I have been to Esty Street many times over the last 10 years. My last two visits--one for brunch with a huge price tag and really minuscule portions (I mean it--really way minuscule) and this last visit were unfortunately really bad. The waiter could not be understood, the raviolis were a plate of mush, and, even though my full order was replaced (with a half order-- you already had some of it the waiter explained) the attitude was bad. Also, had a confirmed reservation on open table a couple of weeks ago for a 9:30 reservation (website claims they are open until 11 pm on weekends) and got a call at 9 saying the restaurant was closing early because it wasn't busy. I would think twice about going again.

The service was outstanding. Waiter and busboys were attentive. Lovely presentation on all food ordered.
We ordered the soup special, (potato and leek), absolutely delicious, and also the filet mignon lazagna, and the octopus all cooked to perfection. For entree we ordered the special (pork filet) and the veal chop (off the menu) both orders very tasty and cooked well. Desert we chose the (special)home made strawberry ice cream which was flavorful. This is the restaurant to frequent for great meals.

Pleasant room--food generally good to very good--only exception was a Thai inspired noodle base for grilled tuna. Fish was excellent, but Thai curry noodles not well balanced in flavor. Soft shell crab delicious appetizer, scallop "risotto" superb. bronzini fillet nicely done. Raspberry sorbet excellent.

Incredibly disappointing considering Open Table reviews. The seared tuna special was filled with veins and absolutely NOT sushi grade. Even restaurants that are much less expensive know this and can get it right. If they can't get the right cut, or it's too expensive for their expected customers, then why offer it as a "special" - unless when they say special they don't mean in a good way. I doubt I will go back.
