Getting there

  • Public Transit: We are located 1/2 block south of the 5th ave C-Train stop.

  • Parking Details: Street parking is available in front of the restaurant and is free after 6pm.

    Several pay lots are located within 1 block, including the City TV lot, TD/Holt Renfrew underground lot, and City of Calgary Centennial lot.

  • "Went here for Valentin'es day dinner. We tried the set menu with a wine pairing. The waitress took forever to give us our wine, i.e. the wine came after our first course. Everytime she asked if we would like to order another glass even though we ordered the wine pairing. Felt rushed. Food was good but was ruined because of the service. She forgot my latte even though she served by date coffee. Overall not impressed and has gone downhill substantially since my last visit there a couple years ago."

  • "Very friendly greeting when you walk in the door. Seated immediately upon arrival. Server was very attentive but not over-bearing. He was aware of what was required at the table and did not interrupt our table conversation unless it was to ask if we needed drink refills when he noticed low fluid levels. Meals came in a very good time after ordering and everyone expressed the opinion that the food they had was very good and tasty. Noise level was very good despite a very full restaurant. Definitely recommend reserving as the place was full shortly after noon. Had a great experience and will be back."

  • "We started off with the bacon wrapped scallops which were very disappointing. They were the smallest scallops I've ever seen. Almost as though it was one scallop cut into 6 pieces. It was over cooked and the bacon was not fresh. It was almost as though it was made up ahead of time and then microwaved. However our entrees were good. Shared a flatbread pizza and the beef tenderloin which was cooked perfectly. When we arrived there was no music playing and only 1/4 of the restaurant was full. The ambience and vibe was just weird. I wouldn't recommend this place especially for a date night. I'm a big foodie and can say there are way better places to eat at for the same price point."

  • "Although I work just a couple doors down I sometimes forget I always find something good to eat here. Our appetizer of bacon wrapped scallops was a little on the cool side, the glaze over top was delicious and different. The spring rolls and dumplings were hot and very tasty. The duck was perfectly cooked and very enjoyable. The staff is friendly and knowledgable about the wine and the food menu. Must not forget to eat there more often!"

  • "Many places downgrade their portion sizes or their quality or complexity of their dishes when participating on promotional menus like the big taste. Well... The only promotional part of the Menu was the price, the food itself was what you would. Have expected from a full out full priced menu. The service was great, attentive, fun, and never tiring. I mean, sometimes the server is on you like a vulture on a half dead animal and you can't even chat. Nope, not here, he was there magically when needed and not there when not. Very nice guy was our server. I am so sorry I forgot his name. The food was done exactly as asked, they do know how to do a medium rare, and their three wine samplers are a good option for the undecided."

We were there for Big Taste (although two out of three of us ordered from regular menu) - server mistook my wife's order but this was fixed promptly and a complimentary mushroom soup was also delivered which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and relatively quiet. Decent restaurant however at this price point there are lots of other choices with equal or better food on offer."

  • "I usually never get the time to write reviews or take surveys but I would be happy to provide you with my feedback. Our lunch meeting was strictly for business and we were expecting a more quite atmosphere but it was a nosiy place an music was loud (no big deal). We loved the quality of food expecially the steak. I ordered a "medium-rare" steak and let me tell you, it was one of the best steaks I had in downtown Calgary. It was perfectly cooked medium rare. Other guests in the group liked their food as well (salmon and duck). Your overall food quality is amazing. Server was okay. We understand it was busy so he couldn't pay full attention to our table but overall experience ws very good. Thank you."

  • "On a very busy and buzzing Valentine's Day evening, the service was very efficient indeed. I ordered the salmon with shrimp risotto which was simply delicious. My partner ordered the tenderloin and veggies which he found equally delicious. Although the wine list is rather limited, we found a good wine to pair our respective fish and meat dishes. We ended our meal with a super delicious crême brûlée. We will definitely return to this trendy bistro for either lunch or dinner."

The crab cake appetizer was very disappointing. Dry and tasteless and filled with starch. My sisters aha tun and it was very good. I'll definitely come back for the reviling."

  • "We were extremely impressed with the food and overall service. The cheese plate and spring rolls are extremely flavorful. The waiter was constantly checking on our table and made the time fly by and not make the wait seem long at all. For the entree the alberta tenderloin is extremely tender and juicy and the smashed potatoes are unbelievable. The red pepper Alfredo had charred chicken that was extremely juicy and tender and a creamy red pepper Alfredo sauce with fresh fettuccini pasta. The desserts to end the meal are tremendous and I would definitely recommend the tasters dessert as it come with 2 truffles and small ceramic bowls of tiramisu, caramel brownie, and crime brûlée. I will definitively be returning to Escoba."
