Esquire TavernWhat a great find! Was inWhat a great find! Was in town on business and stumbled upon this awesome place. Loved the vibe and the food. Highly recommend.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMa whole lotta empanada! We had great food at the Esquire when we were there! The tastes were complex without being overdone. My husband had the chicken salad- and I had the empanada. He tried mine and tried to eat the whole thing! Our service was a bit off- we both had empty water glasses for more than 15 minutes, and my husband was going to order another beer- but after waiting for another 20 (25?) minutes for the waitress to come back to the table- gave up. The check was the quickest thing to the table.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner before the showWe went to the Esquire for dinner before the symphony. The bar is dark and noisy. I had to use a flashlight on my phone to order. The pride themselves on "Old World" style Cocktails. They are outstanding! if you order anything other than a beer you might have to wait a bit but it will be worth it. The food is clever and delicious. Great place for people watching.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMUnsure at first, but was wrong! Not being from town, I read about the bar on a review and wanted to check it out. We wanted a quick and inexpensive place before a show. It said they had "bar food", which my husband and I assumed was wings and burgers. When we first arrived, we liked the space, but still weren't too sure how we felt about being there. We were more than pleased when we received our food! We were not expecting gourmet! It was delicious! The bar has great food which is well priced and great decor. We definitely would go back!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! My husband and I went for our anniversary. Making a reservation was the good part. We had Joey as our waiter and he was so fun! I would recommend the bacon cheeseburger. It was delicious! They make their own pickles and ketchup! You could taste the freshness! It was just an overall great experience for us.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNot-so-hidden gemMy boyfriend and I really enjoyed our visit to the Esquire Tavern. We loved the chili salt fries as an app. We both had different cocktails and loved the creativity and the strength. For dinner we both had the smoked chicken mole but it was tough to settle on an option when looking at the menu. The decor, including many examples of taxidermy, is unique and gives the place a unique vibe. It's right on the Riverwalk so it's a quick walk to many places. We were really glad we went here.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome mixed drink menu, but...... clearly need to add to the wine list, 4 selections is a little light. Try the Wagu beef, it was awesome.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find!I wasn't expecting to find organic bison, grass-fed burgers, and such amazing service on the riverwalk, but there it was. Even though it's "a bar", it's really more of a pub, in the classic european sense. We brought our kids, who loved their food, and the ambience was totally fine for them.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI am hookedStaff was great food ROCKED! Happy hour specials were awesome. Left there feeling three pounds heavier i had to try every appetizer. For the most part quiet except for a noisy group behind us, but they were having fun :)5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service; willGreat food and service; will definitely bring friends back!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWould I recommend EsquireWould I recommend Esquire Tavern? Already have... The food was fantastic, from the Deviled Eggs to the Steak Sandwich. One of the best Bacon Cheeseburgers I have had. Hand crafted cocktails were very good and service very friendly. The only disappointments were they were out of apple pie and that I don't live in San Antonio so that I can eat here more often!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
