  • "The worst service ever. We had a reservation at 7pm. At 830 pm we were still not seated at our table, and yet there were tables open. The "manager" had to be all of 18 years old and clearly had no idea what he was doing. We ended up going across the street because we were so hungry. I would NEVER go back"

  • "We literally had all 3 rounds of our drink glasses stacked on our table throughout our dinner....it became a running joke throughout our meal. Drinks were poorly made. Food decent but overshadowed by a server who rarely came by. The restaurant wasn't even 50% full to excuse his lack of attention."

  • "Good food. A first time for the friends we brought. They enjoyed themselves, as did we. The small features allowed us to taste a variety from the the menu and leisurely eat and chat for almost four hours. It was a great evening."

  • "The meal overall was great. My sister, girl friend, and I got a groupon online. It allowed us to explore a lot more options :) If I had gone without the groupon I don't think I would have been able to try as much. Even though they were small plates, it filled me up! Overall, a good evening :)"

  • "Terrible, tasteless, overpriced food served after 35 minutes of waiting. Will not return."

  • "Very good Tapas and Paella. I'd definitely go here again to continue to try new items on the menu. Good Sangrias and wine list too."

  • "Fun place to taste some wonderful tapas and lots of interesting sangrias!"

  • "Customer service was very poor for various reasons: they sat our party at a table that still needed to be bussed, repeatedly asked for cloth napkins, it took forever for a waiter to come, no bread at table to hold us over until our order was taken, he told us our food came out as they cooked it so we couldn't have it all out at once, didn't ask how our food was and lastly was charged a 21% gratuity when service was horrible. Every table that was vacant needed to be bussed and families were leaving because of the slow service."

  • "I made reservations for this restaurant in advance for 9 people and when we showed up on time, there was a 10 minute wait so they could clean some tables (which was fine.) When we sat down, we were given menus and told our server would be there "soon." Literally 30 minutes passed with not one single person coming back to even say sorry for the wait. One of the people in our party approached the bar just to ask for someone to bring us some water. This was a bachelorette party and we had a huge list of things to do for the night. I felt VERY disappointed that we wasted so much time at this place. After we finally got some water, we waited another 15 minutes with NOBODY coming to take our order. TERRIBLE service, we all just got up and left."

  • "We LOVED it here!! Great entertainment and the food was delicious. Even though you don't get a lot of food with the Tapa's, everything was over flowing with taste!"

  • "My wife and I eat out fairly often and we look forward to new experiences. While we were greeted and seated promptly, things went downhill quickly. We ordered two plates as starters and after we began eating them a third plate arrived. Turns out that one of the two we didn't order. Shame on us for not realizing that. That was the first of 6, or more, plates that were seeking a home by servers who seemed confused as they attempted to deliver them to tables that hadn't ordered them. It was actually comical, although not a recipe for success. The food was just okay. This isn't a restaurant we'll give a second chance. There are way too many good restaurants in Milwaukee."

  • "The service was poor, the food was constantly late (a problem for a restaurant that serves small plates) and so were the drinks. The food itself was mediocre - I am an amateur cook and I can probably do as well or even better on most of the dishes served for a fraction of the cost. My advice: try someplace else."

  • "Went here with a groupon and had a great experience.Large menu, tasty food ( although a lot of potatoes ), and great service.Restaurant is nicely decorated, good views, wonderful bar area and cozy booths for four. The drinks are varied and tasty. We will definitely be back to try some other menu items, maybe just for drinks and some conversation.A very wonderful find, easy to get to,found street parking also !"

  • "We were excited to try this restaurant and have the small plate experience that they offered. Unlike other small-plate restaurants, this one didn't provide any indication on how many items each plate would come with. And the waitstaff didn't really offer that information up. The food was very good - but we left hungry and feeling a bit like the food wasn't as good as the amount of money we spent."

  • "Went to Espana Tapas this past weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were in a group of 8 adults, and we can sometimes be a little bit loud. Our waiter took everything in stride. He laughed and joked with us and gave good food recommendations. My only complaint is that there were no prices listed next to the sangrias. After our food orders and 5 pitchers of sangria, our bill was well over $400. Other than that, the food and drink were very good, and I would definitely go back again."

  • "This was our third or fourth visit. We've always gotten good food, good wine and friendly service. This applies to when it was crowded or when we came in with a Groupon."

  • "If you can't get to Spain, try downtown Milwaukee. There are many, many different tapas (small plates) from which to choose as well as 7 types of sangria. Espana Tapas House is a place to go to experience the rather unusual (for most people) choice of food. The wait staff is helpful and will explain the food choices and bring them to your table in a timely manner. The atmosphere could be a bit more exotic/romantic rather than like a coffee shop, albeit a very nice one. Try it and you will like it."

  • "We had a 7 PM reservation on a Saturday night. As we approached the door, the sign was turned off and we were told they could not seat us. They had run out of food!"

  • "I was referred to this restaurant by some of my coworkers, as a fun place to grab some yummy, different food. I am a huge fan of Tapas style food and I was really excited to check this place out! Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. More than half of the menu was unavailable, as in OUT OF STOCK! The food took an excessive amount of time to get to us. And then when it did get to us, it was just so-so and very small portions (and yes I know it is a small plates place, small portions for small plates) As we were leaving (at 7:15pm on a Saturday) they had already locked the doors and were not accepting any more customers for the night. Overall, I was disappointed in the experience."

  • "This restaurant is our latest find. We are tired of trying in vain to make reservations in other tapas restaurants on a Friday night. This one was not crowded and the ambiance was wonderful - very Spanish/ North African. We had a delicious salad and a lamb chop / couscous. The service was excellent."

  • "I went with a group of friends with a reservation for 12. We ordered drinks and they came out one at a time and they got my wine order wrong and I had to go to talk to the bartender. Our food came out at all different times and two of my friends didn't have any food delivered until most of us had 2-3 tapas. The food is very good but the service was definitely lacking."

  • "I cannot stress enough that our waiter was awful who spoiled entire evening. We wanted to complain but we are not that kind of people, but one would think coming to such restaurant would be a great evening, and here...Nicholas spoiled everything... Shame..."

  • "This is a charming spot located near the Milwaukee Centre and easily accessible with parking, etc. Having dined at many Tapas restaurants from Napa Valley to Washington DC., we truly hoped that this would be the same kind of dining experience. It was okay; none of the dishes were more than okay. Our salads were pungent with raw onion that distracted from the corn and other ingredients, the shrimp was overcooked and tough, the lamb was tough, the omelet was bland, the wine list was missing information pertaining to the varietal, region, vintage, etc. There were only a few tables occupied and yet we had to wait to have our water goblets re-filled and wait to ask for additional dishes and glasses of wine."

  • "Half an hour to get a glass of wine ("there is a long line at the bar," said the waitperson). Order six tapas, after one and a half hours have received three. The asparagus tapas was 4 thin pieces. The mushrooms were clearly out of a can. The two scallops were OK. The "gambas al ajillo" were not "al ajillo." The six people at the next table walked out after an hour in which they received only one plate. The waitress told us there was a lot of trouble in the kitchen. Meantime the boss or owner is sitting with friends in the restaurant, chatting. Our waitress who seemed to be doing her best was inexplicably removed and replaced with someone else at the very end of our meal. NEVER go here!"

  • "We had a reservation for a show. Our waiter couldn't just wait to get rid off us. Water was a luxury, and anything you ask seem like a big favor. When we were still having last drink, he asked us to pay and we never seen him again but we didn't finish with dinner."

  • "If entertainment is more important to you than strong flavor, this restaurant is a great option. The flamenco dancing was skillful and entertaining. She used fans, hats, castanets, shawls and of course tap shoes. The guitarist/singer had the appropriate vocal style for the music, which was a nice combination of Spanish classics and some recognizable numbers from the popular Gypsy Kings. The pomegranate sangría was excellent and the flourless chocolate cake and Tres Leches cake were out of this world! My only criticisms are that the food was on the bland side for my taste, but that is personal preference. And, that we were charged $ 1.50 for one serving of bread...boo. Bread should always be complementary."

  • "Review in a nutshell: * Servers did not know the menu * Servers were not consistently/properly dressed * Owner was wearing torn jeans * Food was mediocre and not representative of proper tapas * Took nearly 20 minutes to get the first drink (we had reservations) * Took nearly 50 minutes to get food * We cut our eating off early in order to go to a restaurant for dinner since we were hungry and less than happy Nice location, nice space, poorly operated if there are more than 10 people in the joint. Would never go again or recommend a friend. Oh yes - the owner was a condescending d---."

  • "As always, the various sangrias are a treat to enjoy with a dinner of shared small plates. Most of our old favorites are there and delicious as always. We tried a few new things from the "Specials" menu and one of the Morrocan treats, as well. The only complaint would be that we'd like to see "number of pieces" beside the items on the menu. There were five of us sharing our tapas and we would have ordered two of a couple of selections. Our server was very good about seeing that we had plenty of time to select and enjoy our meal and drinks and still finish with plenty of time to leave on time since we had theater tickets. In addition, we were fortunate to be there on an evening when there was entertainment. We will definitely be back!"
