THE SALAD, SOUP AND FRESH OYSTERS ARE GOOD. THE SERVICE IS OK. THE PRICE IS REASONABLE, BUT NOT CHEAP. TWO PEOPLE SPEND $50 TOGETHER CAN MAKE YOU 40% FULL ONLY. FOR A FULL MEAL, IT MUST COST MORE THAN $100.

We've been customers of Cafe Esin since they were in a little place in San Ramon. Even though they've gotten bigger, the quality of the food and service hasn't suffered one bit. We've never had a dish that wasn't excellent. My husband, who doesn't normally order dessert, can never resist their crème brûlée.

Food and service were very good. We made the mistake of accepting a booth near the wait station and in the main traffic flow................won't take that table again. But everything else was great.

Their food is always consistently good and their desserts are the best. I had their pasta special of pappardelle, jumbo prawns, in a light, creamy saffron sauce. It was wonderful. Their pumpkin/ginger bread pudding was great along with their lemon rasberry tart.

My guest and I recently enjoyed a salmon salad lunch special. Service was excellent and the food would have been the same except for one thing.... the greens were doused in salad dressing. This was especially disappointing because my guest and I had specifically requested "very light dressing, please".

Always delicious whether its lunch or dinner. Best tip is if you like dessert - remember to plan as they are wonderful. And if you like a certain one like the pear tart make sure you ask for it ahead of time as they often sell-out. This time it was lunch so we had to have the fried chicken sandwich but the special lamb burger was a beauty. Dessert was a perfect ending - lemon meringue tart, crème brule, pear tart, pecan tart, no disappointments!

I took my friend to Esin to have lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The food did not fail and we both enjoyably cleaned our plates. The service, however, seemed confused, inconsistent, and sometimes down right annoying. Two different servers come to our table to ask if we needed beverages and a third ultimately became our server for the meal. The continual use of what are "we" having for lunch by the server, what are "we" having for dessert, do "we" want another glass of wine made me wonder if she wanted to grab a seat and join us. OK, enough of the nitpicking, but we did request bread 3 times before we got it, after our lunch plates had been cleared. The food speaks for itself at Esin. The wait staff that day, not so much.

In Paris, my husband bemoaned, "I miss Esin." The hamburger pomme frites, the California wines, quite frankly everything that Esin prepares outshone my husband's dining experience in the City of Lights. (Once upon a time, Paris was reputed to be the culinary capital of the world! ... Parisian chefs take note!) Thank you, Curtis and Esin, and Joseph and Randy, and all the wonderful staff at Esin for spoiling us both. Your ever-loyal fans.

As a big salad aficionado, I can honestly say that the special salad of greens, roasted squash and mushrooms was among the best I've tasted. With the added grilled shrimp, heavenly. The soup du jour--mushroom--also rates high praise. Esin is still the best place to eat in the East Bay south of Walnut Creek.

We come regularly as the food is really good and the deserts are exceptional. We had the pumpkin bread pudding and it was more like a pudding, not at all heavy like some bread puddings. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The only negative is the overuse of the A/C. It was only 65 degrees outside, a bit chilly, and when entering the restaurant, it was not much different. The bar area was really cold and it was tricky finding a table not under a cold vent. Originally, A/C was to cool things off when it was in the 80's or 90's plus. Now it seems it is overused all year round even when it is cool or even cold outside. When I come in from the outside on a chilly evening, I want to feel some warmth inside, not cold air blasting.

Even better then the last time . Amazing flavors packed onto each plate and their Pumpkin Bread pudding was scrumptious. we had a nice booth in the bar. It was a perfect date night for my husband and I. We can't wait to go back. Even the drinks were good. My husband got a Rye Manhattan and I had a Pinot Noir flight. Esin has always been one of our favorites, esp for their mezze platter, creative entrees, and desert selection. The food never disappoints. Service initially was the usual prompt, attentive level, but dropped off as the crowd arrived (our reservation was 5:30). It was clear that they were a little short staffed for a busy Friday nite.

Esin has a great menu but each night they have a number of specials that make the menu almost superfluous. I had the Salmon which was excellent. Even though we didn't try it the Bistro Menu looked wonderful and a really good deal. The pumpkin bread pudding was excellent and they said it should be around for awhile. The service was impeccable and the staff was knowledgeable and quite attentive.

Often when you've had a great meal with excellent service, you wonder if it can be repeated. I'm happy to say that at Esin the answer is a resounding YES! Every time! We had: Basil lime martini, heirloom/burrata appetizer and the Kale salad, Yellow-tail special w/smashed potatoes and I had the NY steak. YUM! For dessert we had the pumpkin bread pudding with carmel sauce - this is when I decided I'm a very lucky person to have this close to home. Our server was Siobhan, who was equally outstanding as before. She remembered me and remembered my favorite drink. This is my "cheers". My only complaint is that Esin is not located in Pleasanton. It would make my life so much happier if it were.
