At Espetus, dining is a sensory experience of culinary style and variety. As a true Brazilian steakhouse, Espetus - which means skewer in Portuguese - features Churrasco techniques. This culinary tradition dates back three centuries, when gauchos, or Southern Brazilian cowboys, slowly roasted meat over open flame pits. For a prix fixe, all-inclusive price, diners select their favorites from unlimited premium choices like steak, lamb, pork or chicken, brought straight from grill to table. Incredible side dishes range from fresh salads to specialties like paella. The sleek, modern surroundings are accented with oil paintings of life in the Brazilian highlands. At the marble-topped bar, there’s a large, chilled jar of homemade sangria and extensive local and imported wines, with Malbec a favorite.   • "My husband and I are brazilians and wanted to celebrate our wedding with a group of friends. We got married at the SF city hall and walked there after the ceremony. they were accomodating of a couple of friends with a 1 year old, very attentive to service and to us having a great time. They were always keeping an eye on my husband and I to make sure we had the meat we liked, enough drinks, etc. SUPER NICE! My sweet friend also surprised me with a nice wedding cake, which she dropped off before the ceremony, at lunch time. They organized it and presented it to us as if we had just ordered from the restaurant! They did charge a cake fee, but it was only 2 dollars per person, very fair! I loved my experience there!"

  • "It is very confusing how this restaurant rates so high. The service was decent and so were the drinks. That is it!! All the meat brought to us for over half of our visit was well cooked. We kept asking for rare and medium rare and were told there is not any right now. Even worse was the fact that all the beef selection and lamb tasted exactly identical. The chicken was extremely DRY and so was the pork. I have visited Churrascaria's all over the world and this ranks very close to the bottom of the list."

  • "This was the perfect place to take my dad who is a true carnivore. He also loves going to buffets where he can pack away as much food as he can (and he sure did here!). The meat selections were all amazing and we would find ourselves flipping over the stop and go card constantly when we see something really good approaching. The salad bar was very good and had a lot of variety so that everyone in our party were able to pick and choose their favorites. My favorite that night was the flap steak and the barbecued pineapple. I had a late lunch so I wasn't able to stuff myself silly, but I will definitely remember to do that next time!"

But all you can eat meat carved table side was a little over the top. I'd rather go to Bob's or Alfred's and just get a great steak with all the sides. Glad we went...once. Not likely to return. I love the food, the ability to turn delivery "off" and "on" when we choose, the variety, the flavor palate! And the caipirinha! This was my first time dining since a rearrangement of the salad, rice etc. buffet and this arrangement is so much better. We were there for a long time in a very good table location, with drinks before dinner; everything was great and we all had a good time."

  • "I took my fiance to lunch here for his birthday. The food was phenomenal and the service was outstanding. This also ended up being the only meal we ate all day because we gorged ourselves on the amazing appetizers, salad bar selections, and of course, the meats. I think in total, we tried about 14 meats and a grilled pineapple. The appetizers are complimentary and endless--we loved the fried bananas and cheese puffs. The drinks were pricey, but delish. The wait and service staff were extremely attentive, polite, and informative. What a great experience. I can't stop talking about it and I'm looking forward to going again!"

  • "I have been to a Churrascaria before (Fogo de Chao) so I understood the type of meal, but had not been to Espetus before. It seemed like the closest restaurant of that type without being a bad knockoff and so I went with friends for my birthday. The food was fantastic, but that wasn't a huge surprise. The service was on par, if not better. You couldn't get your water glass half empty without it being refilled. Several times during the meal our server checked on us and asked if we needed anything. Other servers approached us to see if we had any requests for particular meats to come back. In short, we were left wanting for nothing. All requests were accommodated and the servers were beyond polite. It was wonderful."

  • "Wow, what an awesome dinner! The MEAT was stellar. Love how they bring skewers or kabob style slabs of meat to your table and you get to pick by the fresh slice. The waiters are skilled with their blades so they can slice it just enough and you can grab it with your private tongs. You can turn on/off your "more meat" indicator so you're not inundated without a chance to take a bite. The salad bar was decent with lots of selections but hey, who is here to be a vegetarian? This is about the MEAT! Desert was awesome as well. Grilled Pineapple! Only downside: we had a window seat so when the homeless wandered by, it wasn't a great view and you might feel bad for splurging on such a great meal. Dress code was anything from blue jeans to suits."

  • "The lamb chop and lamb shank did not have the same game taste as I have usually tasted, but everything else was off the charts. All their beef cuts were absolutely mouthwatering and delicious. Chicken and pork were second tier to that of the beef cuts, but worth a try for first timers. I have never tasted such a pineapple. It was like a starburst of pineapple and it really surprised me how juicy it was and how much flavor was in grilled pineapple. Also note they discontinued the shrimp."
