A word from Espetus Churrascaria - San Francisco
At Espetus, dining is a sensory experience of culinary style and variety. As a true Brazilian steakhouse, Espetus - which means skewer in Portuguese - features Churrasco techniques. This culinary tradition dates back three centuries, when gauchos, or Southern Brazilian cowboys, slowly roasted meat over open flame pits. For a prix fixe, all-inclusive price, diners select their favorites from unlimited premium choices like steak, lamb, pork or chicken, brought straight from grill to table. Incredible side dishes range from fresh salads to specialties like paella. The sleek, modern surroundings are accented with oil paintings of life in the Brazilian highlands. At the marble-topped bar, there’s a large, chilled jar of homemade sangria and extensive local and imported wines, with Malbec a favorite. You can also try the Brazilian national cocktail, the Caipirinha. Dining at Espetus is nothing less than a feast of traditional Brazilian flavors. Continued

  • "My friends and I came for my birthday dinner. Our server and all of the gaucho carvers were extremely nice. My son liked his meat a little more dead and they were able to cook it a little longer for him. Overall great experience."

  • "I have benen to a couple of Brazilian steakhouses before and I love the concept and the food so I had pretty high expectations goding to Espetus. Unfortunately I was dissapointed. The service was good and friendly an the sallad/side buffet was pretty good, bit unfortunately the meat wasn't. I had at least one piece of almost every kind and ony one that I liked was the Serloin (the first serving) the rest was tastless and aften overcoocked."

  • "This is a steak house... Not especially great for a foodie. The salad bar was quite nice. The meat was good, but not worth the price. Service was very good."

  • "The staff at espetus was amazing. I made a reservation, they seated me within 5 minutes. The staff immediately gave me water, explained how a Brazilian stake house works and ordered my drinks really quickly. The food and selection of meat was excellent. I will return!"

  • "This is my second time at Espetus - SF. Both experiences were great -- friendly and attentive staff, restaurant was clean and presentable, meats were prepared to a nice "done-ness". Some of them were a bit on the saltier side but still great. I would suggest this restaurant for special occasions. Expect to eat a lot. Great food and great service does not come cheap!"

  • "We have been coming to Espetus for over 10 years and have never been disappointed. Hands down best Churrascaria in the Bay Area. Flavors are so consistent and the selection of meats is wonderful. We look forward to every next visit!"

  • "If you're a red meat lover, you definitely need to try! Their salad bar has an amazing and exotic variety as well! I also fell in love with their cheeseball appetizers :)"

  • "We've been to many churascurias, and the food quality here is excellent. Watch the caiperinos, tho. At $11/per, the bar bill adds up quickly."

  • "Such an amazing Resturant, my Boyfriend and I were very impressed and pleased, from the service to the delicious food (FOODPORN). Definitely coming back 😊"

  • "A delicious selection of meats, sides and drinks! A little pricey, but totally worth it."

  • "- Overall: * Everything was fine, but not extraordinary, which didn't justify the $85 per person price tag (dinner + 1 glass of wine + tax and tip). * I might go back if the dinner price were $35 (instead of $55). - Food: * Great variety on the buffet, but again, not mind blowing. * The various cuts of meat were hit and miss in terms of flavor and texture. - Service: * We never had to wait long, and the waiters would send over specific cuts of meat upon request. - Ambience: * A lot more casual than I expected."

  • "We've been coming to Espetus for about five years, and the high quality of the experience has remained consistent."

  • "My husband and I are brazilians and wanted to celebrate our wedding with a group of friends. We got married at the SF city hall and walked there after the ceremony. they were accomodating of a couple of friends with a 1 year old, very attentive to service and to us having a great time. They were always keeping an eye on my husband and I to make sure we had the meat we liked, enough drinks, etc. SUPER NICE! My sweet friend also surprised me with a nice wedding cake, which she dropped off before the ceremony, at lunch time. They organized it and presented it to us as if we had just ordered from the restaurant! They did charge a cake fee, but it was only 2 dollars per person, very fair! I loved my experience there!"

  • "It is very confusing how this restaurant rates so high. The service was decent and so were the drinks. That is it!! All the meat brought to us for over half of our visit was well cooked. We kept asking for rare and medium rare and were told there is not any right now. Even worse was the fact that all the beef selection and lamb tasted exactly identical. The chicken was extremely DRY and so was the pork. I have visited Churrascaria's all over the world and this ranks very close to the bottom of the list."

  • "This was the perfect place to take my dad who is a true carnivore. He also loves going to buffets where he can pack away as much food as he can (and he sure did here!). The meat selections were all amazing and we would find ourselves flipping over the stop and go card constantly when we see something really good approaching. The salad bar was very good and had a lot of variety so that everyone in our party were able to pick and choose their favorites. My favorite that night was the flap steak and the barbecued pineapple. I had a late lunch so I wasn't able to stuff myself silly, but I will definitely remember to do that next time!"

  • "I have now dined here four times and each time was excellent. The food is impeccable and the meat selection and flavor is intoxicating.I would recommend this to any meat lover as one of the great steakhouses in San Francisco."

  • "This place is definitely for the meat lovers. The meat selection was by far the best variety out of all the brazilian steakhouses. Everything was cooked to perfection and served to your liking. The service was impecable and really catered to the customer. We never lacked for anything The salad bar had great selections, very fresh and tasty but not quite as a variety. It was definitely enough to compliment the meat selections. I can't wait to go again!"

  • "Some of the best meat you can have in town Try the passion fruit flavored mousse. Maybe the best sweet in SF."

  • "Very good food, I can't even put it into words how good it was. Worth every penny. They didn't have my reservation I did through open table but they were able to find us a table quickly. "

  • "The best food of the town, was good but the restaurant must have a valet parking, the gauchos knows about his job."

  • "I took my fiance to lunch here for his birthday. The food was phenomenal and the service was outstanding. This also ended up being the only meal we ate all day because we gorged ourselves on the amazing appetizers, salad bar selections, and of course, the meats. I think in total, we tried about 14 meats and a grilled pineapple. The appetizers are complimentary and endless--we loved the fried bananas and cheese puffs. The drinks were pricey, but delish. The wait and service staff were extremely attentive, polite, and informative. What a great experience. I can't stop talking about it and I'm looking forward to going again!"

  • "Been here once before. Had such a pleasant experience definite must return! Even if I had to make up a special reason to! Tried making a reservation here last year. Was so booked I could not find an open date then! Huge disappointment then! Not so this time around! Don't ask me why! Would return again if doable!"

  • "I have been to Espetus 5-7 times now. I keep thinking I should try other places but I just can't pass it up. The salad bar alone could be my favorite restaurant! The cuts of meat are delicious and it is hard to save room to try as many as I want. I guess I will be coming back for years!"

  • "I have been to a Churrascaria before (Fogo de Chao) so I understood the type of meal, but had not been to Espetus before. It seemed like the closest restaurant of that type without being a bad knockoff and so I went with friends for my birthday. The food was fantastic, but that wasn't a huge surprise. The service was on par, if not better. You couldn't get your water glass half empty without it being refilled. Several times during the meal our server checked on us and asked if we needed anything. Other servers approached us to see if we had any requests for particular meats to come back. In short, we were left wanting for nothing. All requests were accommodated and the servers were beyond polite. It was wonderful."

  • "An exceptional dining experience for those who crave excellent cuts of meat and a hefty salad and carb bar to accompany it. This place has no equal. Set your taste buds to stunned! "

  • "I can recommend this excellent way of grilled meat very much. "
    Dined on 5/18/2014
  • "Wow, what an awesome dinner! The MEAT was stellar. Love how they bring skewers or kabob style slabs of meat to your table and you get to pick by the fresh slice. The waiters are skilled with their blades so they can slice it just enough and you can grab it with your private tongs. You can turn on/off your "more meat" indicator so you're not inundated without a chance to take a bite. The salad bar was decent with lots of selections but hey, who is here to be a vegetarian? This is about the MEAT! Desert was awesome as well. Grilled Pineapple! Only downside: we had a window seat so when the homeless wandered by, it wasn't a great view and you might feel bad for splurging on such a great meal. Dress code was anything from blue jeans to suits."

  • "Is this place for real? A little expensive but worth every cent. Every cut of beef, pork, or chicken possessed different flavors. Service was very attentive. I would recommend this place in a heart beat."
    Dined on 5/18/2014
  • "The lamb chop and lamb shank did not have the same game taste as I have usually tasted, but everything else was off the charts. All their beef cuts were absolutely mouthwatering and delicious. Chicken and pork were second tier to that of the beef cuts, but worth a try for first timers. I have never tasted such a pineapple. It was like a starburst of pineapple and it really surprised me how juicy it was and how much flavor was in grilled pineapple. Also note they discontinued the shrimp."
