A word from Estia Taverna
The stunning restaurant, which is the first of its kind in South Jersey, will transport guests to the Greek Islands with an atmosphere reminiscent of an inviting Mediterranean home, and a menu of authentic specialties, simply prepared, that represent the best of Greek cuisine. The restaurant specializes in whole grilled fish, which are flown in from the Greek islands, the shores of Morocco, Tunisia and Portugal, and procured from independent North American fishermen. We have created a welcoming restaurant designed with the comforts of a typical Greek home. We used materials such as hand-chiseled Jerusalem limestone floors, hand woven rugs, vaulted ceilings, antiqued stucco walls, wood plank floors and exposed wood beams to evoke the traditional atmosphere. A series of dining areas feature rustic farm tables, dark wood chairs with beige cushions and dining nooks with upholstered banquettes. The homelike ambience is accentuated with whitewashed walls.Continued

  • "They are newly opened. Services was good, though a bit inconsistent. Food options were easily accommodated, though a few times had to be re-requested. Some of the foods were new to me, but all of us liked what we had, and would likely return."

  • "This was a good place to eat if you like Greek Food and Seafood. The menu has many very rich items on it, so if you have regulations on what you can eat, this may not be the best place to go to dine. Dessert was great - recommend the Molten Chocolate cake - although it took a bit of time before the dessert came to the table."

  • "Good food. Tables crowded. Noise level high : had to shout across the table. Felt rushed , tried to take our plates away still eating long time for our drinks from bar to get there. Managers walking around talking to staff didn't see much interaction with patrons Unfortunately the good food didn't hide the other issues"

  • "I was always a fan of Estia in Center City, but I am REALLY a fan of Estia Taverna that opened up in Marlton. The food was excellent, service superb and the ambiance is absolutely delightful. No reason to go to any other "Greek" restaurant in the area. We now how a Philly quality & style restaurant in our own backyard!! Kudos to the staff of Estia!! Can't wait for brunch to start!!"

  • "Dined at Estia Taverna for the first time this past weekend. The decor, service and food were outstanding. My mother, Athens born and an excellent cook, was very impressed. Our appetizers: fried calamari, saganaki and the trio of spreads, all freshly made and delicious. Our entrees, lamb shank, shrimp with orzo and moussaka and Mediterranean sea bass, scrumptious. Our dessert Ekmek, brought back childhood memories for my mom, so delicious and fresh. We can't wait to return to dine at Estia Taverna again. Hope to see lunch served as well in the future!"

  • "The predecessor to Estia Taverna (Pietro's) was a favorite of mine and I only hoped that Estia Taverna would be as good. While very different, it was surprisingly good! We tried several appetizers (Estia chips, grape leaves, Mediterranean spread and cheese saganaki); each was better than the one before. I had the Lavraki (grilled sea bass) which had a wonderful flavor and my friend has Moussaka which was all that comfort food should be. I will be back often."

  • "Had been to the establishment that was there before and was wondering about the new replacement. 4 of us had an excellent experience on a recent Friday night. It's hard to believe that you are sitting at the sight of the old "circle". Food, atmosphere, & service were wonderful, the foodie crowd was lively. Way more upscale than we knew but we consider that a good thing! Warning, though, the prices are hefty so be prepared."

  • "Overall, it was on and in some cases above par with the Greek restaurants in NYC. The stuff calamari was superb. The lamp chopped cooked to perfection. And even the eggplant, which is normally bland was grilled and seasoned perfectly. They also make a homemade hummus which had no heavy chick pea flavor. Yes we indulged in ever aspect of the menu. Even the baklava was nice and flakey with the right amount of honey to it. The ambiance and decor is great. Overall it's about time south jersy got a true Greek restaurant."

  • "Great food and service but I found it alittle pricey. Very crowded and loud so although it would be a nice special occasion place the noise could take away from that for me"

  • "The appetizers were amazing. Dinner was average. It all tasted good but not for the price they charge. You can get the same quality food at a cheaper Greek restaurant. The restaurant is EXTREMELY noisy. Conversing with your dinner partners is nearly impossible unless you shout the whole time. Overall not worth the price."

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience and found the food, ambiance & service to be impeccable. We would return and recommend Estia's to our friends. We did find the noise level a little high, but with such ceilings we realize it is difficult to control.A great, new restaurant for South Jersey!!"

  • "I was skeptical when they took away the prior coal-fired pizza place to make way for Estia. I have to say I was highly impressed with the transformation. Food and atmosphere was very good, along with the service."

  • "We love Greek food and often dine at the Philadelphia Estia; now we're delighted that we have a New Jersey branch. The food was excellent as was the service. The space is light and tastefully decorated."

  • "The atmosphere, food and service at Estia were all amazing. Their restaurant in Philadelphia comes highly recommended so I am so glad this place has opened just ten minutes fromy home. The food is so amazing and fresh as well as reasonably priced! My entire family enjoyed and can't get over this new Greek gem in our own back yard. Reservations highly recommended since it's a hot new spot and tables limited."

  • "The service is like amateur hour. Although the server was very nice , she didn't have the professional / experience needed . The wait staff / servers who brought the bread,, we're very unfriendly to the point of being downright rude! The eggplant, zucchini chips were ok, but the moussaka was best I've had. My husband had the sardines, and they were ok. Also, you will not receive bread until you order an entree. We are used to having a cocktail( which are expensive at Estia) and relax before dinner and naturally expected some bread and hummus, but were informed of that policy. Not a good way to begin dinner., being made to feel like you were going to eat the bread and leave. We will wait until the kinks are worked out."

  • "The minute you step through the doors you are transported to a Greek Island, the stonework and wooden ceiling are amazing. Our waiter, Anthony, was helpful and very knowledgable about the food and wine. I ordered the octopus appetizer, my husband ordered the mussels and we shared an order of dolmades. All were the best we've had anywhere . A plate of toasted pita bread with three greek spreads was also brought to the table. For our main course I ordered the lamb chops, marinated for three days and cooked on the grill, they melted in my mouth. My husband ordered the salmon, also extremely good. The meal wasn't complete without the baclava and some greek coffee. I highly recommend Estia Taverna, Take a mina vacation and go, you deserve it !"

  • "The renovation of Pietro's was remarkable. The food was really exceptional. The service a bit slow but attentitive. However I really dislike businesses attempting to mislead me. When we recieved the bill the "suggested tips were computed at 18%, 20% and 22% of the bill. Two problems. #1. Tips range from 15-20%. A 20% tip is for truely remarkable service. I've never heard of a 22% tip. #2. The "suggested" tip was computed on the total bill including the tax, not the tab itself. This pushed the 22% tip, if anyone was willing to leave that, to 25%!!! I left a 15% tip of the bill for the service that was good only because I suspect the waiter himself had little to do with it. Check the Bill carefully if you eat here."

  • "Estia Taverna is really beautiful inside. It is very simple and elegant. The use of wood and stonework is really well done and it just feels very nice. They have a small bar and also a small lounge for waiting. There is also a raw bar and some fresh fish displayed on ice. We had the grilled calamari for an appetizer that was stuffed with cheese. That was really excellent and the grilled taste was spot on. I had the lamb chops and they were fantastic, they were marinated and grilled. My wife had the Bronzino which was also grilled and moist and delicious. My brother in law had the Sea Bass which he also thought was done very well. We tried a bottle of Greek white wine and it was a very good meal."

  • "This was my second time at the restaurant. The food was outstanding. Everything was fresh an expertly prepared. The seafood is incredible. Even our Greek salad was fantastic. All the ingredients were exceedingly fresh and beautifully yet simply prepared. The atmosphere inside is beautiful. Lots of candlelight, wood and clean open kitchen. Our server, Anthony, was awesome. He was pleasant and friendly and very easy to communicate with. I would definitely request him again. We sat in one of the booths near the bar and I think it was one of the better tables. All in all it was a delicious dinner. We never felt like we weren't important enough or that our requests were difficult. I can't wait to dine here again."

  • "Food was very good, fish very fresh however, the service, especially the kitchen was awful. Ordered estia chips & tuna tartatre toeat together - took 15 minutes for chips & the tartare never showed up! Entrees came out separately. Took a good 15 minutes after we were seated to get bread!!! Their act is not together at all! Considering the prices of the food they should have this restaurant running a lot smoother then it is - I definitely understand opening problems but this was really bad."

  • "Dining at Taverna is not merely for a meal, it's for the experience. The food is impeccable, matched with service which combines professionalism and knowledge to ensure that your meal is not only enjoyable, but unique. The atmosphere of Taverna is intimate & relaxing. Some highlights of the meal: Octopodi appetizer, was perfectly grilled, and so tender one could cut it with a fork. Dolmaldes are perfect, texture & flavor. The lamb chop entree is a must: cooked to perfection! The Plaki is straight from the old country, comforting & satisfying. Also dessert, Galactoboureko is a lovely combination of texture & rounds out the meal. Estia is wonderful for a get together, romantic date, or a casual meal with friends. Don't forget the Greek wines!"

  • "My husband and I wanted to try out the new Estia Taverna Restaurant near us in Marlton, having tried out the Estia one in Philly and enjoyed it a lot. You can't tell from the outside, but this restaurant, too, is really beautiful inside! Our greeters were warm and welcoming and it almost felt like we were back in Greece. The menu seemed a lot like the one in Philly, but a little less expensive. We had calamari appetizer, lamb chops for the main course (both were delicious), and I topped it off with a not-too-sweet baklava and gelato dessert. The servers were attentive and the ambiance so pleasant we stayed extra long just to enjoy the feeling of being there....a really wonderful evening!"

  • "Beautiful restaurant, but noise level made it painful for our group of six to carry on conversation. Drink prices were fair, but food was quite expensive. My grouper was very salty and none of us were impressed with the appetizers. All in all, we spent $100 for one glass of wine, a shared salad, platter and no desert or coffee. I will try it again, but there are other places in the area where I could BYOB and spend $60."

  • "Missing pietros, missing the price point ,think a lot of people thought since its called taverna that it would be more casual in price point!! food very good ,beets salty, will try again, must improve the size of a drink!!!!!!!"

  • "this Marlton Greek restaurant (nice bar). If you like Estia in the city you will love their new restaurant in SJ. Octopus was tender and delicious. Greek salad was especially good with some of the best tomatoes I have ever tasted this time of year! Where did they find them?? Fish selection was so good that it should satisfy every fish lover out there. Sea Bass was awesome as was the tile fish. Save room for the Greek deserts which were also very good. My only complaints (maybe because it just opened) are the parking and the wine list (small selection under each category of grapes). We will definitely go back!"

  • "A fan of Estia in Philly. This owner needs help. Seated on time for 7:15 Res. no menus or bread or drink orders for over 1 hr. another hr. till dinner arrived. Very loud many people waiting to be seated. Food was superb when it did arrive except the fish which was very dry. Didn't get out of there till 10:00. Our server did her best but this isn't Estia. I'd go in town if you want an outstanding dining experience."

  • "I realize this is your first weekend. The two seat tables were VERY close together. We could barely get into the seats without disturbing the other diners to either side. I asked the hostess if it would be possible to sit somewhere else she said that this was the table chosen for us. We sat down and the people next to us said that 2 other couple refused the table. There were still empty tables. She could have easily put us someplace else. We also usually spend more than most tables. The food was very good but please retrain your hostess and take one 2 top out."
