for us. The food was excellent and our waiter was a delightful young man from Brazil who provided excellent service. "

  • "Arrived 5 min late after calling and greeted immediately and very friendly. At table brought wine list very well thought out choices. Bread arrived with delicious olive oil based tangy dish on side and my Greek salad was the best I've tasted; highly recommend. Server told me my Cornish game hen would take 30 minutes which turned out quicker than promised and savored the bread and Greek salad during what was no wait at all. Had some of companion's prix fixe pasta most perfectly cooked that I've seen.anywhere and delicious. Topped off with complimentary pastries and companion received desert course with prix fixe pasta. Restaurant under promises and over delivers. You are in great hands. They take your food and service seriously. "

  • "Our party if six choose this restaurant on the recommendation of someone who had been 4 years prior. Our waiter was great at helping us choose apps, dinners and desserts - never ordering too much, just the correct amount. Friendly, fun and energetic - but never too loud to hear each other. Fantastic food all around."

  • "Whether a tourist, a New Yorker, or in for a show, a great place amongst some no-so-great places in the area. Brings good-old Italian food up quite a few notches with a manageable menu, small, but excellent wine list with good by-the-glass and 1/2 bottle selections. Staff is outstanding; attentive and knowledgeable without being obtrusive. Lovely, simple decor...and attentive to any time constraints. Recommended by a foodie friend and I will pass that on."

  • "Chose this place on a whim amongst the seemingly hundreds of restaurants in this neighborhood. We were pre-theater dining and the only table left was in a busy part of the restaurant so the three of us opted for the bar. The bartender was great, friendly, attentive and knowledgable about the menu. They were apologetic about the limited choice in tables (good for them for being busy!) and made sure we had a good experience at bar. "

  • "menu choices ample but not overwhelming. I chose carpaccio & risotto; both excellent. We also had fig cocktails ("Il Fico"), very good. Arrived at 5:15 for dinner and easily made it to a 7:00 show nearby."

  • "Terrific food, varied menu, outstanding service and reasonable prices all one block west of the major theatres. Veal & Raisin Ravioli is a House Specialty worth every extra calorie."

  • "Have been several times for lunch/brunch-- this was the first time for dinner. The fish I had (dorade) was delicious and perfectly cooked. Served over heirloom tomatoes, it was terrific. My friend had the salmon over lentils and said it was great as well. Would highly recommend. The room is lovely and service very friendly and efficient. "

  • "Our pre-theater dinner had its ups and downs. The service was very good, however the food itself was just ok. The Tuscan bean soup looked and tasted like mashed brown beans, and not what we were expecting for a Tuscan bean soup, however, the waiter very politely removed the dish from our bill. We came in two hours before the show, and alerted the staff of this time frame. However, the amount of time between the appetizer and main course was significant, forcing us to rush through coffee to make the show. Also, the main courses were brought to the table at staggered times rather than all at once, with one person having to wait what seemed like five minutes after everyone else's food was delivered and sat on the table cooling."

  • "Had a noon reservation. Waiter asked if we were seeing a 2pm matinee. We answered yes. For 4 people we ordered 2 prix fixe lunch daily specials, one salad and one soup. Even after repeated questioning, we received the 2 entrees, the salad and the soup at 1:20 pm. At the time the food was served, i also asked for the check, had a few bites of the pasta and left. Waiter was very apologetic, but this is no way to run a restaurant for a Wednesday matinee lunch crowd. "
