    Abundant plates of delicious food and tall glasses of chilled beer are dispensed, while guests learn about various beer making techniques and unusual styles and components of both the brews and the food. With colorful latin decor, plush furniture, and tropical greenery reaching into the soaring ceilings of a gorgeous old brick building, friendly faces welcome you while latin music sets the mood for your dining experience. Executive Chef Travis Borba invites you to share his menu of Latin Fusion. Familiar favorites have lost their heavy cheeses and highfat toppings, and found savory sauces, grilled or slow cooked proteins, healthful veggies and housemade beans and rices, all in abundant portions. Plaintain Crusted Halibut, Argentinitan style rib-eye steak, Lobster Tacos, Glazed Kahlua pork chop, our famous chile rellanos in 3 flavors. Vegetarians & specific dietary needs have several options as well. Paso wines, craft beers & you may try a "taste" first before you choose your perfect glass.   • "Visited Estrella when they first opened two years ago. Great experience. Brenda the owner was at our table with several bottles to make sure we chose the perfect wine with dinner. Two years later, they are still there and still wonderful. Still have the Jamaican Seafood Curry on the menu - wonderful - my partner and I are officially in a rut. Had the seafood curry two years ago as well as both nights of our stay in Paso Robles. This time it was Eric (manager) that was all over making sure we had the right wine. He recommended a Tempranillo from Stanger Vineyards that was spectacular. Table service by Javier was perfect (he was perfect 2 years ago as well and he remembered us!). Will have to return to try other items on the menu"

  • "My husband and I were able to secure a last minute OpenTable reservation for dinner at Estrella. The food was tasty, and we really enjoyed the queso appetizers. Two negative criticisms: The prawns were way overcooked and it would be nice to have a tomato based salsa in addition to the black bean / corn salsa. Overall, we enjoyed it and had a nice dinner."

  • "We went to celebrate an anniversary. The food service and surroundings were excellent. We were slightly disappointed that there was not a full bar, but the wine list was diverse and excellent. The same can be said for the menu selections - diverse and excellent. Some of the menu items were not available and that seemed strange since the restaurant was not that busy. We give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they wanted to serve only what was fresh. Overall it was a great meal in a very lovely place."

  • "Unusual and creative small plates in wine country was what we were looking for. A group of us wanted to bring our own wine for an after wine-tour evening out, and Estrella sounded good. Nice reviews, tapas, a south-american/carribbean vibe, best of all they could accommodate 10. Unfortunately, food was so-so. Typical mid-market mexican fare. Tapas were limited to 6 choices, and the entree menu (we would have skipped if small plates had more variety) was overpriced. 2 steaks were offered, 2 of each ordered, all were tough and crudely seasoned with cold sauces, making the whole thing cold-to-lukewarm. That said, duck tamales and chile rellenos were pretty nice. We had a good time, thanks to our own wine."

  • "We went to the Estrella Restaruant for our Anniversary dinner on Valentines Day! They were booked so we took an early reservation. The service was excellent, they brought us drinks just after our arrival, then the courses were brought out and taken like clock work, but we had nice time to visit between each one. The offered Halter Ranch Cab which was excellent. We had the bacon wrapped filet which was tender and had a great flavor. (We have found that at some steak houses they don't season the meat enough.) Also, had the Grilled Cesar Salad and the dressing was the best Cesar I've had. I believe it had a bit of a Spanish or Mexican spice in it. The red velvet cake was okay, but the churros and chocolate dipping sauce were great!"

  • "I've dined here twice now for lunch. We the short rib tacos & they are great. However the chile relleno is superb! Light crunchy coating just the right amount of cheese & nice sauce. I will say 1st impression is nice place, but when we sat down the cloth napkins were not clean. Had to ask for another. I found no other problems. Waiter was terrific."

Having frequented a couple of favorite tapas restaurants in L.A., I was not a fan of the tapas. The portions were too large for traditional tapas and not particularly flavor-packed as most tapas we have had."

  • "We wanted to try a restaurant we had not been to before - got the San Luis obispo restaurant special Soup had too much chili powder in it - overwhelmed the flavor Flank steak was also too spicy- peppermint cheesecake was good We lived in the southwest for 15 years so are familiar with spicy food, but the flavors in these dishes were not to our taste."

  • "Good complimentry bean abd corn salsa w/ fresh chips. Their cheesy fondue style appitizer was great, enough for 5 of us. I had the seafood mare w/ rice and a curry sauce. Very good and lots of seafood including mahi mahi. The cheese chile rellenos (2) . were very good. The rib eys steah was like eating a filet mingon but wasn't very large. There regular steak was very good but also not very large. My only minor complaint was that they did not offer a bowl/plate for the clams/ mussels, which were plenty."

  • "Went with a Group of 7, sat in the back area, it was cozy, a bit loud, and buzzing. Service was very good, dishes came out right. Estrella had a restaurant special that 2 people at our table got, soup, flank steak and peppermint cheesecake, They like it. I had the shrimp tacos, The waitress explained these were make your own. The shrimp was served on skewers and nicely grilled with a red spice. The empanadas were good, the "quesadillas were not typical, they were fried and looked look empanadas. The vegetable side of succotash, was not lima beans and corn, it was mixed veggies, which everyone enjoyed. They brewed a pot of fresh decaf for two of us. Very nice."

  • "I booked a table for four at Estrella on a recent wine-tasting getaway with friends from frozen New Hampshire. I am a fan of Latin food, and the menu looked interesting. Our experience was spectacular. We had a fairly late reservation, so it was pretty quiet at the restaurant. The wait staff (we had two servers) were attractive, relaxed, friendly, intelligent, and patient. The food was superb. I had the Jamaican seafood curry and loved it. We had a memorable experience at Estrella and can't wait to go back!"

  • "Great location on 12th street nice atmosphere inside. Table was wobbly so they put napkins under one side, can't believe they didn't know that table was wobbly. Caesar Salad was tasteless, pork chop was good but the vegies were mushy and had no taste. The enchilada was ok but just ok, not much taste either. The bread pudding was excellent but we ordered Kahlua coffee with our dessert but didn't get it. They said they had to make the whipped cream for it and that's why it took so long. We got out coffee after finishing our desserts and then to top it off, it didn't taste like there was any Kahlua in it. They did not charge us for the coffee because it took so long, maybe that's why they didn't put any Kahlua in it????"

  • "Interesting and varied Latin-oriented menu. Very nice use of spices (not hot, though) and entrees are very nicely proportioned. Decent wine list to match as well as an interesting assortment of desserts. Wait staff is mostly young and local and always friendly and helpful. This is a great choice as one of Paso's more modestly-priced restaurants . . . and it's located just across from the town's central park so it is also a walking-friendly location."

  • "This was my choice to try out a new place in Paso Robles (has been open for a couple years). We were two couples and this was our first meal in town driving in on a Friday. Delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would return anytime. The only food item that was questionable was their prawn tacos, which had too much coating on grilled shrimp, thus it was over cooked. The braised beef tamales were delicious, as were the beef tacos and the halibut. We also tried the SW Caesar salad. I cannot wait to return."

One of our guests is temporarily on a medically supervised diet and the waiter was totally agreeable with warming up her carried-in entree. He made her feel comfortable and we all had fun. Thank you Javier!! The rest of us ordered off the menu and everyone had a great time. This is the way I want people to see our town! We will be back, of course! Great food and a fun menu with tapas options as well as entree options."

  • "We were so upset when we left. We will not recommend this restaurant or ever return lunch or dinner. We are locals that eat out a lot and have never been so un happy with a restaurant in our area that I would actually say something. Service was slow...Food was not up to par and when we tried to discuss it with the chef he blew us off. As soon as the manager left for the evening all servers were found in the back talking and chatting and even when I asked ours to return to our table threw an attitude. We wanted a bill and to get out of there so we could continue our evening at a place that cared. For a dinner that was 150.00 it in no way was worth it."
