A word from Espetus Churrascaria - San Francisco
At Espetus, dining is a sensory experience of culinary style and variety. As a true Brazilian steakhouse, Espetus - which means skewer in Portuguese - features Churrasco techniques. This culinary tradition dates back three centuries, when gauchos, or Southern Brazilian cowboys, slowly roasted meat over open flame pits. For a prix fixe, all-inclusive price, diners select their favorites from unlimited premium choices like steak, lamb, pork or chicken, brought straight from grill to table. Incredible side dishes range from fresh salads to specialties like paella. The sleek, modern surroundings are accented with oil paintings of life in the Brazilian highlands. At the marble-topped bar, there’s a large, chilled jar of homemade sangria and extensive local and imported wines, with Malbec a favorite. You can also try the Brazilian national cocktail, the Caipirinha. Dining at Espetus is nothing less than a feast of traditional Brazilian flavors. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "What a wonderful experience. I will surely be coming in again. The salad bar was amazing and almost too much before all the meats were brought around. Pace yourself. The lamb and fillet were incredible"

  • "Probably will not return to this location just because of the healthy sf tax/fee. I will drive the extra 30 minutes to the other location or a different restaurant to avoid it."

  • "If you like meat, this place is for you. Some of the steak should be cooked less (rare) and the lamb was a little chewy, but all in all it is a great meal"

  • "Espetus can be defined as and intimate and or social scene that is great for those who have an appetite for an eclectic line of meats. The salad bar has a phenomenal Brazilian roster of side dishes with a twist. I love this place and know that others will also enjoy."

  • "Espetus was a goal restaurant, so I had my boss take me there, b/c I knew I didn't want to spend $55 (flat rate, it's all you can eat) on dinner for myself. Turns out I'd go back, but only on someone else's dime: I suspect that the steep price tag has to do with the experience, with kind and generous waiters schlepping around huge skewers on which all manner of meats repose, ready for your ravenous tasting. Pig, cow, lamb, and fowl in various forms are deliciously spiced and grilled, then sliced hot right onto your plate, for as long as your stomach can keep up with your eyes! There's also a fresh and varied salad and veggie bar, but for $55, you kind of want to make it a meatarian meal."

  • "The meats where fantastic. Super tender meats (my husband cant stop talking about the lamb). Salad bar always looks fresh /clean. I never feel rushed."

  • "I went here 2 years ago and loved the place, my boyfriend and I celebrated our 5th year anniversary here and it was well worth it. I didn't have anything requested from the staff but they were friendly and hospitable. They came to your table every 5 to 30 mins to see if we're doing okay. All in all I'll be back here and recommend it to friends and family. Also $54+ for unlimited me is very well worth paying."

  • "Food was again of high standard, but service poor. Had booked via open table and made us wait 30 minutes before taking us to our table."

  • "This is such a fun evening and the food is amazing! I always try to visit a Brazilian BBQ whenever I'm in a big city and this was one of the good ones. Rookie mistake: Don't fill up on the salad bar! The ONLY disappointment was we normally get our own stop and go cards and it's really fun! This restaurant had one for the entire table. We could never agree when to flip it to GO or STOP! But, it was far easier for the Gaucho's, I think. Well done restaurant. We really enjoyed our experience and that included the entire party!"

  • "I took my fiance for a birthday surprise. He really loves great food; and enjoyed this as well. He'd never gone to such an upscale eattery and loved everything about it. The surprise was just that indeed a surprise. The food was fantastic and the presentation was great."

  • "Great concept and well executed! My only knock was that you don't know what the price is until you get your bill but it was well worth it since everything was deliicious and so plentiful. Definitely an "occaction" restaurant" but I'll find a reason to come back to enjoy this again."

  • "While traveling on spring break we decided to go to Espetus Churrascaria. The ambience is good, the staff is awesome and the food is out of this world. We will definitely be stopping here the next time we're in San Francisco."

  • "Even though you're in a pretty dodgy area. The windows keep the sound out. Had a Fire Truck fly by and could barely hear it. The vegetable, salad bar etc., was filled with a plethora of yummy stuff. The over all time was nice and staff were friendly. The $200 bill was a bit higher then I wished but hey meats take time to prep and in the long run because of the company, was worth it. But just drive there or be aware of the neighborhood. I live in Oakland and was quickly reminded why I now live there. There was a Drunken homeless fight with one guy pulling out a screwdriver. If your into a fight night with good carnivorous foods. This is the place for you."

  • "As a Brazilian I was very glad to go to Espetus Churrascaria, it remind me from home and how we have the best food in all world. The beans and the farofa was outstanding. The service was very good."

  • "After a 60 minute bart trip, I was hoping the experience at Espetus was worth the time invested. I wasn't disappointed, although there were a few cuts of meat that were a little chewy, most were prepared very well and were quite succulent.. The filet mignon and Parmesan steak were my favorites. The Salad bar had a great variety and also included some prepared main dishes like Salmon and Pork that were delicious. I will be going back for sure, but not so soon since the entire family ate way too much."

  • "Wonderful salad bar but then it about ended. The only redeeming meat was the signature sirloin. The rest was overdone and tasted bland. No sauce for dipping and too much tough meat. The lamb tasted like mutton and we could not even eat that. Overall a VERY expensive failure."

  • "I've known of this place for over 6 years now and it had not occur to me to try it until I had huge argument with my other half. I knew that I had to take her out somewhere elegant and new. I did not expect anything too much from this place, but after about an hour, we agreed that the food and service was extraordinary. Because of the experience we had, we definitely made up and will be planning to come back in the near future."

  • "We came for the meat, and Espetus did not disappoint. The service was warm, courteous and highly efficient. We delighted in the copious variety of select, quality cuts of beef, lamb, pork and chicken, that arrived frequently, and were sliced off the skewers at our table. And every offering was a tender, delicious treat, prepared with flavorful seasonings and glazes; perfectly (really) prepared and presented. The buffet was notable for fresh produce, nice & tasty, if not spectacular, prepared salads, and a hot table. We went light on this: we had come for the churrascaria. We left a little room for dessert and ordered the passion fruit mousse - delicious, and serving large enough for two to share. Cudos to Espetus for a great evening!"

  • "This was my 2nd visit and first for family. We all loved the food. The only issue for my senior father, a true carnivore, was to get steak more well done. It was too rare for his palate. Great salad bar esp mango salad, salmon. I would like a selectin of fat free, sugar free salad dressings. A picky eating teen liked meet choices. The servers were very cordial, friendly, photo friendly. Celebrated bday of Mom, a picky eater, and she loved it. Too easy to over indulge"

  • "A buddy and I decided to go there since we missed it before from a previous guy's night out. Food was excellent if you're a meat eater like us, it was very good. The sliced portions seemed small but by the time you went through their meat menu, you, or perhaps I should say I, was full and their dessert of mango pudding was excellent! One thing that they didn't allow as a restaurant policy is a "doggie bag"! My buddy was upset for that because he wanted to feed his dog the scraps (no kidding they were scraps)! I do understand "why" they don't as a restaurant policy so that put a little damper on our dinner experience there. They should state that on the menu in writing! The wait staff was attentive and very good. Don-SF"

  • "This was our first experience at a Brazilian steak House had heard much about it. We went for valentines day the food was really delicious fresh and the meats where tender and well seasoned. The staff was really friendly, I was overall pleased with the experience and will definitely go back again."

  • "The food was great & there was a plethora of it. The all-you-can-eat menu included a salad bar that was much more than a salad bar - including many side dishes that could be entrees. The 'meat sliced off the stick' that was brought around to each table by the multitude of servers was delicious. Eating at this restaurant is about much more than food - it is a unique dining experience."

  • "This is a meat place, various cuts of beef, lamb, pork, chicken cut from scewers at your table. No menu is presented, you accept the choices offered - or not. Might be wise to ask about the price beforehand so you don't suffer "sticker shock" when you go to pay the bill (about $90 a person with one or two drinks). Worth the experience."

  • "I took my family here fore my daughters 17th birthday, we had a party of 12 including a baby. I had a reservation for 10 and the restaurant was happy to accommodate the unexpected extra guests. Now to the food, I can't say enough about how delicious the food was. All the meat was easoned and cooked to perfection. The side dish and salad buffet had many yummy choice that all of our group (ages 15-67) found many items we feel in love with. We are already planning our next dinner here."
