  • "Thank you yelp for steering us to this fab place! Wish we lived here so we could dine here often."

  • "The food is this restaurant is second to none. If you like Tapas this is the place but it is a lot more. The main courses are also terrific especially the seafood specials. And don't forget to ask for some Piti-Piti (spelling?)--a house special condiment. We go here as often as possible. Highly recommend."

  • "This gem of a restaurant proved to be our favorite of the three dinners we enjoyed during our visit to Amelia Island. We had a pork tenderloin tapas and a shrimp tapas followed by the catch of the day, a wonderful sea bass. Each dish was so flavorful that we cleaned our plates! It was a little noisy but that didn't really bother us. We hope to return to Espana on our next trip to Amelia!"

  • "We serendipitously enjoyed finding this restaurant in Amelia Island! All the tapas we ordered were authentically Spanish fare!"

  • "Loved this place! Everything was delicious! I had the paella, and my wife had the tapas. Both were some of the best we have eaten. Service was friendly and professional. Can't wait to go back again!"

  • "We were greeted with a smile and our table by the front window was waiting for us. One had the Sea Bass special and said it was terrific. The other one and I had the Paella and it was great. The service was perfect and the wine was good, as well."

  • "We had dinner with friends here before the theater. Had head a lot of positive things about it from several people. The home-made Sangria was the highlight along with the oil-mix for the bread. Sea Bass special was overcooked and had a lot of sauce and other additions to it so that flavor/quality of fish was drowned & lost. Sides were forgettable. Seafood in Paella was also overcooked -- hard, dried out, rubbery. We were disappointed. Might try one more time just to find out if the night we were there - a Saturday - was just an off-night."

  • "Wife had scallops and I had the meat Paella. Appreciated the traditional Spanish cuisine and ingredients. This was our 3rd time we've had dinner and never been disappointed.. Expect to return again."

  • "During our stay at Amelia Island, we ate at many restaurants but this is where we had our best meal. Setting and service were just marvelous. Shrimp mozambique!"

  • "The food was excellent! Restaurant was too noisy for me. Next time we would sit outside."

  • "Always excellent; food, wine, service. No garlic, no problem as they will make without! Snapper was superb w/scallops and clam sauce....all freshly made to order. Best paella anywhere. Do not miss this smart downtown gem. Outside dining would be lovely at this time of year. What could be better? Enjoy...."

  • "We've been coming to FB for several years, and this is our favorite restaurant, hands down. We always have "a tapa," (they don't sayTAPAS!) a salad, and seafood. The food is always excellent, the staff is attentive without hovering, and it is the restaurant for a quiet, low-key dinner with a consistently great food! This IS a place to go for well-prepared seafood in a pleasant atmosphere. it ISN'T a place to go with a party of 10, 4 of whom are under the age of 8. It isn't a place for huge fried seafood platters or pitchers of Miller Lite. (There are those places in FB, they do a good job, but Espana is not one of them.) Enjoy it!"

  • "As usual, Espana was terrific, I have eaten there numerous times and never have been disappointed. I routinely travel an hour to have dinner there. The Fish Stew for two is wonderful. Combined with a Vinho Verde wine, it a great dinner. 5 Stars."

  • "We were excited to visit Espana because the locals gave it high praise as well as the online reviews. The hostess, which happens to be the owner, is lovely. So pleasant to converse with. Our dining experience was just ok. From the moment we sat down our waiter was indifferent and visited our table infrequently. He would only answer direct questions and not offer additional commentary. He was somber and sullen. We waited several minutes for him to approach our table and at the end of the meal we waited so long for him to return we had to ask another waiter to get our bill. At that point we gave up on having desert. I would try Espana again and hope to have better service."

  • "We have eaten at Espana many times and it never fails. Their tapas are delicious, as is the paella. One tapa apiece and paella for two was more than enough for the four of us. Also, they were very flexible about shifting our reservation at the last minute."

  • "My wife and our kids (4 and 7yrs) were staying at a resort in Amelia Island and decided to go out to "experiment local restaurant". We had tapas as apetizers and shared a paella amongst us. We were very welcomed and nicely serviced. The food was spectacular !"

  • "This is a real gem! We have traveled extensively and this restaurant stacks up to many and surpasses most... Great tapas selection! From polenta to shrimp to escargot to pork...they are all fabulous! Authentic charm and hospitality... fit for foodies from DC to St. Barts! Thanks for a wonderful evening!"

  • "Vacation to Amelia Island for relaxation and seafood. Espana was not really on my radar but a coworker recommended them and very glad we took their advice. Service was very good waiters were knowledgeable on food items and good recommendations on wine and beer. Atmosphere was very nice we never felt rushed. Food was GREAT!!! I would highly recommend the Paella. When in Amelia Island Espana MUST be on your list !!!! We will return."

  • "This is the best restaurant on Amelia Island , every time we go it just gets better and better. Roberto and his staff make you feel at special, and the fish just doesn't get any fresher and has never been overcooked . Can't wait to return."

  • "While in Fernandina Beach for two weeks we dined at Espana twice. Having visited Spain and Portugal recently this restaurant was very remindful of the great food we had there - lots of olive oil and fish. I was in heaven. Service was impeccable. We have liked it so much that we plan on visiting the third time - the last night we are here."

  • "This was our first time at Espana and it did not disappoint. We found the chef to be accessible for questions and saw him even deliver some dishes. He was very engaged in ensuring everyone had a wonderful culinary experience."

  • "This restaurant came highly regarded by friends who love Amelia Island. The place is adorable. (specifically the courtyard area with twinkle lights) However, the food was just average. )and pricey for tapas.) I had the shrimp (Mozambique style) though the sauce was amazing--the shrimp was very overcooked and rubbery. I then has the ceviche and it was 'cooked' perfectly-though bland. My friend had the eggplant special. (she said it was good...not great.) Service was okay--our female sever did her job just fine but with little enthusiasm for us being there."

  • "We selected Espana on a recommendation from others that had been there the previous evening. We did not hesitate to make reservations and were definitely not disappointed."

  • "Had an open table reservation 3 days in advance. We were set in an overflow area with no ambiance whatsoever and were the only people there at first. The hostess had an attitude when we requested to be seated in the main dining room. Our server was great, the food was excellent but the way we were treated on arrival is a roadblock to our returning. This was a special occasion for my wife and I (50th anniversary) and our initial experience was poor. We talked about leaving, but we felt that we would be in trouble without reservations since the town is popular."

  • "A beautiful and well run restaurant on a busy Saturday night. The energy ran through the room! My wife and I arrived with plans to sample a few of the tapas and havie a glass of wine. We were so delighted with the flavors that we went through all the tapas on the menu! And they were all really tasty! Next time we're going to have the paella, which looked terrific. After dinner, the hostess played Good Samaritan and tracked me down nearly a block away to return the sweater I accidentally left on a chair. It was a very good evening."

  • "We had a group of 6 that expanded to 9 and Espana accommodated us graciously. One of the members of our party was celebrating a birthday and we told the waiter. Unruffled at all these changes, Espana staff was competent and approachable. The paella was outstanding (everyone had a version of it). The Chocolate dessert fabulous. We will return happily!"

  • "My husband and I are local and enjoy Espana for the great variety/options offered on the menu. The specials are always "special". The Chilean sea bass topped with scallops was delectable! Service is solid and appreciated!"

  • "This was our second try. The Tapas were wonderful and they have a good variety. They have a good Malbec by the glass which is a wonderful surprise. The restaurant was very crowded and we waited 15 plus minutes despite having a reservation. The staff knows many of the customers so don't be surprised when you end up with the table by the kitchen and the group with the reservation 30 minutes after you gets the open table by the window. We have not been when the weather permits, but they have a lovely outdoor seating area that we will request when return over the summer. We will come again but it is definitely not our favorite spot on the island."

  • "In downtown and convenient. Very busy on Saturday night and our table was not ready upon arrival. But they made another table available quickly and honored our reservation. Menu was extensive and Spanish food was very good. We enjoyed the occasion and would go back."

  • "We enjoy trying new ethnic dishes. My snapper with spinach, capers, garlic, etc was good. My husband's grouper in spicy brown sauce was very spicy.. Tres leeches cake was nicely topped with dulce de leche. Table garlic dip was excellent."

  • "we split a seafood paella for 1 (plenty of food). Excellent taste, flavors and mix of seafood. A must try is the shrimp ceviche. Unbelievable tastes!"

  • "Nothing special decor, but attentive service and really, really good food. We talked about the tastes during and after the meal. Reservation required. The Paella is truly special."

  • "Superb food in a simple but welcoming setting. More flavor than 99% of restaurants, just phenomenal food, Roberto has reproduced Iberian food perfectly . We just picked a night in which a 14-person, very loud group was there but that was not the restaurant's fault. Espana deserves its #1 rating, must try."
