  • "The food is always amazing and fun to eat. Its a great place to go with friends or as a couple. The waiters are always beyond accommodating and never rush you during your meal. I love eating Tapas because it gives me a million things to eat in one sitting because it is small portions. I highly recommend that you make reservations, ask to sit near a window so you aren't in the middle of the restaurant and bring plan on being there for an hour minimum. "

  • "Great food, decent bar and calm atmosphere make Estragon a neighborhood gem. Particularly fond of the grilled octopus, veggie paella, eggplant fries, artichoke hearts, and calamari; desserts weren't such a hit, though. Best part: the place was hopping but we were able to get a reservation just a few hours earlier and didn't have to share a table or endure somebody breathing down our necks to vacate."

  • "Initially was disappointed that the restaurant week menu had dropped one tapas per person from the fixed price menu, but it still ended up being more than enough food. The portions were perfect for sharing and more than at some other tapas places. The dishes themselves were very tasty and flavorful- some more interesting than others, but I think we enjoyed them all. My favorites were the fried artichokes, steak on toast (can't remember the proper name), North African chickpea dish, and brussel sprouts with chorizo. The fish was only so-so, and the desserts were a little disappointing. Overall, really enjoyed our dinner here though! They also have a lot of fun cocktails and wines."

  • "I found the tapas quite large and a bit hit or miss. I had a great goat cheese and tomato on toast, but a not particularly good chicken and meatballs. The desert was advertised as a flourless chocolate cake, but it was really a brownie (though an excellent one)."

  • "We used a Groupon for ten tapas for four. It was great! The roasted Brussels sprouts are a must. As was the huevos rotos, shrimp, calamares, tortilla espanola( a Spanish potato omelet) the Serrano and Manchego. Try the sangria by the pitcher. The waiter was terrific and the owner chef was visible.. It is a must and lots of fun trying the various tapas."

Order a few tapas at a time to share with the table, take your time, and enjoy the food. There are so many delicious options available on the menu. The service was great too - they don't bother you too much or try to rush you. A fantastic experience!"

  • "The food and ambience of Estragon is like a trip to Spain. If it were not for snow outside and the occasional bus- I could imagine myself in Barcelona. Superb attentive service, the tapas come out quickly and are hot and delicious. We had the impeccably fried artichoke hearts as well as the calamari - not a bit of grease, just yummy crispy coating and delightfully not over salted. The sea scallops were seared nicely, not overdone, as was the lamb chops with garlicky mashed cauliflower. Short rib flatbread was a huge portion, still tasty the next day! The wine list is expansive with many choices in a variety of price ranges. Can't wait till my next "trip"."

  • "We split four tapas which was plenty of food, for a reasonable price. Two were delicious: goat stuffed peppers and the brussel sprouts. However the other two were plain. Pork with cheese and ham was just like an uninspired corde en blue. Breaded eggplant fritters were pretty flavorless. I wished we had asked for the waitress' opinion."

  • "I really enjoyed my meal at Estragon. They had an extensive menu, and my husband and I had a hard time deciding what to order, since it all sounded so delicious! We wound up ordering a carnivore's delight of lamb skewers, pork croquettes, scallops, and a serrano ham & cheese plate. We were not disappointed. If I was in the mood for tapas again, Estragon is where I'd look first."

We also had dessert -- the ginger peach bread pudding that night was wonderful. My favorite dish was the fried artichoke hearts. Also loved the chicken livers, which you do not see very often these days."

  • "Arrived at 5:00 on a snowy night. With no other patrons in the restaurant, we rec'd individual attention from the bartender, Joseph, who was extremely knowledgeable on wines. If you like robust red wines, you must try a bottle of Juan Gil's Jumilla. We noticed the chef so we engaged him in conversation. We mentioned our trip to Madrid (where he is from) and he wrote down 4 restuarants we must dine at. He was wonderful and his tapas plates were terrific! Great waiter named Shahill (patient and knowledgeable too). Must try the crispy chickpeas for fun, the Cuban pork sandwich and the flan for dessert. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would go to Estragon all the time! Comfortable and delicious."

  • "We got to the Estragon right when it opened at 5 (going to a concert at TD Garden which started at 7). The restaurant was chilly but the heat had not yet kicked in and when it did it was really a very pleasant room. We purchased the 10 Tapas Groupon for a party of 4 and let Lauren our waitress know after she greeted us. The wine and food selections were TRUE MADRID - Spanish. We can honestly say the food is OUTSTANDING. The fried artichoke hearts, the grilled asparagus, croquetas to name a few were delicious! Lauren was a professional and friendly server. Food arrived promptly and hot. I think the only interesting thing was that the wine is not served in wine glasses at the table…but it is served in wine glasses at the bar."

  • "Tapas were no-frills, authentic, and good, although some were delicious while others were mediocre. Our favorites were the large octopus and beef tongue. Squid ink paella was fantastic. Returning to try each item on the menu would definitely be a fun endeavor. Service was family-style, which makes sense but was frustrating considering that we were trying to order as couples. We also weren't told what was what when it was set on our table, so the separate ordering turned into chaos, compounded by dietary restrictions. Estragon does label menu items that are vegan, vegetarian, or containing gluten, nuts, or dairy. Limited liquor licence was a bit of a let down but, based on the Fig Old Fashioned, they have high quality infused liquors."

There is no rushing, so if you need to be in and out this is not the place for you. I could not have been happier with our experience with a group of 8 people."

  • "I've been to Estragon a few times, and I appreciate that it is not always crowded like many other South End restaurants. The atmosphere is inviting, and there is plenty of seating. I personally can't stand crowded bars where you can't hear yourself think and have nowhere to sit, so a place like Estragon works whether you are looking to enjoy a meal, drink with friends or just have a quiet drink at the bar. The food is quite good, and unlike many Tapas restaurants, each dish has plenty to share. It's priced right, and the drinks are reasonable too. Service can be spotty (we had to flag down the waitress both times I went recently), but they are friendly enough. Glad to have Estragon in the neighborhood!"

  • "My boyfriend and I dined here on a Wednesday night. We ordered 5 tapas and the food was great. Our server, Joseph, was really fun and personable. The only downside was that our food took a long time. We ordered the skirt steak then the salad afterwards then our last three tapas at the same time. We were told the lobster pot pie takes 27 minutes but expected the other tapas out sooner. We waited roughly 40 minutes until they all came out so by that time we were really hungry again despite eating two tapas earlier. The server did keep checking in with us however, so it wasn't a horrible experience. I definitely want to go back soon!"

  • "We went to Estragon at the request of my daughter who had visited Spain several years ago. She had a craving for authentic Spanish food. I have no point of reference. The food was good. Definitely a more adventurous menu; we tried grilled baby octopus. Lots of less adventurous dishes as well (calamari - nothing special, marinated olives - good, artichokes - delicious). Our server was helpful and suggested that if we wanted Paella to order it right out of the gate as it takes 25 minutes to completion. According to my daughter the Paella was very good. If I had a craving for Spanish food I would definitely go back to Estragon. Tons of street parking."

  • "Though we had a big group, the food was great! Best croquetas I have ever had. I recommend this for groups of people that are 4 or less. I went with 6 people and it was hard to deal with the serving sizes unless we ordered 2 of everything which could get pricey. However, it was still one good tapa restaurant. Not the best as there is stiff competition in the area, but definitely higher on my list."

  • "Great food, great service, nice ambience, great prices... Estragon has it all. Plus the small plates aren't so small. My favorite way to start is with a dry gin martini and a bowl of their marinated olives and just sit and enjoy for a bit. Then I order the food. There's no pressure to "move it along," which I really appreciate. I never seem to make it to dessert because I'm stuffed. Estragon makes me want to move to the South End."

  • "The service was slow. The food seemed exciting on the menu but not in actuality. The smoked baby octopus was barely eatable; the mushrooms were so oversalted, we couldn't eat them at all; the butternut squash was made in what seemed like ham juice and had a smoked ham flavor which I hate. The shrimp, scallops and asparagus were good enough as well as the bread. When we told the waitress the mushrooms were not eatable, she did not take them off the bill, but instead took off the bread pudding, letting us know that that was for the mushrooms. Except for the fact that the bread pudding didn't cost as much as the mushrooms. The pudding was absolutely not worth it."
