We eat at Estia many times a year, especially before the Speakers Series, the food is great as is the service! We had a special occasion dinner in the wine cellar last year, what fun that was!! I have given gift certificates there and everyone has always enjoyed the food.

When we told our server we were going to the opera, we received our food amazingly fast even though the restaurant was very crowded. The $18 fixed menu had something for everyone. The bronzino was excellent. We plan to have brunch at Estia before every opera.

This was not one of our better experiences. The chicken was overcooked and dry, the honey cake and fruit were mediocre. Fruit was not ripe and was pretty scarce on the plate. The fish was good, and the appetizer spreads were nice.

Our party of four very much enjoyed our dinner. Three of us had the 3 courses for $30. special. A very good value and quite tasty. Mine consisted of calamari and bronzino with ratatouille. A friend had the vegetarian platter, eggplant which was really excellent. Dessert, a small portion of cut up fruit was the weakest course. Another friends strip steak was surprisingly good. Service was excellent. We were treated very well, our request for a good table granted. We will return.

My wife loves Greek food and Estia is the top rated choice in Philadelphia on a number of review lists. We were seated in an alcove table near the bar. The acoustics were unusual in that we could barely make our our conversation and also had a hard time hearing our waitress. Instead the bar noise seemed to be funneled into our table. The food was well prepared (whole fish is the specialty) and presentation was nice but the meal was nothing that would make this a special place to visit. I've been to many less decorative and less expensive local Greek restaurants where I felt that the food was better. I would recommend a visit if you like Greek food because your experience might be different but we won't be repeat customers.

Estia is simply the best restaurant in Philly for those who want food prepared simply with fresh, top quality ingredients.. The fish is flown in from the Mediterranean several times a week, grilled and served with the best Greek olive oil and fresh lemon mixture--simple and delicious. And the food is consistently good no matter what season is or time of day.

I went for lunch with a colleague and had the Restaurant Week 3-course meal: bean soup with 2 beans that was mostly carrots--sent it back; sea bass with roasted veggies--ok but not memorable; and some kind of cake that was just OK. Won't be returning. The service was great thanks to a very nice waitress.

I went here with my wife for our anniversary. It was a little loud, but it was also during restaurant week, so I expected it to be busier than normal. We had reservations and were seated promptly, but it took a while for a server to come by (around 15 minutes.) Once the server did check on us, the service was fantastic. There's not much of a view, but the ambiance is romantic, even if it's a little crowded. The food was amazing and quite filling. I would definitely go back.

We always enjoy dining at Estia. However, it IS expensive. So we went during restaurant week. But when we arrived we decided to order instead from the pre-theater menu; we thought it was a better value than the RW menu. We liked everything we ordered. The reason we recommend Estia to others is that it is the whole package: great ambiance, service and food. I wish it was not in such a high rent location, because then it probably would not cost so much.

  • Bad for restaurant week customers
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 9/14/2014
I think the restaurant cuts price a lot for restaurant week, so the customer for the "special menu" also got a "special service". It is understandable considering the lower tips out of the lower bill. Waited for more than a hour for the first entree, no one showed up to refill water, dropped the bill on the table, waited for additional 30 min to have someone pick up my credit card.

Just what we wanted! The ambience and decor was right up our ally! Not fancy or pretentious but still upscale and vibrant. It was a bit on the louder side but what do you expect from a Greek restaurant? The service was right on! We were greeted with a smile and accommodated when we asked for a special table. The waiter must eat there all the time! He knew every item as if he cooked it himself. The food!!! We had a couple apps, split a salad and lamb and fish for entrees. Every part of this dinner and night was a home run!

This was a lovely dining experience. The fish is very fresh and simply prepared and is delicious! The service is fine, available, low key and responsive and the waiter answered all questions without telling us his favorite foods which was a relief. Desserts were very good as well. We asked for a quiet table and although the place was buzzing we actually got a quiet booth. I fully recommend this restaurant.

I went to Estia during Restaurant Week with my family. The meal was fantastic: I had the Saganaki (fried cheese) for appetizer, the lamb chops with potatoes for the entree, and the Greek yogurt for dessert. The lamb chops were succulent and delicious, the potatoes very-well seasoned. The fried cheese was a little salty but it went well with some bread. The dessert was light and a great end to the meal. My only two negative comments are regarding the service and the atmosphere. The waiter did not bring he usual bread and hummus spread at the beginning; I had to ask. The food took a little long to arrive (probably because of the crowd). It was a bit irritating though that people were taking so much flash photography.

Estia consistently delivers authentic Greek food, outstanding friendly service (Andreas was our waiter on this visit) in a beautiful setting. I was in the mood for a hamburger (delicious with perfect country-style fries) but I can never resist their refreshingly delicious tomato salad with red onions, olives, and feta!!! The bread is the best Italian with a hard crust, perfect for all dipping. Beginning with the authentically sweet hostesses, to the wait staff, to the manager who circulates and makes sure customers are happy, Estia has a terrific team in front of the house to support the great food! I keep coming back to Estia for a relaxing and delicious meal anytime I crave good hospitality in a beautiful setting...highly recommend!
