  • "I will go again & again if only to have the very best tomatoes whatever the season. They fly them in from Greece! Plump, brite red, juicy & delicious. Just love their Greek salad. And request Saki as your waiter. He's wonderful!"

  • "We had not enjoyed Estia for some time, so what a treat. And the pre-orchestra specials were perfect and well timed. Great service and great food. So glad they are open on a Sunday night. Opa!"

  • "Amazing food, service, and a beautiful interior that transports you to a Greek Village!!! This restaurant is perfect for every special occasion and casual enough to enjoy brunch with great friends!! I love Estia! Where else will I get fish flown in from the Mediterranean 6 days a week?? You must try the hummus, the tzatziki and the lavraki (branzino)!!!"

  • "A frequent visitor to Estia, and never disappointed, whether it be pre-theater or an evening event. Drinks well made and properly sized. Waitstaff knowledgeable and tolerant. Food consistently good. Had the pre-theater menu this time. Great deal: 3 courses for $30. Calamari, spanakopeta, bronzino, roasted chicken and fresh fruit. All you could ask for. We could come here any time we have an event on the Avenue of the Arts, but go elsewhere just to experience different cuisines."

  • "For a dinner before a Philadelphia Orchestra concert, we enjoyed two rounds of several appetizers/small plates. Service was perfectly paced and solicitous. Just a wonderful evening."

  • "Fresh well prepared contemporary Greek food. Great grilled octopus appetizer, excellent fish. The friendly woman at the bar recommended a really good Greek white wine - a Moschofilero, that went great with the fish. Fresh fish on display. Weekends - authentic Greek music, not overpowering. Jumping on a Saturday night. Glad for my Open Table reservation!"

  • "Very crowded and noisy on a Friday night, pre-theater. Could barely hear the waiter. Theater menu was well priced but food was pedestrian. Not tempted to return."

  • "The hummus, bourbon smash drink, fresh tomato salad, lamb chops and Chilean sea bass. All were outstanding and recommend to anybody. You will not be disappointed. Also right across from the theater."

  • "I have eaten here many times. It is pricey for my budget, but worth it. The apps are amazing. They don't mind substitutions (I always request the pita with my brunch fish platter rather than a bagel). And once, when my friends were visiting, I brought a party of 8 people, all of whom grew up in Detroit which has probably the best Greektown in the country) and everyone raved about it the whole time they were in town. So much so, we had to go back a second time even though there are plenty of Philly restaurants to choose from. The waiter surprised us all by bringing us a free dessert (a huge slab of custard cake) which we all dug into with relish. If you haven't tried it, I HIGHLY recommend it."

  • "Three of us were more than pleased with dinner following Phantom of the Opera. One of our group has difficulty walking so proximity to Academy and to Bellevue parking was a plus. The food was excellent - truly delicious, from salad to a heavenly dessert. Our waitress was pleasant & competent. Thanks!"

  • "the service was excellent, our waiter Andros was spot on. . the selection was refreshing. they even had a theater special for those on a budget. although it was busy and crowded, we were not made to feel rushed or cramped.. ."

  • "We had tickets for the theatre and were running a few minutes late. We didn't have to fret about our reservation as we were still seated, without attitude, after being 15 minutes late. We had excellent service from our server, Joe. We let him know we had tickets for the show and all we had to worry about was what to choose from the menu. The food was delicious and presented nicely. My only regret is that I didn't have room to eat something else. I will be back and next time I'll be bringing friends."

  • "I moved to Philadelphia recently, and just had dinner with my family here for the first time. We're Greek so wanted a good authentic Greek restaurant. Definitely found our spot and we will absolutely be back. About as authentic as it gets. I don't write reviews often, but this place deserves it. I can't say enough good things about our experience. Go, you will not be disappointed."

  • "Estia is my favorite restaurant to go to when I have theater tickets . food is always consistently great and so is the service. The are gluten friendly for my family members that require that diet."

  • "My wife and I had a light dinner before attending a concert at the Kimmel Center. The food was very good and the service was discreetly attentive. We were seated in an alcove off the main dining floor so we were out of the main traffic flow. Estia has a comfortable seating arrangement with ample room to navigate among the tables for both employees and patrons. Our reservations were for 5:30 so we were there before the main dinner seating. At that time the restaurant was quiet and relaxed Overall ambience, in my opinion, tends towards the romantically elegant. I do not elieve this would be the place for a family dinner with youngsters."

  • "Amazing food! Everything we ate was delicious, hummus, a variety of dips, spanakopita, papoutsakia, and moussaka. Only complaint is that our attentive waiter seemed to disappear as soon as he had a party of six seated. Would definitely come back for the food alone!"

  • "This is a great restaurant in the theater district. First question asked is 'what time do you need to be wherever?' They mak sure you are served promptly, table is cleared regularly and food is hot. Wine was delicious."

  • "Used to be one of the absolute best fish restaurants in Phila. Now run like a tourist trap. Substituted a younger (less valuable) wine for what I asked for, until I pointed it out. I usually splurge for the Dover sole, and clearly something else (funny, they used to show you the fish you were going to eat, no longer). Table way too small for two people. Very rushed at first (apps were there, obviously grilled octopus and sardines had been sitting around, got there long before the wine), and then we couldn't get the bill to pay and make it to the theatre on time. What a disappointment, I used to love this place."

  • "THe appetizers were amazing! Best feta cheese I've ever had, and they really know how to cook squid and octopus. However, the entrees were way too salty. Also, it was a bit noisy. I am anxious to go back!"

  • "We went with a group of 10 after a show at the Academy of Music. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and were seated within minutes of our reservation time. The atmosphere was very elegant and inviting. They were very customer centric. The presentation of the food was balanced and prepared to perfection. Estia had autnentic Greek flare. We would strongly recommend Estia to anyone who would like to experience a night of relaxation and fine dining. Already planning a return visit!"

  • "The food was excellent however we were disappointed that they ran out of sea bass by 6pm. This was a special meal for a birthday celebration. We shared the snapper instead which was very good."

  • "It was Sunday afternoon and more crowded than I have seen it. The food and service were very good but the noise level a bit much."

  • "We ordered off the theater menu. This made the dinner quick, and inexpensive for what it was ($60/person including a $65 bottle of wine, salad, dessert, and tip). Our waiter recommended an excellent Greek red wine. The fish of the day was Bronzino and it was excellent. My braised lamb shank was very nicely spiced."

  • "When I was stationed in South Korea, I took a trip to Greece and the food at Estia's reminded me of the meals I ate there. One could practically taste the fresh ingredients utilized in the food preparation. Absolutely delicious."

  • "Fantastic food using fresh ingredients. Always perfectly prepared. The appetizers are so incredible that you could eat only those, but you won't because the lamb chops are the best in the city and the seafood is out of this world. The experience begins with a friendly greeting at the front door. Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. Sparkling clean bathrooms. Consistently excellent."

  • "This was one of those "experiences" that you never forget. When we asked our waiter about a specialty drink of the house and what was in it, he suggested we Google it and said, "That's why search engines were created". It went down hill from there. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks, asked for bread twice before it arrived, never got our appetizer and had our entrees delivered 1 hour after being seated. I shared my displeasure with the waiter and the matre'd came over to apologize, blaming it on the kitchen. He offered a complimentary dessert to make up for the mistake, but it really was too late. Bottom line...food and ambience were very good. The service was so bad and obnoxious that I will not go back."

    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "You can plan either a leisurely lunch or an "in and out" business lunch. Allows one to have good Mediterranean food on a lunch hour time limit ... and if there is an "unloading" of show scenery or equipment for the Music Academy a truly exciting view too!"

  • "Estia is in exactly the right spot for a pre or post show dinner. The food is good often very good. The service is business like, pleasant and effective. The pricing is right on for Center City Philadelphia and the pre-theater menu is a good deal with just the right amount of food to carry one through the show and not create a post dinner stupor."

  • "Very good food. SAhrimp saganakia excellent with 6 succulent shrimp and a delicious tomato based sauce with just enough kick. Very good service."

  • "We went before the theater and had the $30 fixed price menu - it was absolutely wonderful! Add a glass of wine or a mojito and you can't go wrong. Loved the food, service and ambience!!"

  • "First, I accidently made reservations for the day before and fortunately, hostess was understanding and was able to accommodate our reservation for brunch. We were there early (11AM when just opening) so it was not overly packed. Love their champagne brunch which includes a free breakfast cocktail. Had the steak and eggs. Minor issue was that waiter never asked me how I like my eggs and steak and I did not even think about telling him either. The preparation of meal was not what I typically order but it was fantastic anyway! My fellow guests also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Perfect place to eat for brunch or dinner either before or after the theatre across the street! It truly is the favorite place to eat while attending theatre."

  • "Whenever we visit Philly we always stop at Estia for a fabulous lunch. After visiting the excellent Pompei exhibit, we had late lunch here and enjoyed our usual grilled octopus and sardines, and a gorgeous country Greek salad. The octopus here was among the best we've ever had, tender and tasty. The bronzino, fish of the day, was incredibly fresh, moist, and wonderful. The prices are a bit high, but the quality is worth it. We like to try the various Greek wines. Servers always have great suggestions."
